Iran condemned the insults leveled against the prophet of Islam in the US and European movies and magazines, and called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to compile a criminal convention to prevent such blasphemous acts.

"Speaking to reporters in his weekly press conference in Tehran on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast deplored certain western media for promoting and supporting sacrilegious acts against divine sanctities and the prophet of Islam.

"We want those who are behind this move to go on trial and be PUNISHED and we expect the OIC to take urgent action to compile a convention to prevent such acts and don't allow these publications to create a rift among divine religions," he underlined.

His remarks came after a number of western movies and cartoons were released in the western media in recent years which insulted the prophet of Islam and Muslims.

In September, French weekly Charlie Hebdo published cartoons of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). The publication of the offensive cartoons came amid widespread outrage over a US-made film that insulted the prophet of Islam.

The anti-Islam movie drew condemnation from numerous countries, including Afghanistan, Egypt, Libya, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Iran, Yemen, Iraq, Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan, Morocco, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, etc.

And unfortunately again, a French journal has recently announced its intention to release a number of sacrilegious cartoons against the prophet of Islam on Wednesday."

Special priviledges, superior human rights, no questions or criticism allowed. Where do these intelopers get off? Whine, whinge and bully. I'm over the lot of them They are as bad as the Vatican hundreds of years ago. Too bad if they feel upset- lots of stuff upsets me and other 'infidels'. Who is the bigot here? I don't call people names if they don't agree with my choice of sky fairy/invisible friend, but they do.

As far as I'm concerned the Iranians can go to hell. One rule for Islam and another rule for everyone else.

Unfortunately this 9th century Islamic ideology is determined to shift the world back into that century dragging the rest of the world along for the ride. The question is why do so many so-called "freedom loving" liberal socialists want to help this process along?

The OIC has been working to get the UN to make it an international crime to offend Islam (which is very easy to do - even quoting the many hate verses from their scriptures can set them off) for years and each year they gain more ground. It won't be long now when freedom to criticize or question this ideology of hate and violence will be illegal.

It is already now a crime in 5 EU countries to 'denigrate' Islam - no other religion - just Islam. We have an ex-Muslim refugee from Pakistan, who was granted asylum here in Spain to save his life as it is a death sentence to leave this religion of peace and tolerance, but because he has been active in speaking out about the hate teachings of Islam he is now being deported back to Pakistan to a sure death! He has been quoting hate verses from the Qur'an, but that has the Muslims in a murderous frenzy and his life is threatened even here.

Instead of protecting him from these bigoted, intolerant hate mongers and murderers, our Conservative government is caving in to the screaming protests from the Muslims and turning on the victim. It is sickening.

Freedom of speech is disappearing before our very eyes and where is the outrage??? Here on Care2? In the NY Times or Washington Post? The UK Guardian? CNN or BBC? No. Our freedoms have never been in any greater danger than they are right now from the dark hand of Islamism infiltrating all western lands.

I have read the Qur'an, hadith (Bukhari and a good part of some others) and part of the sirah and find them disgusting and hateful. There is almost nothing uplifting or what any reasonable person could call 'godly' and decent in any of these books, but whenever I quote hate verses from them I am the one who is often condemned by the ignorant PC brigade - NOT the hate teachings of Islam.

People who know nothing about it and have never read these awful books are so quick to rush to their defense, it just boggles the mind. Those who claim to be for human rights and freedoms of all kinds should be shouting loudly in protest to this ideology of hate and killing and in defense of its many victims, but they are the ones who are its loudest defenders. Incredible!

Living in a country with constitutional rights to free speech, we forget how easy it is for OIC countries to wield an enormous amount of influence and power to make people "pay" with heavy fines, protracted court hearings, jail time, loss of jobs, etc., for speaking the truth about Islam. Frighteningly, we are clearly not immune to it here in the U.S., with the maker of that silly movie about Mohammed now languishing in jail, and that's just one example.

Well pleasing Iran isn't very high up on my list of priorities. In fact it isn't there at all. So, how about this? When THEY stop committing criminal acts against OTHER religions, including Buddhism, Christianity, Paganism and adopt a tolerant policy of live and let live, we begin to have a conversation about freedom of speech and religion and what that really means. It most certainly does not mean you have the right to kill people who believe other than what you do. And if there is learning to be had, it must begin with Islam recognizing that words hurt no one, suicide bombs and terrorist activities do. Clean up your own house, stop the murders in Africa being committed by Islamists, stop them every where, and grow a thicker skin, speech hurts no one, bombs do. Their priorities are so bassackwards that they don't deserve even a thought - except for how to protect reasonable people from barbarians who turn into angry mobs every time they think they hear an insult. Pthhh.

Noted, tweeted, shared. When freedom to criticize is taken away, it doesn't take long before all freedom dies.

Well how about this proposal...we in the west execute anyone defaming our way of life or disobeying our laws re illegality of Sharia , those protesting violently or with "we will destroy you" or "death to the infidel" signs, or spreading other hate speech against the laws and mores of the west. If we can't criticize them without some stupid, fatuous fatwah being issued, it seems it must be time that we should do the same. How does that sound? This is one area where I am a conservative. These retards love us to be politically correct and use it to full advantage. That will be the death of civilization if we allow it to continue.

muslim fools prove everyday they are not fit to live in a world with others. they should be walled off and left to rot. in no way should they be allowed out in the world with the rest of us.
i will keep speaking up against them and if our stupid law makers even think they can get away with making laws to protect those fools we will rebel. more movies should be made to show what they are and what they really stand for.

Whist defending the right to personal beliefs the right to freedom of concience and free speech also must be respected. In my family we have a saying "Everyone is entitled to their opinion however stupid it may seem to you."

Very unfortunately, the ACLU is now in large part manned by Islamists in the Council for American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), and they are pushing an Islamist agenda and often not helping those people that used to be helped. There is quite a transformation to pro-Islamic policies on a number of levels in this country, and people need to be aware of this and call attention.

Why stir it up? Are these movies and cartoons necessary, especially if they are going to enrage a specific sector of the population of the world? Yah, yah, yah, everyone wants to be heard...yawn. I find most things created by man boring anyways when there is so much beautiful nature out there. Everyone needs to find a hobby that they are passionate about that is constructive, not destructive.

Oh, I can hear the backlash now...
