An official from Iran has refuted claims of plans to execute imprisoned pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, who has been imprisoned for almost three years on accusations of apostasy, a crime where one disaffiliates themselves from a religion. The refutation came

The Iranian Envoy states, ....“Hundreds of people are changing from other religions to Islam. Why we should be so sensitive about a few people to change their religion from Islam?....” Were that true, then Iranian Muslims who convert to other religions wouldn't be prohibited from serving in political office (when, say, a Christian who converts to Islam is allowed to serve in politics.) (According to Iranian reports I've read on the lengthy list of reasons why a candidate will be disqualified from standing for election.)

I hope the Pastor is freed soon.
