It took a neighbor's house burning down to bring Shiree Hicks and her missing pup back together.

I'm so glad she found her dog again, and sad that it took a tragedy like a house fire to find the dog. Thanks for the post, my friend.

The little dog is home again and no one was hurt in the fire, that is a good thing.

I hope thats a good home for that dog because every door in the neighborhood wouldve been knocked on so how it got this went this far I dont get it and in a cage outside in the backyard he is a little thing hmmmmm wouldnt be surprised if he runs away again..

I'm not understanding anything about this story. When one of my dogs went missing, we called every shelter in 30 miles; put up posters for 10 miles around, and let ALL our neighbors know we were looking for him. How did anyone NOT know where this pup belonged?

Congrats to Shiree and Jingles for being reunited. My sympathies to the Perez family for the loss of their home, but despite that happiness because the father and the pets lived. The house can be rebuilt and refurnished, but Mr Perez could not be replaced.

My only question is why more effort into finding the dog's owner was not forthcoming. It is a strange happening.

I am a skeptic with the pets owner. Story does not sound right.

No one thought to post some lost or found notices in the neighborhood? Odd.

Glad that Jingles was reunited. I am not sure if lost and found posters were put up and ignored or if the woman had bothered to ask around much in the neighbourhood or do a lot of intensive looking and searching. Certainly calling the shelters by both parties would have been a good idea. Perhaps this was or wasn't done, but odd that they lived so close and there was no communication and it appears that neither gave this matter the attention that it deserved.

I don't believe a word of this story. Ah I said on the Dogster web site:-
This case stinks which ever way you look at it.
If Shiree Hicks, genuinely cared for the dog, which I doubt, why did she keep it
caged in the back and why did she not put up posters and ask around the neighbourhood to see if anyone had seen her dog.
If Rolondo Perez genuinely found the dog rather than stealing it for whatever reason, why did he not put up posters and ask around the neighbourhood to see if anyone knew whose dog it was and take it to a veterinarian or the pound, where it could be checked for a microchip.

There is definitely something not quite right with this story. Perhaps Jingles made a lot of noise stuck in his cage and when he escaped, the neighbors didn't bother to look for the owner since they knew who it was. As a concerned pet owner, I would have put up posters of my lost dog but she didn't do that, why? Too many unanswered questions.
