We should solve our deficit problem by targeting wasteful spending and needless tax giveaways, not by attacking the economic security of our seniors. I'm with Al: Let's solve our deficit problem WITHOUT cutting Social Security.

Thanks for signing! You got that right Robert about many of us either already on Social Security or near it. Let us not forget the Disabled that may be younger but in need of this income or the children who have lost a parent the family already taking a hit from the death of a family member and loss of income truly can't take any more hits.

Al is one of the few people in Congress who have their heads on straight. I think I've signed this before from him, but I signed again just to be sure. I hope our representatives in both houses smarten up soon and decide not to leave our elders and frail out on the ice flow to waste away without sustenance. We seem to be going backwards in so many ways while the wealthy keep shooting at the poor for sport. How Christian of them!

Ty Robert ... n~s~s

“Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid.” —Dwight Eisenhower, U.S. Pres., REPUBLICAN

Thanks friends. This issue is related directly to the fact that "We lose $90 billion each year when big corporations dodge their taxes by stashing profits offshore, in low- or no-tax countries." http://www.care2.com/news/member/101693842/3668626

Thanks for helping that petition and this one. Also, may I bring your attention to this below because as it stated. Hunger is not a game. http://www.care2.com/news/member/101693842/3671916

With gratitude, Robert

Of course we should not cut Medicare or Social Security -- in this day and age we NEED MORE
Medicare and Social Security funding. I personally (as a physician) think Medicare rules are too
restrictive -- AND Medicare doesn't even cover many essential medical problems .

Petition signed as with similar petitions to save Social Security, not cut it.
There are petitions to strengthen Social Security. Let us not forget that
Social Security is not part of the Federal Budget.

If anything that should be cut from the budget, it is the military and its contractors
which is bloated and wasteful. Another agency should also have its budget cut and along with its private contractors is the NSA.

ty, Robert.

Both MN senators, Franken and Klobuscar, are not for making cuts to Social Security and other entitlement programs. Also both senators donated their salaries during the shutdown, for which I'm extremely proud.

I've recently read that 12,000 will be cut from the government after January 1st....contractors and government retiree buyouts. Also, from what I have read there's tremendous waste being spent on presidential appointee offices that should've been been closed years ago. So, the government can certainly save money there.

Social Security should be cut. It should be raised.

Obama has fired or let go of nearly 200 military officers since he took office. Wrong way, Harrigan. I can understand letting go of those who have underperformed. Obama needs to be strengthening our military because right now he has our country looking like a string of weenies dangling in the wind. However, he can find ample cuts in other places starting with The Pentagon and his own overblown, incompetent staff in the White House. His handpicked czars need to take a permanent hike and Michelle Obama can certainly get rid of most of her 21 assistants who, based on my observation, have done nothing in 5 years but read food magazines.

Actually, he could cut Joe Biden loose, too. Joe doesn't even know where he is half the time and he keeps calling the wrong people and congratulating them. Biden is worthless.

takes should be cut too. all done .

Absolutely signed. Noted. Thank you for posting, Robert.
Just in the past couple days I've been signing petitions & sending letters asking to please dump plans for a chained CPI, too. I'm sick & tired of funding a War Machine with warmongers wasting my tax dollars so their cronies can profit by manufacturing bombs, missiles, bullets, guns, tanks, MORE unnecessary aircraft carriers, helicopters & unwanted airplanes......while they're starving the hungry and threatening seniors & veterans.
Members of Congress are paid with our tax dollars; and they receive excellent health care, a retirement, a great salary (which if you consider how many actual hours they work, would be Hundreds of Dollars per hour)....perks too numerous to mention. But, they'd rather take care of the War Machine, Wall Street & CEO's that get enormous tax breaks & subsidies than the majority of their own constituents who pay them.

What the far right doesn't seem to realize--or is deliberately ignoring--is that Social Security adds not one cent to the deficit. Which, by the way, is actually coming down--which is another fact they choose not to talk about.

"AND Medicare doesn't even cover many essential medical problems" ????? Medicare has never turned down any payment for my health problems and I have Hep C acquired from a transfusion in '81, Liver cancer acquired by living with Hep C for that long, COPD from the damage to my lungs that was caused by the injuries that caused my tainted transfusion and diabetes from the steroids that allow me to breathe. They have paid for 3 liver surgeries and various other treatments. I do get my drugs through my wife's insurance though. So what doesn't Medicare cover in your practice?
