The video shows the difficulties that the Tahrir Square anti-sexual harassment groups have to work with.

The mob scene is chaotic and it’s often impossible to understand which of the men are helping a woman and which are assaulting. The volunteers usually wear t-shirts or vests to distinguish them from the rest of the mob and converge on an assault with crude hairspray flamethrowers, gathering around a woman being attacked and then moving her out of the area and into a closed space, while battling other men along the way.

It’s a messy scene even when it ultimately goes well, as it does here. Female volunteers appear to be as assaulted as often as they carry out a successful rescue and the men have to face knives and mobs.

It has been alleged that these sexual assaults are carried out by paid gangs affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Egypt’s ruling party is paying gangs of thugs to sexually assault women protesting in Cairo’s Tahrir Square against President Mohamed Morsi, activists said.

The newspaper spoke to two men who admitted they were paid to target female protestors. Victor and Tutu, both in their thirties, said they operate in a group of around 65 local men and got paid between £10 and £20 a time. But they would not reveal who pays them.

‘We’re told to go out and sexually harass girls so they leave the demonstration,’ Victor told The Times. He said the aim was to cause disruption and instil fear in protesters. He said members of the public sometimes joined in.

What does it cost for the Muslim Brotherhood to hire a paid rapist? Apparently around 15 to 30 dollars

When the Arab Spring started in Egypt I was concerned that the Muslim Brotherhood would win against Mubarak. Whatever Mubarak was, he was a 1000 times better than the MB and so it has been proven. I had the traditional anti-Semites such as MM & Abdesalam telling me how wrong I was and now they have Morsi who has become a worse dictator than Ghadaffi or Sadam. Well done Obama, your group got in with your support and you are keeping them there terrorising their people. No democracy, Morsi doesn't believe in it, no law, Morsi doesn't believe in it.......

I sympathise with the people who wanted to improve their lives and got kicked in the teeth with Morsi. I wish them well but expect the worst.

Noted, tweeted, tweeted, shared. This is unbelievable and proves once again the low regard the world has for woman. Egypt is worst off now than it was before. God help the women because the Muslim Brotherhood doesn't.

When most verses in the Qur'an and hadith demean women and make them possessions to use for sex and abuse at will this kind of behavior from Orthodox Muslims in the MB should be expected. Non-Muslims can expect to beaten to death.

Where is the outrage from western media and leaders and feminists?

Of course Morsi and his Islamist thugs will blame this on a 'Zionist Plot' and their braindead appeasers will rally to their side screaming death to Israel, including the gaggle of these hate mongers here on Care 2 - you know who they all are. You notice not one of these Jew hating anti-Israel bigots never condemn anything done by their Islamist friends.

Egyptians have no history or experience with democracy. NOBODY should be surprised at this...especially when the Islamic ''religion'' is dedicated to destroying all traces of personal rights.

I'm surprised they had to pay these morons anything to sexually harass women protestors. It comes naturally to most Egyptian males.
This is the wonderful Arab Spring we all heard so much about and the West supported. Just heard that an opposition leader in Tunisia has been assassinated. What next??

...a revolution without provision to feed its masses...is easier to supress...A revolutionary promise fueled by idealism..for a better fairer way...is not food enuff for those who live day to day in fear and oppression...Corruption isnt part of the system..it is the system. Brutality can be purchased for a buck and a half. But what good the bloody process?...Here in my ivory tower it all seems so simple...be kind to people and dont take the piss...x
