Why Everyone Should Be Using Solar Power

The sun is the oldest form of energy out there, but it has only been in recent years that we have realized that we can trap the sun's rays to provide power and heat to our homes. Many people feel that here in the UK we just don't get enough sunshine to

There are two huge misconceptions ~ not enough sunlight and too expensive. Solar panels do not require sunlight, they work in daylight. I live in NE Pennsylvania where we have so little yearly sunlight that 90% of us have vitamin D deficiencies, but I have enough power to run my (rather large) all electric house and still sell off the excess. Same with my house in the Hebrides Islands off Scotland where rain is the order of the day.
Depending on your power requirements, your solar panels will pay for themselves in just a couple years, you might also be able to sell excess power, and you'll have the satisfaction of being off the grid.
Actually, I added a little expense by covering my panels ~ birds see the shiny surfaces and think they're coming in for a water landing. Not at all pretty!

I'd use it but I live in an apartment. I have not seen any of the new apartment buildings using solar technology. Why aren't they jumping on that bandwagon and making use of these kinds of things?

Solar energy itself is free and ecologically friendly. The whole manufacturing process is not!
