Hundreds of members of radical Islamic groups on Friday called for “jihad in Myanmar” during rallies in front of the Myanmar embassy in Menteng, Jakarta, to protest growing violence against Rohingya Muslims.

‘It has been [going on for a] long [time], our brothers in Rohingya have been tortured by Myanmar military, Buddhist monks and Buddhist people in Myanmar. There is no other way for our Muslim brothers in Rohingya, we have to wage jihad,’ said Islamic Defender Front (FPI) chairman Rizieq Shihab during a protest at Hotel Indonesia traffic circle.

The FPI, along hundreds of members of the Islamic People Forum (FUI), Jamaah Ansharut Tauhid, Islamic Reformist Movement (Garis), Indonesian Committee for World Muslim Solidarity (Kisdi), Islamic Preaching Council (DDII), Indonesian Muslim Brotherhood Movement (GPMI) and Taruna Muslim (Muslim Youth), marched to the heavily guarded Myanmar embassy on Friday, brandishing banners that read ‘we want to kill Myanmar Buddhists‘ and ‘stop genocide in Myanmar.’”

And where is the U.N. in all this?

The Muslims started it- they make trouble and violence everywhere they go and then play the victim. Sick of hearing the word 'tolerance'- how are people and countries supposed to prosper in peace if tolerating the intolerable and kowtowing to fanatics is the order of the day?

They are quite happy to kill anyone who doesn't follow the teachings of their cult.

Muslims have been persecuting and slaughtering Buddhists (among many others) for 1400 years. In the Muslim invasion and conquest of India over 80 million Buddhists and Hindus were murdered brutally for now 'converting' to the religion of peace and tolerance.

Buddhists are being ethnically cleansed in Islamic Bangladesh, yet there is no outrage against that. The media ignores it, as do the so-called 'human rights' groups, but they all condemn the attacks on the illegal Muslim immigrants in Burma (and rightly so).

The ethnic cleansing of all non-Muslims is happening across the Muslim occupied lands but where is the outrage? Where is the media speaking out, or Obama? Couldn't care less. A bunch of hypocrites.

In once Buddhist Indonesia, before Islam's invasion, uncounted Buddhist temples (and over 300 Christian churches) have been closed or destroyed but no one breathes a word of condemnation, and Obama praises this country for its 'moderation' and as an example for all Muslim dominated countries! Why is it that if Muslims don't murder everyone they don't like that they are praised for their tolerance and 'moderation'?

As a Buddhist, I did a double-take on this one. As I've said a thousand times, we have a world full of human monsters always on the lookout for something or someone to kill. Evil doesn't tolerate the good, the gentle, the compassionate.

Nice! Indonesian Muslims should just kill each other, and let all innocent people live in peace and freedom. This is just evil!

Oh Heck, here we go again. A group of religious crackpots numbering a a thousand on a crowded day are then vilified but include the other billion.

Rob and Jay.. For your information the Buddhist tradition in Indonesia is still alive and thriving alongside the Indonesian Islamic faith followers, mainly in Bali. Yes Indonesia has its share of "Radical" Muslims as does the U S A with some crazy Christians.

Birgit.., Nice American (innocent)? Christians should stop killing, in foreign countries, those who do not conform to America's idea of Democratic (Capitalist and Christian) Government. Religious intolerance is not confined to one country nor one faith.
The various sects, Catholics, Baptists, etc., of the Christian faith had their day of violent persecutions, now some Muslims, who haven't left the 14 th century, and with as much intelligence, are doing the same.

Further intolerance and military action will never solve the problem nor convince the foolish that they are wrong. I suggest It the many countries who persecute in the name of any ideology religious, or not, should cease to be propped up by the financial aid of the advanced western world. Let them find that affiliation to any religion will never solve their own problems. In the meantime cessation of the headlong acquisition of ever costlier military hardware by the U S A, to fight their continual non productive wars would go along way to help raise the abysmal living conditions of so many of its own people.

it's time for the rest of the world to push muslims back into a few countries like iraq and iran and keep them there. do not let them spread. remove them from all other countries. they can't and won't live with others.

quote..The various sects, Catholics, Baptists, etc., of the Christian faith had their day of violent persecutions, now some Muslims, who haven't left the 14 th century, and with as much intelligence, are doing the same. ...Unquote

The main difference of course being that this violence is mandated in islam and their messenger prophet showed them the example of what was acceptable to alla
In fact it would be correct to say that muhammed was and indeed is the antithesis to the Christian Jesus
so lets not hear about " radical" muslims there is no such term in fact it this is a term invented by those that cannot face reality.---islam is an inherently violent faith and has no scruples as to how it expands

Take a look at the "hot spots" around the globe and you will see that the underlying causes of trouble
such as wars, battles, acts of terrorism all have Muslims as the root problem. What can we do? This is something to which the so-called peaceful Muslims must answer.
Why must Muslims brandish thier weapons and kill innocent people? Sounds to me like they are not going to heaven but straight to Hell. God doesnt like this kind of religion!
From the beginning of this warring religion Islam's main purpose has been to take over the world. Ever notice that when the stats come out and Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world supposedly? This is because when they take over new ground they force people to convert to Islam. It is either; convert or die!. When marrying a non-Muslim the other is forced to convert. Why must we convert? Force and terror, that's why.Take a look at the dead terrorist in Boston whose wife was forced to convert to Islam. She has been brainwashed and is under suspicion for some activities related to the Boston bombing. Take a look at the mother, she's a piece of work! Time to bring her over to the US and charge her too!

I am sick and tired of hearing about Muslim terrorism, their muscle flexing and most of all the US trying to rally support to fight Islamic countries to get them to make peace with each other. I realize the British ruled their Empire "Divide and Conquer" for some time, it all came apart when they took on to much. The US should use the principle that already exsists, do not take on too much. Step back and let Muslims self destruct, they are good at that. That British template "Divide and Conquer" still exsists. Step back and watch, they all hate each other.

The less muslims in the world the better off everyone will be. Murdering bastards, about time someone gave them a taste of their own medicine.

Tommy S. As is the usual case, directions towards violence in the Koran are extrapolated to vindicate equally violent reactions towards those who adhere to those medieval and archaic traditions of Islam, whilst ignoring the many Biblical exhortations for equally violent behaviour. The difference is, that in the main most Christians have decided to ignore those sections whilst often pursuing wars that are very often religion inspired. viz G W B's reference to the "Crusade" when entering the Iraqi fiasco. The very visual display by American troops with their military Pastors receiving "Communion" and blessings before entering action. This was reminiscent of the Pope's blessing of the Italian troops when they ventured across the Mediterranean to colonise Abyssinia.
Marie Therese... A taste of their own medicine??? We've been doing exactly that for thousands of years and it has got both camps nowhere.. The "Crusades" (the original not George Bush's). was to counter the growing evangelistic expansionism of Islam that, in itself, was to counter the growing expansionism by the Christian evangelists. America, and other country's, enforced expansionism into many countries affairs has been evidenced over the millennia, very often motivated by religious idealism. One has only to look at the Phillipines, various Caribbean nations, Central and South America, China, Japan, Libya, Iraq, all who have felt the self righteous wrath and intrusion of America. Sadly that same American evangelistic Christian and Capitalistic intrusion was also evident in its own country with the same tactics on the Native Americans, an attitude that, equally sadly, in the mind of so many persists to this day. No it is not confined to America, but generally speaking the blatant hypocrisy of blaming "Others" then pursuing the same agenda with equally obnoxious methods, albeit parading in uniforms to lend legitimacy to those pursuits is very American. Must have learned it from the Limeys, they were so good at it too. When you advocate doing to them what they do to you Marie Therese, you have abdicated completely from Jesus Christ and his professed ideology of turning the other cheek and peaceful coexistence. Oh I am not saying that I would turn my cheek. If I am attacked I would probably retaliate, but then I am not a Christian so hypocrisy doesn't enter the equation. The only thing with which I would agree is that less Muslims would make for a better world, which equally applies to Christianity.

Once again there seems to be confusion between the bible and the quran.

The violence of the Old Testament is fixed in time and limited to a particular people, there was no open ended commandment to kill unbelievers indiscriminately to promote faith. Islam is spread by the sword and the commands to do so are open ended and this is directed towards all non muslims

apologies left out a bit
the commands to do so are open ended ( as relevant today as they were 1400 years ago) and these are directed towards all non muslims

the main problem here is that nobody is stepping up and calling out the burmese authorities about the genocide of muslims going on in burma. is seems that the muslims of burma are very very passive. they have all grown up watching their relatives, friends and teachers murdered by buddist who get slapped on the wrist.
they need help. when people are left to be murdered and the world looks the other way that's calling card for jihad. somebody has to do something. and the way i see it, better those brain dead dummies than my son and daughter.
