Fox News is already having a collective hissy fit only two days into the Obama Administration. And they're just getting started folks.

Talk about imploding...

Since I don't watch Fox (Faux) News for obvious reasons, I was amazed to see Jon Stewart's clip showing the folks over there get discombobulated over Obama taking over the keys to the White House.

I've always known they were the mouthpiece for the Bush Administration - where else can Karl Rove get an audience? - but they're anti-American propaganda, lies and childish behavior has me questioning their employers, professors and parents.

These are the same talking heads who helped Bush bring down America to the brink of economic collapse, disrepute and hated by the world. Now they've started all over again. Are these people American citizens at Fox News?

You decide...

I've written to Obama strongly requesting they get rid of these propaganda shows that poison the minds of the ignorant. Fox News has contracts with cable networks that feed their news to communities, small businesses like sports bars, restaurants and fitness centers, without offering much choice for patrons to change the channel.

While MSNBC offers a more balanced viewpoint with news pundits who actually speak in an intelligent manner with words you might have to look up now and then, Fox News speaks down to their viewers without challenging their thinking or, in many cases, providing researched information. It's embarrassing! But the overworked, undereducated masses find Fox News easy to listen to...and get worked up over.

Please sign the petition by MoveOn.org asking the FTC and Congress to order Fox News to stop misleading consumers.

I've happily signed and commented for the FCC, although I don't hold out any hope in this particular case for appropriate action. These "big boys" behind Faux News wield much power and control.

I think you've identified one of the biggest problems in tackling this bias, Marion: choice. Therefore, the far-right passes itself off as neutral and centrist.

We can only hope, as with the election, the majority of people will see through ultra right-wing hypocrisy and ugliness for what it is.

Why Fox News Channel Is An Industry Joke.
Or: Welcome to Info-tainment Tonight!

"We paid $3 billion for these television stations. We will decide what the news is. The news is what we tell you it is!"
-Alleged comment by David Boylan, station manager for Fox Tampa Bay (WTVT Ch 13) to two reporters who are currently suing the network for firing them and censoring a story about the use of bovine growth hormone in Florida cows.

THE "FOX NEWS CHANNEL": A HIGHLY QUESTIONABLE CABLE TV CHANNEL.
Isn't it interesting how many different names people have come up with to describe cable TV's right-wing Fox News Channel. Some of the latest examples are: "Fixed New; Faux News; Fox Noise Channel; Fuxxed News & Fox Nothing Channel".

Noted thanks Marion.
I don't ever watch Fox News, not even on my local affiliate because I don't trust anything that they report. I go to a more trusted network for my local news.

In 2004 Common Cause filed a lawsuit against Fox News Network for their slogan Fair and Balanced. I have the full transcript of the complaint they filed. Common Cause lost the case they filed. And Fox News has been able to claim that they are fair and balanced, which I believe they're not. I know full well that they are liars and report fake news so often I wonder how they get away with it. The FCC hasn't done anything about them either. But maybe with the Democrats in office something will finally be done about them. Fox is owned by one of the wealthiest men in the world. Ruppert Murdoch, who is originally from Australia. He now owns the Wall Street Journal in addition to many other print media, and news stations. He is gives a new meaning to Right Wing Conservative.

The RepubliCons are angry because a black man won the presidency, and they just can't seem to get over it. Plus Fox News is just another mouth piece for the Right Wing agenda, and I know they're not going to let up on Obama. Bush was their boy, and so was McCain't. They need to grow up and stop the lies. I will click on the link to sign the petition. I wish I could do more, but unfortunately I can't. But signing petitions will hopefully get Fox News shut down...

"discombobulated"... Who... Fox News?? That word had me laughing a bit... Yes, Fox News is a right-wing neo-CON tool and deserves to be booted off the airwaves.

At the very least, Fox News' "slogan" should be changed from "Fair and Balanced" to "Fake News for the Uneducated Morons"...

Petition signed: http://civic.moveon.org/fox//

TY, Marion.

They are just mad that Obama is not going to give them coverage of everything the way Bush admin did. Fox was the mouth piece of Bush admin and now Fox are out! Didn't Obama kick them out of some press pools?

Fox is much like our local paper - full of nasty comments, stupid editorials, and biased reporting. Haven't figured out exactly how to deal with the paper but it's easy to not watch Fox - perhaps if we are just quietly MORE vocal and MORE determined we can wear 'em down..... or MoveOn could BUY Fox. That would be good !

Thank you. Your comments will be delivered to the FTC.

Signing the petition is only the first step. It is crucial that you tell others to keep the ball rolling.

Marion, the clip of Jon Stewart was hysterical!
If Hoax News Channel is having strokes like these
after ONE DAY, how the hell do they think we felt
under 8 YEARS of Bushco? They're about to find out!
I sincerely hope the FTC can make Faux stop using
"Fair and Balanced", and I don't know how anyone
at Faux can still say that with a straight face.
Thanks, and noted.

Here is what I wrote in my message:
'Fair and Balanced' are not proper words for a 'trademark'. Also, they in this case, are FALSE. These are DESCRIPTIVE WORDS and need to remain part of the English language for ALL to use. Fox/Faux/Fux News even has the temerity to sue people who use APPROXIMATIONS of those words! Let's keep the English language FREE of being BOUGHT for money!

Republicans have repeatedly fought against the equal time rule, which was done away with by reagan.

Theoretically, Democrats could bring that up and make it a LAW, requiring equal time for all of the baloney that Faux news is spewing, for other points of view... free of charge.

I watched my ex-husband get addicted to Fox News and watched him turn from a thinking person who eventually just mouthed back what programming he received from these shows and talk radio. When asked to supply proof of the accusations he could not--just supplied more rhetoric. I have watched a close friend go from loving, open hearted to absolute racist justifying racist views by stating firmly this is just the truth that mainstream news is afraid to show. Altho there is much wrong with the media in general any "news" source that refuses to become a mouthpiece for rascism and hatred and fear I applaud. I personally have Fox News blocked from my TV as my own personal little protest. Needless to say I will be signing.

Fox/Faux News have already LOST MOST OF THEIR MARKET SHARE. Rush Limbaugh saying he "WANTED Obama to fail", lost them even more!
Faux would be NOTHING; except that they are on 24/7 at McDonald's and other outlets. {A very good reason to BOYCOTT those places; and tell them WHY!} They thus have a CAPTIVE AUDIENCE. Without this artificially-made audience with no choice, they would be NOTHING. Merely with an audience of a tiny dribble of hard-core bigots, racists and paranoics. Like the Repuglican Party itself is turning out to be.

People have freedom of choice in this nation so I guess if they want to watch FOX that is their choice. However for them to think that FOX is "fair and balanced" takes a great stretch of the imagination. I think telling McBarf's and anyother places you go in that has FOX on that you will not order and will not be back is a excellent idea. Besides McBarf' is supposed to be for children, put something on they will enjoy.

In South Florida the local fairly unhinged news van was at our polling place. In the middle of the night election night of 2000 about 12:30 1:00 am there were about 8 guys in black (its always black uniforms ain't it?) loading/dumping the boxes of ballots from our polling station. It was covered the next evening as disposing of already counted (not) ballots, our ballots did not even make it to the court house.
My mother who is smart and inquisitive has fallen under the spell of unhinges nuz too.
For 8 years I have been trying to tell her different and about the election fraud perpetrated on the citizens by Jebbie Bush and Katherine Harris among others , its reached the point I no longer talk to her much.

Everything and anything that is not based for the reverence of life and the highest and best good for ALL concerned will not allowed to be sustained in the New Age(Earth). It is that simple.Period.

More and more people are not watching that channel anymore because it does not take a genious to see that it is self-defeating, it does not serve us individually ao collectively. People are figuring it out with the new energy all around and thaNKS TO THE MANY, MANY YEARS OF INDEPENDENT MEDIA and the truth warriors who have remained true to the Cause. AWARENESS is increasing at a faster rate than ever, but at a sustainable pace nonetheless. WE ARE Awakening...........I think we can all FEEL the shift towards the good, we made the turn, lets keep on keeping on.

EXPECT to start seeing more and more media people able to bring out the truth as they get comfortable with the idea of the new Government and attitudes of the people. Rejoice and relish in this , many , many , many generations, including OURS has fought long and hard to get HERE, Right NOW, Believe it , WE ARE ......Peace and love and abundance are in sight, please help each other help OURselves.

The Obsolete paradigms of GREED , selfishnes, CORRUPTION , ansd abuse of power are crumbling away, LOOK AROUND .......

Obama begins to dig in Bush’s heavy legacy
Russia was never safe during George W. Bush’s stay in the office. Bush’s America wanted to be the only country in the world to determine the structure of the up-to-date international system. Needless to say that such policies have led to countless international problems. Unlike the USA, Russia has always been a champion of the multipolar world. If Barack Obama takes Bush’s mistakes into consideration, the US-Russian relations with improve

Obama embodies grand failure of great hopes
01/22/2009 [article] / World / Americas

Barack Obama’s accession to power reminds the plot of a Hollywood blockbuster about America’s future, where the US president is is often portrayed as a black intellectual, who is greatly concerned about saving America from an imminent catastrophe. Obama is not a deceiver. However, his position of the incumbent leader differs from his pre-election rant. Obama embodies the peak of this dream. A son of a Kenyan shepherd has become the president of the USA. This is the peak, and the downfall is inevitable

I agree with Kate. Late night hosts (such as Jon Stewart, in photo) need material, and will be tough to find now that "W" is out of office. Letterman also got a lot of jokes out of the last administration, particularly in his 'Great Moments in Presidential Speeches' segment.

Well just change the channel! 1st Amendment!!

We have heard that a-plenty regarding the Faux News channel. But the sad fact of the matter is that there are plenty of "individuals" in this country who consider this channel for all their News, aka "the truth". That's what I find disturbing, considering the hate mongering which is commonly spouted on Faux; for example, via Ann Coulter... This "woman" as far as I'm concerned is the closest thing to an insane red-neck bigot as it gets in this day and age.
With repetitive slurs of "Commies, "Pinkos" and "colored people" being common factors in Ann's limited vocabulary, among other miniscule minded statements (I have been accused of being a "Pinko" by Ann a few years ago. To those of you not having been in awareness during Ann's hero Joseph McCarthy, Google his name for enlightenment).

A. Coulter is one of the many conservative hate-mongers who frequent FNC spouting their idiotic, hate filled rhetoric. I have been monitoring FNC continuously throughout the '08 Pres. election, as well as receiving postings from "Newsmax" and "GOP USA" (and tedious as it has been, I am a firm believer in "knowing thy enemy"...and after I watched eagerly as the tide was turning comfortably toward the "blue side" Election Eve, I quickly tuned into FNC to watch Britt Hume's face grow long(er) and ashen as he struggled to spit out the truth that The "Maverick" and "Maverick-ette" were slipping into political oblivion...and of course, it was also entertaining to witness the face of "Porky Pig's evil twin", Carl Rove's face grow very pale - with un-mistakable fear in his little piggly eyes on FNC that magical night!).

But the fact remains there are a multitude of non-thinkers who tune in to FNC (especially after Obama WON the election) to watch and listen attentively to reporters, pundits, current and past GOP politicians, etc. piss, moan and sling muck at "them danged tree-huggin' Liberals".

Yes, we who are capable of independent thought view such as "the blind leading the blind"; but in all actuality, it is a clear case of the corrupt and evil FIRING UP the masses of the ignorant (including the many members of White "Supreme"-ist organizations).

Protected by the 1st Amendment? So many holes in that statement...

It has been many years since I saw the movie "Easy Rider". But I remember very well a specific dialog between Jack Nicholson's character and Dennis Hopper's, not long before Nicholson's character was killed in his sleep by a local gang of local "red-neck" thugs: Regarding actions and ideals of "red-necks", as explained to Hopper's character "That makes them stupid", replied Hopper, to which Nicholson retorted "That make's them DANGEROUS".

"Easy Rider" was a fictitious movie...but the dialog above was quite actual.

Fox "News" is, without a doubt, as "fair and balanced" as was the 8 years of the true "Axis of Evil", AKA the Bush administration.

Marion Y., my dear friend, thank you for posting this very necessary issue re. this hate-mongering network!!

Fox "news" is rightwing capitalist propaganda. It is demagogic, promotes prejudice, it is pro-imperialist, pro-corporate, pro-bourgeois, and anti-socialist, anti-egalitarian, and against human rights. Very harmful to humanity as a whole.

Impossible to add much, it's been said aptly above. "Faux News" will hopefully lose enough market share to lose it's profitability. I agree, boycotting McDs is a sound idea. We need to protect children against this attempt at indoctrination. I also believe we should find a way to revisit their losing the right to use "fair and balanced."

Stephen ~ Right on comments!! I wasn't aware of the Common Cause lawsuit against Faux News. Interesting...

Jim ~ I like your slogan: "Fake News for the Uneducated Morons." So appropriate.

Jodi ~ I don't know if Fox is out of the press pools, but I know Obama isn't answering their questions. Why dignify them?

Tim ~ LOL! The Faux News people don't have the patience and intelligence to go through 8 years of Obama. They may not make it to February 22, Washington's Birthday. If you thought the Clinton and McCain campaigns were like slapstick comedy, wait until you see what the neocon camp led by Faux News has in store for the public. Be prepared to see some of the most idiotic displays of pompous indignation ever known to man.

Eric ~ Good point on democrats requiring equal time. Taking it a step further, how about equal time for actual "fair and balanced news" as long as it doesn't contain lies and propaganda?

BMutiny ~ Yes, boycotting McDonald's and outlets airing Faux is excellent advice. I stopped going to a favorite coffee shop to meet with friends for that reason...and I told my friends and the owner why.

Serge ~ Thank you for your 'Higher Consciousness and Awareness' talk. I can see the old paradigms slipping away at a pace faster than I ever believed possible. We are seeing miracles happen before our eyes, but we're still shell-shocked from the battles. Hallelujah...a new, bright day is dawning!

Pete ~ No country was safe with Bush in office. Yes, the praises and doubts toward Obama will continue. When will people learn he is only one man and can do only so much. It is up to us to get in gear and make things happen too.

Blue Bunting ~ Bass-Ackwards O'Reilly keeps spewing the same old same old that will eventually cost him a job. His audience will quickly learn he talks out of both sides of his mouth when they lose their homes and jobs, and decide he helped in that process. Mukasey needs to be worried because his credibility and actions will be brought into any war crimes cases too. Thanks for the links.

Kate ~ "Let them keep alienating the Republicans with braincells. Soon their audience will be made up of only the crazies and morons. Then we'll know who all the wackos are and can medicate them so they don't hurt themselves or anyone else." Thanks for the laugh!!

Wolf Eldridge ~ Thank you for your astute comment!! The reference to Nicholson's "that makes them DANGEROUS" brings it home so well.

Simon ~ You defined Faux News to the core!! Thank you!!

Thank you ALL for your comments, my friends. Hopefully, Faux News will be a thing of the past this year. Any bets?

Argh. Fox News and any of its talking pieces - O'Reilly, Hannity, Malkin,Limbaugh, Coulter -- make me want to throw things. I understand that people have different viewpoints, and we were taught in school that no opinion is wrong...but it sickens me how they perpetuate a climate of fear, bigotry and intolerance, and that anything otherwise is unAmerican. Between Fox "News", and the many on-line conservative sites e-mailing quite the assorted messages of blatant absurdity and all out lies, as well as Radio B.S. artists (such as Rush Limbaugh) as well as conservative authors like Ann Coulter... small wonder those who blindly follow the conservative "ethic". are so grossly misconstrued. It goes above and beyond a mere difference in opinion between liberals and conservative. It's a matter of proven falsities and bigotry.
