We should nurture compassionate thought. Since we wish to live, we should not kill any other living being.

Furthermore, the karma of killing is understood as the root of all suffering and the fundamental cause of sickness and war, and the forces of killing are explicitly identified with the demonic.

The highest and most universal ideal of Buddhism is to work unceasingly for permanent end to the suffering of all living beings, not just humans.

surely there are enough people being shot every damn day... we can do some good and look at what bullet wounds to to them and treat them without having to shoot a pig to figure out what happens

besides, do we not already know what happens when someone gets shot? Really !??

It just boggles the mind the useless things that are done, that "must" involve hurting animals

disgusting

N&S. . "Lifelike human simulators that "breathe" and "bleed" and can be used in realistic battlefield scenarios have been shown by military and civilian studies to prepare doctors and medics to treat injured humans more effectively than mutilating and killing animals."
