The fatwa is aimed at encouraging people to protect the environment, including endangered animals such as rhinos and elephants that also live in the country, said Mr Prabowo, head of the council's environment and natural resources committee

I'm for anything that has a decent chance of saving the environment and the animals therein.

Actually, yes it could help. The Ayatollah of Iran has issued Fatwa's for free birth control and full education for all women and both are helping greatly. Educated women have both a greater chance of success in life and fewer children.

Maybe it's just me, but I am skeptic at this... It really could help, but it doesn't mean that it will. Yes, it would be good if it actually does help, but I just doubt it.
A lot of fatwas has been issued in this country. Things that are banned by fatwas are actually flourishing underground, maybe even more than before the fatwas are issued. They banned cigarettes with fatwa, still, cigarette industries are blooming... They banned yoga with fatwas, and it's still practiced in health clubs and gyms (not that I complain of it). There are fatwas about cosmetic surgeries and I still see atificial noses everywhere I turn my head...
And not to mention the non-Moslem people will just say that the fatwas won't apply to them.
So... sorry, but I am just skeptic that it will help the tigers and orangutans... It's a good, well-meant effort, though...

I understand the Fatwa's are part of the Islamic way, but oppose any form of Theocracy. Still, as far as wild animals and the environment are concerned , I do hope this helps.
Monica, I can easily understand your cynicism about the real value of this, nonetheless.

If you use lip balm and also want to save the environment than you need to make sure you use this all natural lip balm, which is also dedicated to saving the environment.
