Why Do Some Birds Sing Through The Night?

Many questions come to eNature about night birds calling and other weird and incessant noises in the dark. It seems that there's a lot of activity taking place when most of us expect our birds to be resting.

Is something (or someone) keeping you awake these spring nights? Waking you up before sunrise? - Yes, my new puppy, the birds do not bother me and I like hearing them. Puppy sleeps well till 5:00 am.

Noted. Interesting article and resources for those of us who love birds. Part of learning to live in harmony with nature is getting used to day sounds, night sounds, just listening. We were never meant to have to sleep in complete silence, really. If anything gets me up, it's the pups hearing something or someone LOL.

I love my whip-por-wills, nightjars, hooties ~ but if you've ever heard a barred owl's alarm call! ! I'm not kidding it sounds like something is being torn apart inch by inch...just blood-curdling.
So of course the orphaned baby that I raised and released decided he stay right here close to home!
