Alaska doesn't get much action, really, so it's no surprise that police thought they were pulling over a UFO when they saw the above solar car tooling down the road. I'd probably have thought the same thing, except that UFOs are unidentified FLYING object

And that's just what you do when you see an extraterestrial on your highway. Pull them over and demand to see their proof of citizenship!

Can you say Stooopid (three o's) police state? What was their (the POLICE) reason behind the pull-over, was he over/under the speed limit, swerving? What was the reason for the pull-over?

Solar is slowly coming online. It has recently achieved parity in Hawaii. Bear in mind the Island State is 22 cents/kwatt hour, the coal has to be shipped in, and most states charge less than half that.

For now, the practical use of solar for a car is keeping the battery topped off. Just by merely plugging a small solar cell into the cigarette lighter provides 1.8 watts in broad daylight, enough to greatly lengthen the life of the battery. (1.8 watts divided by 12 volts equals 1.5 amps, which is more than a trickle charge.)

As solar becomes affordable it will begin to replace coal and eventually the interanal combustion engine.
