There's an unusual staff member at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center at Fort Miley in San Francisco. He had virtually no job experience before he joined the team, but he's uniquely qualified for his position.

What a wonderful, wonderful kitty! An animal adds such a special warmth and essence to what can be such a stinted life.

(But Miley's wearing fur!! LOL! Couldn't resist!)

My dad had to give up his cats when he went to an assisted living facility over a year ago. He had dementia, and didn't really remember his cats after that, but he sure enjoyed the beautiful cat that lived by his facility, and would roam through there. It takes a special cat, one that's not skittish, but they sure bring a lot of joy to a lot of people. I, too, wish all such facilities had a cat.

This is a Miley to be proud of. He is special, no question about that. All the nursing homes and hospices should have animals to be able to visit and calm and comfort people. There is nothing like the unconditional love that is given.

What a fine cat! In addition to their ability to soothe and to detect seizures and other critical medical events, cats make excellent hosts, for example in small hotels as well as hospitals.
