As I said a few days ago in another post,I think this is totally wrong and should be pulled! If they do not have the sense to do it themselves then maybe someone should help them understand just how harmful it is!!

I am posting this news to note for a dear friend, Victoria Kelly. Not only is she a survivor of child abuse, but she is becoming a one woman army, speaking out for those who cannot speak for themselves. Please sign her petition and tell all those who think child exploitation is acceptable that it will not stand. Thanks, MJ

Petition already signed. I agree this is wrong and not the least bit cute or funny. Sadly things like this and worse are posted in many of these websites. Time for the laws on this to be alot stricter and more enforced.
Thank you! You signed at 8:25 PM PDT, Aug 10, 2008 Thanks Mary.

Child abuse????
I think this is in poor taste but it is not child abuse...in my opinion.
And this is not typical of facebook either

I think it is more than just poor taste, if this were a picture of a little black boy and the caption ended with F.... this, I'll be a drug dealer, would any of us think it remotely funny? I think not.

Mary, I signed
I was really upset when I saw it...
exploitation involves a persistent social relationship in which certain persons are being mistreated or unfairly used for the benefit of others. This corresponds to one ethical conception of exploitation, that is, the treatment of human beings as mere means to an end — or as mere "objects". In different terms, "exploitation" refers to the use of people as a resource, with little or no consideration of their well-being.

At the very best, this is demeaning to women. At it's worst, it
is very suggestive of child sexual abuse. Victoria was right on
to catch it. (I signed the other day.)

Thank you.

I can understand this being offensive to strippers, in fact I'm outraged that the supple and nubile young things out there working the pole dancing clubs are subjected to this kind of heinous misrepresentation.

Stripping is an art form, and requires strength, coordination and flexibility.

Facebook should be doing more to promote stripping as a valid career choice.

stripping as a valid career choice?
That is why women describe the experience being similar to sexual abuse? They have to use drugs and alchohol to "do it"..
If you can squat down and pick up a buck in your you know what... You can be as stripper!

Oh that last post you don't even have to do that!
Being a Survivor of Systems of Prostitution, I will tell you that stripping is just another form of violence against women! (sorry, sometimes I get too sarcastic about it)..

I have worked with victims and survivors of the sex industry and I will tell you there arte more victims than we can help! and they just grab another young girl/boy to fill their "JOB"!

It is disrespectful to tell victims of abuse that sexual abuse (to another woman/child) is YOUR JOB!

Dancing is an art form Trife, even Gypsy Rose Lee, probably the most famous stripper of all times, stripped because she was rejected by her mother. A good friend of mine had a sister who thought it was a good way to pick up some easy money, she ended up hooked on drugs and dead at 30. Did she come from an abusive family......YES.

This was originally political satire against the Victorian Government's serious cutting back on reading programs in their schools. As political satire goes, it is quite good and effective.

If you had ever had your body sold... IT IS NO JOKE! and kids as young as this (and younger) are exploited and ussually never do get an education! If it was about reading programs they all need to WISE UP! I think they are the ignorant ones!

When I first saw this I was totally sickened by it. Whoever came up with this & whoever put this on Facebook has one mighty warped sense of humor. This is not the least bit funny or cute.

The original essence was to shock the Victorian Government into re-installing the reading programs. The message is that if they don't, children will be so handicapped as to have to seek otherwise unacceptable careers. It worked too.

This petition is way over the top.

the Cat in The Hat was written by Dr Seuss and published around 1958, hardly the Victorian era. Seuss wrote a series of books aimed at making the learning process more colorful and fun for children. He dedicated his life to it and I doubt that he would see the humor here. I could say a lot of thing right now, but let me just say that Victoria chose this poster because it was one of the least offensive and show able ones. Do the research, this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Everybody has a point, although this is only a joke. There are hundreds of other HTMLs like this about all races, all are equally a joke. No need to take this personally, there are many people out there who have been abused, who have worked through thier shame, and can laugh at jokes like this.

and that says so much about our society, that it is the victim's who feel the shame, not the perpetrators.
