The cat named Depot has lived at the store for 13 years, and now management wants her out.

I guess the black cat just doesn't bestow enough of that cold, impersonal, big corporate feel....too warm, homey...mom & pop. In fact...if Depot goes...so would I.

Surprised a petition is even necessary! MY local Home Depot has a ''security cat,'' too. Dozens of people would take it, if it were ''fired."

We had this problem with our hospital cats, Oscar and Chauncey, setting off our alarms. Motion detectors can be adjusted so that small animals don't register.
In all fairness, it IS illegal to have animals in stores and public buildings except for service animals. One creepy person has an asthma attack and the entire corporation is sued into blue heaven.

I SOOOOOO signed for sweet, little beautiful, Depot. I think it'd be so great if someone in bluffton, sc, a cat-loving, customer, could adopt her as their 'only cat' because I don't know how well she'd get along with other animals. I pray that God will find the purrrfect solution for Depot. Thnx for the outstanding post Cher.

How can you kick an animal out after 13 yrs? Smoke alarms can be adjusted. It's hard enough to find homes for kittens- let alone seniors, so where does Depot go? I can only pray that someone with a big heart reads of her plight and adopts her. Our next to last adoptee ( Rajah) faced a similar situation, but he was 2 yrs old and my son brought him home when the bosses wanted to kick him out in the snow no less and we are so happy to have him. Good luck to Depot.

I think that the senior execs in Home Depot should be questioning why the management at this store have nothing better to do than bring the chain in to disrepute by evicting an old cat. Clearly the workload of these people needs reviewing as a matter of urgency as does their continued employment.

S&N. Depot has worked hard for 13 years, keeping this store free of unwanted critters, living a good life and enjoying herself. Why not allow it to continue? Why NOW?

Corporate inanity. I like the suggestion by Vickster (in the comments in Catser) who has a tabby cat profile photo. She said:

"Instead of evicting the cat, why don't the powers that be make an overnight shelter for Depot, so she is confined to a specific area and won't set off any alarms? Heck...they have all of the tools, talent and supplies at hand! Last thing at night would be to place her inside a largish, secure enclosure with bed, litter box and needed shelves, then first thing in the AM she gets out again! Win win! If not, then I think the Home Depot management are insane, since she's lived there for THIRTEEN YEARS! Did someone just wake up and say...get rid of the cat? Corporate bureaucracy at it's finest. At least the haven't chucked her out in the cold; they get 1/4 point for that."

Vickster certainly has more sense than Home 'Despot'. I have allergies to cats but go anywhere where there is a cat.

A nursery that I know had a black cat as their mascot for years before he passed on of old age, people enjoyed seeing him there and there are libraries with cat mascots, one famous one being Dewey before he passed on age I believe age 19.

1687 voters. Surpassed the original 1500 signatures needed. They have bumped up the amount of signers needed to 2000! 816 more signatures needed.
I hope they get rid of the new manager. He's the one that has a problem with Depot living there.
Untold amounts of money they have saved on exterminators!! At least she is friendly and likes the customers!
There is several people on the site offering to take her in their homes! They will take care of her.
But no stars for Home Depot from me! Stars for everyone else!!
