If 3D car printing sounds like sci-fi to you, it's the here and now. Engineers have found ways to build not just cars, but auto parts and restoration models using CAD drawings, 3D printers and molten polymer. Will these 3D cars and parts change the auto

I find the whole idea of 3D printing to be remarkable the one thing that does worry me is that will this mean that even less people are needed in manufacturing industries lead to even more job cuts, good for those who own the factories, not so good for those who work in them.

The mess of getting the materials to the printer will still happen.

I think this will mean that a bunch of students had better take an interest in this new technology and get trained. The old manufacturing model is gone. Train now to survive losing a job later.

This could be a mixed blessing. Sure, fewer manufacturing jobs - but new jobs in selling and servicing 3D printers, as well as supplying the materials. To say nothing of providing security and firewalls because you know that some a--holes will try to hack the things. This could be more blessing than curse for Detroit!
