HBO has exclusive rights to the event, so many will not see the event in its entirety. Here are various clips and performances so you can enjoy most of this outstanding program.

There was music for just about everyone. Garth Brooks brought the house down, while Beyonce brought it home, at least to me. The videos may not be up for long, so enjoy them now.

A final note: America faces serious challenges ahead. I believe Obama is doing his best to put on a festive celebration now to set an uplifting mood for the nation, and a message of unity. I think it is the right thing to do.

Hi all we get in the UK is the message the Copyright restricts us from playing this viodeo outside the USA...I would have rather that had been the message for the Bush years of mayhem in the rest of the world.

Jim, David and Beatrice ~ You're welcome!

David ~ If I find better links, I will let you know. Most of these links have been removed for us as well. "Copyright restricts..." would have been better for Americans too, LOL! I think that's why almost everyone loved the shoe thrower so much. That was a mild version of how we felt.

Getting back to the concert it was wondrful
Yes Yes Yes Yes we can Yes we did Yes we will Lincoln/MLK/Obama :)

Julie, Margi and Mamabear ~ I agree with your comments. We can already see that he is trying to bridge the partisan divide that has gripped this nation for many years. I'm already hearing many republicans praise him for his efforts, with the exception of Karl Rove and Fox News.

Mamabear's comment about "rolling up their sleeves" stands out. Obama understands we face serious, if not grim, challenges ahead. He is preparing all of us by showing that we must get involved in helping one another and being responsible. Most of us here at Care2 are activists and understand how critical and progressive this one aspect of his message is going to be key to our future. He is showing that we can help others, make a difference and enjoy life in the process.

It looks like we're off to a great start!

Sigh...oh well, HBO beat me to it. Now I'll have to wait for a DVD (if they do even that). I have to pay for a large package from my cable company to get HBO - drat!

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You, Marion! While alot of the links were taken down and I too got the notices that this video can't be seen out of the USA, I managed to watch Garth Brooks, and a lot of the clips on AOL. Byonce almost had me in tears and Steve Wonder was a real sweetheart. I totally enjoyed what I saw of it, specially U2 and am, for the first time in years, full of hope! There is one thing that really bothers me, however, this was a free public concert, so how could HBO claim to own the copyright to all the videos shot there?

Thank you Marion :)
I can look forward to a better America now with hope and enthusiasim.
Honestly the Bush years really took a toll on my mood as I felt hopeless like I have never felt before living under that corrupt, immoral mans rule, I lived in fear of a third world war with that man in office !Thank god that is all over with and now we can move on with hope in our hearts again.

Thank you so much, marion!

Although I am an old, senior citizen Canadian, I have been so excited about this young, dynamic president! I see hope not just for the U.S., but for the whole world. I realize that he cannot cure the troubles of the world single handedly, but with a very strong and loyal support group he is certainly going to try. I believe him when he says, "We can!".

His inaugural speech was awesome!

Marion Y. (286)
Tuesday January 20, 2009, 3:22 pm
Elainna ~ I'm glad you were able to enjoy some of the performers. It bothered me too that HBO had sole rights to the video. I wrote a letter to Obama saying as much. Let's see if they respond.

Marion Y. (286)
Tuesday January 20, 2009, 3:45 pm
Linda ~ Your feelings mirrored mine. I think most of the people's health in this nation deterioriated at some point in the past 8 years. During the inauguration, someone in the crowd held up a big sign that expressed my views:

"Bush, Get The H*** Out!!!"

Now we can heal our nation...

shukron Marion! Most of the videos were taken down by the time i got there but wow-what a way to do an inauguration-i couldnt think of a more REAL or better way to connnect all....shuron for posting this-it brought tears n hope to my heart...

How sweet and thoughtful of you, Marion!

I was able to see the two clips I tried from your links, but HBO only works within the US.

Was there EVER an inauguration like this?

"Was there EVER an inauguration like this?"

Alba Nuova ~ Not that I know of. It was a perfect day yesterday and definitely a good reason to celebrate...for us all. Today begins a day of cleaning up the mess left in Bush's wake that may affect us for the next 100 years.

Marion, I'm emotionally exhausted, I was crying, laughing, dancing, singing all day long; and when I watched the multidimensional prayer service at Washington National Cathedral this morning, and heard Rev. Watkins remind everyone of their "better angels" when she repeated a story taken from Native American wisdom:

A Native American grandfather was talking to his grandson about how he felt.

He said, "I feel as if I have two wolves fighting in my heart.
One wolf is the vengeful, angry, violent one. The other wolf is the loving, compassionate one."

The grandson asked him, "Which wolf will win the fight in your heart?"

The grandfather answered: "The one I feed."

OMG, I hope our nation is forever free of the Bu$h/RepubliCON vengeful god and mean-spiritedness.

Marion Y. (286)
Wednesday January 21, 2009, 10:23 am
Blue...from all the work you have done to support Obama, I can imagine how drained you are. Your day went very much like mine. Although I was alone all day long, the TV was up full blast and I too cried, laughed, danced, sang and screamed at the top of my lungs in gratitude that the wicked Bush was gone, and sanity has been restored to our country's leadership.

That was beautiful what Rev. Watkins said. The only way these evil people can come back to govern is if we allow it. I don't think that will happen for many years to come. Even the Republicans are reeling from the devastation.
