noted, been practicing water conservation my whole adult life
like 200 gallons for 5 people for a month,we washed everything in salt water
rinsed sparingly with fresh

Here in hot, dry Western Australia, water tanks are quite common. We have had no rain for several months, and the situation is unlikely to improve. There are several 'slimline' tanks available which will fit into small spaces, so no excuse if you have a small block.

I wish all buildings and houses would be built from the start with water-wise landscaping and rain collection devices!

I just use very large buckets. They ALL get way overfull. What I use it for is the toilet(just pour water in, it will flush itself-really)

Not so easy when you live in an apartment. I've visited folks in the country who do.

I believe that every new house built should have at least one water butt fitted as standard (and as many solar panels as it can reasonably support).
