The Palestinian Authority Governor of Ramallah Laila Ghannam has referred to the youngest Palestinian female suicide bomber of the Second Intifada as a “martyr” and a “brave heroine.” Ayat Al Akhras murdered two Israelis in 2002 and injured 20 others.

At a ceremony last week, PA Governor of Ramallah Laila Ghannam praised the youngest and third Palestinian female suicide bomber from the Second Intifada period, Ayat Al Akhras, alongside other Palestinian terrorists. According to the clip on PA TV, which was translated by Palestinian Media Watch, she stated, “Yesterday, we received more [bodies] of our brave heroes' - Ayat Al-Akhras and the bodies of Martyrs (Shahids) who sacrificed their pure blood so we will live in freedom. Allah willing, we will remain committed to their promise and make tombs that will befit their stature.”

On March 29, 2002, at the age of 18, Ayat Al Akhras blew herself up in the entrance to the Supersal supermarket in the Kiryat Hayovel, a mixed secular and religious neighborhood of Jerusalem, right before the onset of Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath. A security guard named Haim Smadar and a young 17-year-old Israeli teenager named Rachel Levy were killed. Twenty others were wounded in the blast.

Many counter-terror experts believe that Ayat Al Akhras blew herself up in order to save her family’s honor, as her father was a suspected Israeli collaborator due to his management-level position in an Israeli company. By the time the Second Intifada erupted, many people in the Dehaishe camp where Ayat lived viewed her father’s work in Jewish settlements with increasing resentment, especially as he was one of the few residents allowed to leave the camp. Mere months before Ayat’s suicide bombing, members of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade visited the Al Akhras family home and demanded that her father quit his job.

Al Akhras’ father adamantly refused to comply with their demands. As a result, her family became outcasts in the Dehaishe Camp. Local sellers refused to give them service. One the children of Ayat’s sister were beaten up in school. Neighbors blockaded their home so her father couldn’t get to work. There was also talk about lynching her father in the camp and destroying the family home. In Barbara Victor’s book Army of Roses, a friend of Ayat’s even confessed that Ayat stated two days before she blew herself up that her only means of saving her family’s reputation was to become a suicide bomber.

Ever since her suicide bombing, Ayat Al Akhras has been widely praised within Palestinian society and her family is no longer shunned. For example, on the 11th anniversary of Ayat Al Akhras’ suicide bombing, Fatah’s official facebook page glorified her by stating, “In her operation, Ayat, who should have worn a wedding dress, put on the Palestinian keffiyah and the army uniform. Rest in peace sister martyr Ayat Al Akhras.” Near her home, pictures of her are engraved on the wall.

This was not the first time that Laila Ghannam took actions supporting terrorism. As recently as last December, Laila Ghannam laid a wreath on the grave of Abu Mustafa, a founder of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine has carried out terrorist attacks against Israelis since its founding in 1967 and rejects the Oslo Agreements. That same month, she also visited Palestinian terrorists that were recently released from Israeli prisons.

These people are creepy, no wonder they have no peace.

No surprises here. Terrorism seems to be the only thing they excel in and celebrate.

The Palestinian mother is “a model of giving” for proudly sending off her children off to die ...Creating a supportive social environment for terrorists has been a critical factor in the Palestinian Authority's successful promotion of suicide terrorism. To this end, PA policy has been to honor terrorists as Shahids (Martyrs for Allah), and to teach Palestinian mothers to celebrate when their children die as terrorist Shahids. Categorizing these dead terrorists as Shahids grants them the highest honor a Muslim can achieve, and is therefore cause for a mother to celebrate, according to this PA teaching.

They may well find things different when they report in on the other side.

Sadly, the more that oppressive policies are applied, settlements built illegally and given advantages over Palestinian communities in occupied Palestine, settlers aggress villagers and take over land, Palestinians prevented from accessing and working their land, the more the level of despair builds - and gives rise to suicide bombers. Jewish Israeli human rights groups are trying hard to help the "average' Israeli to recognise that current policies cause problems rather than protect/ defend against them. The real martyrs are not those who crack, who go out & blow themselves up: they are those who resist the temptation to use violence, but whose lives are ruled by hardship and fear of IDF and settler violence. When B'tselem equipped a family with a video camera, and settler behaviour was transmitted over the net, Israelis were horrified: a reality that many just do not want to know about. Don't blame the PA for this problem and pat yourselves on the back as being the righteous ... responsibility lies heavy on both sides that practice violence. The main difference is that on one side the practitioners of violence are either in uniform or protected by those in uniform and are admired for their standing, while on the other they are from informal groups, but are honoured by a number for their acts of despair.

Is there a gene missing? Is it a chromosone imbalance? Are they simply sociopaths?

Muslims have victimization down to a tee. It's always someone else's fault, in the Middle East, and the world in general. There is simply no other ideology who has fine-tuned it's victimology culture as has Islam.

Islam is the source of manifold danger and dysfunctionalism in virtually every place it has taken hold. If it is a Muslim country, it can historically be said that extremely little has been bequeathed to the world by Islam. Instead it is like a phagocyte, consuming the culture it has occupied, and wrung dry, in terms of inventions, monetary capital and human capital, and then it tries to pretend that it has some how invented or discovered something.

On the other hand, when things go wrong in virtually every country on the earth where Muslims have had the major negative impact, it's never their fault. Arabs were offered huge parts of what Israel now is, and their response was a definite NO. Instead of agreement and working out a solution, Arabs went to war, time and time again.

Because Arabs were the aggressor, and lost some land, the vast majority of which Israel gave back in land for peace agreements, this land is for a number of reasons legally Israel's. Yet, the Muslim/Arab way of doing things is to kill. Kill Israelis, don't negotiate, don't seriously work a settlement.

If it's the Sunnis: kill the Shia; don't try to live in harmony and accept each others' differences.

If it's the Shia and the Sunnis: kill the Achmaddiyah. Do not accept their form of Islam.

Kill the Bahais. Kill the Buddhists. Kill the Hindus. Kill the Sikhs. Kill the Jews. Kill the Christians, and so on.

The answer to EVERYTHING is JIHAD. That's all Israel has done, truly. Lived next door to the most racist, extremist, supremacist, oppressive, totalitarian, uncompromising religious ideology in the world.

And because of Arab and Iranian petrodollars, trillions of them, all that you see that is being perpetrated on the Israelis is already being perpetrated on many other countries, and it's coming westward. It is coming to a theater near you, to your state and county.

Time to wake up and learn about Islam and what its goals and beliefs are. Time to wake up and smell the feces.

Go for them Beth but be careful of a Jihad. This poor little girl threw away her life for nothing. She was an innocent victim of inbred hatred May all those who bred the hatred in her and induced her to kill in the name of an imaginary god be cursed .We can only hope and pray that our God will forgive her and be merciful

Boods, sadly true. The Muslims raise their children to hate Jews and Israelis. They have programmes targeted for this purpose, books, text books and, of course, that it what the Koran says!
