For the first time this century, the Great Lakes are over 80% frozen. And it's all thanks to a Polar Vortex.

Shades of the movie "The Day After Tomorrow." Wonder if we're going to keep ignoring everything until we HAVE pushed our planet into a new ice age?

Some lakes here are frozen solid (smaller ones, not the Great Lakes), and it will take a long time for all this ice to thaw and it is projected that we will have a cool summer. Geesh, enough of the cold, we want summer. Lake Michigan is nearly frozen over. I am 20 miles from there.

Noted in awe - has it ever been 80% frozen before, and does this include the Canadian side of the lake?
Thanks Cher. Will have to look this up, as I too would like to know about the fish and other marine life.
