A post on TomCat's blog. Three things this week which seems to me to command the intervention of the Greek Furies.

Abdul Zahir and many of his co-detainees in Gitmo were "released" months, some even years ago but had to stay put because the government would not release them into America. They had to wait until a country willing to take them in was found, in Zahir's case that was Oman. Their human rights have been violated for more than a decade and even now, literally shipped out without compensation or assistance in dealing with their traumatic experience (including torture), their rights mean nothing to America. It's almost impossible to set this straight again, but I hope Tisiphone will do her level best to get some justice done for Zahir and all those others on Gitmo whose lives were ruined with such arbitrariness and disdain.

Pay-to-stay jails? Never heard of them. The way they are advertised for and also allow some (rich?) felons to do their time at their leisure that doesn't surprise me much. Another example in which greedy capitalism goes way over the top straight into shady cum illegal. "Class justice", is what I'd call it (not classy 😉 ), because despite what Americans believe, America does have a class system an Alecto will have a very hard time tearing that down.

A. ban. on. crayons. ?!?!? Gob-smacked, and disgusted.

Children don't always color between the lines, or stay on the paper. The heartless drones they hire as ICE agents are as nasty and humorless a bunch of "law enforcement" agents as you'll find anywhere. And with new permission from a hate filled new president they aren't going to get any gentler nor more understanding, stories like this will become the norm as people are rounded up like cattle and summarily deported. Just as Donnie wants.

The US would be better banning Twitler (and his enablers) from Twitter and all social media!  Measure the damage from his rants against a few crayon marks!  No contest!

Abdul Zahir and many others of the Gitmo crowd who were detained without just cause and never tried in a court of law should be paid "reasonable" reparations.  I find it unconscionable that Drumpfenfarten demanded reparations from Germany when the US is clearly involved in Europe for its own self interest.  And yet no reparations or even a paltry apology is offered to the Gitmo detainees unjustly held.

Pay to stay jail?  With very few exceptions, this sounds like the ideal corruption scam and a way to beef the budget.  What will they think of next . . . a lottery for cell accommodation?

Tisphone: Gitmo should have never opened up under GW Bush's administration. It's a mental & physical burden for those incarcerated there, and the horrors of the interrogations procedures that take place. It bears witness who have difficulties in living with PTSD (as our Veterans), but also to to Zahir and his fellow detainees, who also suffer. I hope that it closes, but with DT in office.....???!

Magaera: o.m.g. 89 miles from my house. Cruelty at it's best, imho. This is so, so sad, I agree with Gene's comment.
BTW...my son & his family drove to Cali from TX., and were stopped 4x's going, and 3x's coming back. One was a vehicle search, and was asked by DHS with dogs searching, as to the reason for their trip. My son mentioned that there was a 'high aggressiveness' in all instances. I can only see this fomenting towards...not only to immigrants but to citizens as well. Drumpelthinskin will most assuredly see to that.

Thank you, Joanne for post.

Oh, Pat. I am so sorry. And virtually everyone in your family is a veteran, right? Or current active duty? I think I might have been tempted to give as a reason for the trip, "Official orders." True or not. What trash. What absolute trash.

Of course I agree with Gene too. I generally do.

Yes, Joanne, all 'mine' are Navy Vets. It would have been his luck if he said, 'Official Orders', and they asked to look at them. lol. He said he'll never drive that way again. I don't know if flying is any better, what with security heightened as it is. Used to be fun going back and forth, but I don't know now. Scared the bejesus out of my DIL and grand-daughter. Not a good way to travel the lonely roads anymore. How pathetically sad.
Thank you for your concern, Joanne. . The vacation was FABulous, I might add. ;-)
