When Aaron Jones walks Gozer, his Rottweiler-hound mix, people cross the street to avoid them. Mothers scoop up their children. A lost motorist once rolled up the windows and drove off after spotting the dog. One woman screamed.

How sad that such ignorance prevails! I personally love the look of black dogs as well as black cats and can't understand how supposedly intelligent humans behave so foolishly about this. Unfortunately it is once again, precious innocents who suffer for the absurd behavior of humans.

My 120 pound lab mutt was a big gentle moosh and we loved each other for 11 years. The brother of my moniker looks like a shrunken Rottie and makes me laugh every day. How can people be so ignorant?!?

That's really strange. I don't know anyone like that. I also didn't see any black dogs in the shelter. It's a no kill shelter too. The closest was the doggie I took home and she has alot of orange on her too.

I knew a real sweet black lab.. & its dum to not like them.. People are so twisted in there minds.. they think one thing & run not giving these dogs a chance.. I have never heard of a lab or lab mix ever hurting a person yet humans run.. WHY IS THAT ANYHOW ???? It certainly is sad.. & the stupid people just keep breeding them anyhow.. thats even more stupidity yet....

It's just stupid ignorance and fear. Large dogs are often gentle giants. And black dogs usually are so beautiful, with their inky, shiny coats. I have a 90-lb chocolate mix who loves to have little kids crawl all over him while he lies on his back and they tug his ears and tail. He is a big scaredy-dog and would never even think of being aggressive.

People who are fearful make dogs fearful and therefore more likely to exhibit agressive behavior in self defense. Calmness is the key to good human-dog relaitonships, regardless of size.
