How Much Wolf-Killing Can the State of Idaho Afford?

Offbeat  (tags: animals, environment, protection, wildlife, wolves )

as the federal government backs out of paying to monitor and control wolves, the state will have to step in, helping livestock owners reduce losses, keep tabs on the prolific predators and balance the wolf population with other wildlife.

It's kinda creepy that the entire article is written in terms of what the state can afford financially. When the headline said *afford* I thought it meant environmentally.

I know Brad Corkill, he's a good guy, but I don't agree with his stance on wolves, although probably most of the people I know do agree with him. I hate the fact that wolf control will cost so much for Idaho and find it short-sighted not to look at the whole picture and fail to include non-lethal methods to help with wolf management.

I don't give a damn about how much Idaho can afford-it's the wolves I care about. Idaho can rot for all I care.I also abhor the words control and mange when it comes to wild animals. we are the ones who should be managed and controlled as we are the invasive ones who are causing the problems.

We are already managed and controlled to a great extent, Kate. The days of non-management are long gone I"m afraid. You can't just dump animals like wolves into people's lives and not expect them to react.

"the testimony of new Fish and Game Commissioner Brad Corkill of Cataldo. At his Jan. 15 confirmation hearing, he said, “If every wolf in Idaho disappeared, I wouldn’t have a problem with it.”

What an a**hole.

Animals don't stand a chance in this country. A sad situation.
