Every day we hear about species with dwindling numbers, struggling against extinction. It is not very often that we hear about a species recovering.

It's good that there;s a success story here but that's not what is happening to the wolves in Idaho or Wyoming. Maybe you'd like to extend the information to include those states that are murdering the wolves.

The comments about the article are priceless and clearly show that there will always be strong differences among us Americans. In a way, the fact that 2500 wolves have been killed kind of shows that it was a success story. But all the states where there are wolves have taken it upon themselves to kill them off again which is very sad.

A success that I believe won't last. The ranchers and hunters want to kill them and I believe our government will allow it to happen.

Grey wolves and other wolves are fascinating and are an essential part of Nature.

Certainly there are many farmers out there who have opted for a more viable solution than simply shooting wolves or coyotes, they get a donkey - or more. Or other such animals that hang out with cattle, sheep and the predators tend to stay away as they don't fancy getting a kick from an irate donkey.

Thanks for the article...Unfortunately where I live in MN, they are hunting them again even though their numbers are way down.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? This is such a piece of nonsense!! This article will get my direct response to it. I will be writing as Official Wolf Army to this. 800 wolves is recovered species in WISCONSIN? There was 800 wolves counted (falsely) in Wisconsin in 2010. THEN THEY SLAUGHTERED 200, Now in 2013 they USED DOGS TO RIP WOLVES APART and paid 2500 to dog killers in the woods for false claims! AND KILLED 257 wolves and puppies! THIS ARTICLE DONT BELONG ON care2. I will be handling LivingGreen directly in Official Manner!

I stand as The Wolf Army representative in the great lakes region and I live in WISCONSIN. I can not allow lies and GRIMM fairy tale myths to be spread. THE WOLVES ARE DYING!

This article goes against every other article I've read regarding wolf populations. Due to massive slaughters/murders of wolves within the last 6 months, I highly doubt the population is what is stated. The wolf should remain on the endangered list.
