I was made aware of the God awful side effects of Depleted Uranium and the chemicals that were shot into our soldiers in 1991-92

I had recently began the Dare To Dream Network when someone approached me in Searchlight Nevada where we were living at the time. They asked if I knew about a family whose wife and mother had served in the first Gulf war coming home ill and whatever she came home with seemed to be damaging her family, husband and new born baby. Before I had a chance to visit this family I was told all members, Soldier, husband and new born child had passed away.

I never had an opportunity to check out the story because everything became quiet about this incident. But I did some extensive research over the years and about three years ago came across a soldier at a veterans rally who spoke about the effects his contamination was having on the health of his son. He was to get in touch with me but never did. It makes me wonder what is happening to those soldiers and their loved ones who may have been impacted by this GULF WAR SYNDROME.

We are, or should be, aware how the government, run by MONSANTO, denied AGENT ORANGE was causing any harm to those exposed to it. I am so sick of the terrorist, drug companies, chemical companies, oil companies, Corporations, treasonous legislators, who run, ruin and compromise my nations honorable side I wish my screams could be heard throughout the world. I'm so sorry! I'm so ashamed! The God of US all will punish everyone who has been a party to these terrorist acts which have and continue to cause such pain in the lives of innocence. Some might ask, understandable so, why would God allow such acts to go unpunished. Many seem to think that a loving God would not allow man to continue his pernicious cruelty. But those who have no understanding do not understand God gave man a free will and man has abused this gift which will, in short order, be rectified by God.

The nature of the human beast is that many are motivated by the seven deadly sins. Whether you are a person of faith or not the deadly sins apply to those who would destroy all that's beautiful in the world in order to serve self. I also know some will say, as I've heard all before, I am not responsible for this carnage. I "Dare" say, "We" are! I also know that if we continue ignoring this blatant attack on the world this will become the nightmare of the century.

Thank you, Abdessalam.

When I first became aware of depleted uranium (DU), and tried to research it, I kept running into U.S. government documents trying to say that, because it is "depleted," it's innocuous. LIE!

Since then, much more documentation has been released that testifies to its horrific effects. Of particular interest is a website -- which I highly recommend those who are just hearing about DU visit (and sign their petition):

Sorry about the link:

I tried linking to the web, hot link above, and it was an "oops"...

Reconfigured the link address and got this:

yes, not only are the people and the off-spring are suffering from DU, the soldiers are also suffering
from being near DU or even in contact are having problems with their health. Veteran's Administration
says that the effects from DU are in their minds and are not able to get proper medical attention at all.

DU is really bad. Not only DU but other forms of radiation are equally as bad. One only needs to look
at Chernobyl for some photos of birth defects. In the future, we can expect to see birth defects from
Fukushima Nuclear Plant disaster.

The photos seen in the visit link are not for the faint hearted. Gee... turned my stomach a bit.

Did not care about the rest of the story by product about the roads, Organized crime, etc as I felt that it did not belong in the story about DU and the effects of it on the people and the off-spring.

TY, C for the forward and Barbara for the story.

Jim I have seen these pictures before and every time I see them again I shake all over and tears run down my face. This is one issue that makes my heart sink into despair. It is what we fought the 2nd world war to end. Or at least I thought that was one reason for going into this conflict with Germany & the Nazi's. But now I wonder if it was only to seize control of all the research into nuclear, medical, etc., and become the new MONSTERS on the block. Because no red blooded American can "Dare" say it was in the best interest of the country and the world! Cowards! Bully's! MONSTERS ARE US of A!

It's the U.S. so why is anyone surprise. IT's a war for profits. Testing of things for Corporates and future wars we'll be starting and on and on We're world wide famous for this type of thing...going back to WW11....all the so called 'medical' experiements and so forth. Now we are the number one nulear threat to the world...our own nation in the mix in line for it's own death and destution upon the people for more profits ...Just how GD stupid can a people become to let their world, their nation, be destroyed by their war monerging Corporates own wreckless, careless use of all these products for the profit of a few. More than sickening but a word other than that escapes me a the moment..perhaps due to the photo's. Our troops, not theirs, kicks in doors of innocent people in Iraq/Afg,... handcuffs familiese and shoot them for just being at other fricken reason and we find this appauling....and it is.... We push horror onto other people everyday and soon ,no doubt ,onto our own with this stuff in particular.
Profits for A FEW. Profits for A FEW. Profits for A FEW. PROFITS.... FOR A FEW. ...FOR A FEW......That's it..that's our reasoning......?

Succinctly (and considering the topic, appropriately) stated, Jae!

There are too many times that those who govern this country have embarrassed me for my citizenship.

This is NOT the country I was raised to be proud of (even with my Native American background, and its own history of designed genocide, weakly excused by "Manifest Destiny").

Call me for testing and detoxificaiton protocols and my services as a MedicoLegal Expert. My goal is to sue US, Canadian, and British Governments to stop DU in all battlefields on Earth.

Dr. Bill Deagle MD 888-212-8871

"Joyce Reilly of the Power Hour Team of Joyce Reilly & Dave Von Kleist is interviewed by Dr. Bill Deagle MD on the Gulf War Syndrome I and II caused by vaccines, NotSo Depleted Uranium, 2PAM Nerve Gas Antidote, and DEET for ridding the grounds of the flees that carrier the Leishmania parasites. With excessive and experimental vaccines, the 20 plus year old in the bottle Anthrax spore vaccination, toxic nucelar DU exposure, the immune systems of our veterans of Gulf War I and Ii were and are overwhelmed with 56 % totally disabled and 75% plus suffering from serious symptoms and disability since service. Some like Joyce were not even deployed but developed symptoms of Gulf War Syndrome from ten vaccines, and she developed a demyelinating illness, though to be Multiple Sclerosis at the time. This DVD is a must see, and order it now to preserve respect for our troops, our constitution and our liberty. Joyce and the Power Hour Team of Joyce and Dave have done a marvellous servic. They have offered10,000 copies of this DVD to veterans suffering with aftereffects of their time in the Gulf or other military service were there were experimented on and have suffered physically or psychologically. All vets need is their DD214 form. Please block personal information when you fax to the Power Hour.

Dr Bill Deagle MD is a civilian doctor who took care of the tank divison returning from Gulf War I and veterans who were exposed to the Sarin nerve gas agent. These men were told to use their Valium and 2 PAM nerve antidote autoinjectors, when they ran out of cannisters downwind to the detonation of the Iraqi Sarin gas plant. This shows total lack of care for our men and women in service. Get this DVD and see more than half a century of horrendous experimentation on our men and women in the US Armed Forces. This is a must see for Canadian and British service men and women, as they also wer exposed to the same vaccines, DU and toxins.

Call me for testing and detoxificaiton protocols and my services as a MedicoLegal Expert. My goal is to sue US, Canadian, and British Governments to stop DU in all battlefields on Earth.

These are Heartless and Dark Beings that are in Control of the masses and it is important that each of us try to do what we can to awaken the People to this. These are MEN that rule NOT Gods......Men and Men can be removed.

Scott left a comment on the Tar Sand thread, and I hope he will not mind my taking a piece of it and add it here.

He said: "The way things were, and still are in people who are closer to nature, is that leader is followed because they are loved; their wisdom and compassion have served their people well and their people love them for it. If that leader wanted to do something that would cause them all harm, they would choose a new leader immediately, based on wisdom, selflessness and compassion. We can learn so much from them."

The American Indians did things that way........Why don't we? We are suppose to be some of the best educated of our day........why don't we?

This DU and what it is doing to the lives of the unborn, the children that are alive there now, the adults, the environment in general, is unacceptable, as our what they are doing with the Tar Sands in Canada, as what Monsanto is doing to the seeds and our food supply, to the Farmers in India that are killing themselves enmass and the forest that give us fresh air in the rainforest as we are polluting our air faster and faster, the forests being clear cut where the Tigers live are down to 400 all for toilet paper, why can't hemp be grown for that?

There comes a point......that the very survival of everyone and everything is pulled into question of will it make it. No baby should have to come into a world like that and we as the citizens of the World MUST stand up and do something to stop it, for if we do not, then we might as well dig our own graves and crawl in.

Oh and please men, don't get your nose bent, not all men are bad and not all women are sweet and nice. It is a fact though, that rulers without the woman's involvement in direct ways tend to give us what we see in the world today. Also the few women that do climb to the top, tend to be more agressive as they had to be that way to get there so tend to act more like men. When societies are structured in such a way, that equality to the women is just a fact, then these women don't have to be agressive to be in positions, they just ARE.

One of the facts that is often overlooked with the foundation of this Country is that even though our ForeFathers based our Democracy on the Six Nations or as also commonly known as the Iroquois Confederacy; they failed to take in ALL the principles that the American Indians used.....that the Clan Mothers and GrandMothers also had an equal voice in ALL matters, and many times it was the Women who had the FINAL say on the matter at hand.

The ForeFathers never brought that over as women in the White Society were not given any rights at all other than to bear children, household duties, and care of the gardens and livestock. They could not own anything nor could they even vote let alone have equal political say in matters. If the ForeMothers had been considered things would be very different, in fact if the First Nations People had been respected and the ForeFathers had TRULY learned from them, then we'd not have this DU to begin with, let alone all the other environmental nightmares. The Heart was crushed out of this land......until the Dominent Society understands this and a great healing is started we will have more of the same until we no longer exists like the dinosaurs. Our Earth Mother will recover.......but we won't be crawling around on her like a bunch of unwanted lice.

Yes DU is evil as it gets & when they still use it knowing the results then surely God will punish accordingly! We have free wills & God is not to blame for what we choose to do, but when we know that we should do something & fail to, then we are as guilty as the ones who are doing it! Thanks Barbara.

Oh Barbara, your story reminds me of a brave woman, Margaret Hassan. I will never forget this Saint of a feisty Irish woman who gave her life caring for the children of Iraq who are also innocent victims of this. My eyes tear up thinking of her. I hope you don't mind if I use this moment to remember her, & to educate others of what a brave woman she was. I believe if we remember them, they will never die. Thank you

Kidnapped - The Heroine Who Offered Hope for Iraq
by Robert Fisk

Margaret? Margaret Hassan kidnapped? She who said to me that soon, very soon, "there will be more than one lost generation" in Iraq?

Is there no end to the kidnappers' targets? Margaret Hassan was abducted at 7.30 yesterday morning on her way to work running Care International's Iraq operation. Soon afterwards, Arabic al-Jazeera television showed her sitting in a room looking calm, if concerned. It also showed close-ups of her identification papers and said an unnamed Iraqi group claimed it had kidnapped her.

Margaret was the enemy of United Nations sanctions on Iraq. She is the symbol of all those who believe that Iraq - a real, free, unoccupied Iraq - has a future; and all we can be told is that she, too, has joined the legion of the unpersons, the "disappeared", the list of those who, because of their language or the colour of their eyes or their nationality, have slipped into Iraq's dark hole.

The ultimate disgrace yesterday was to hear British diplomats who supported those deadly sanctions weeping their crocodile tears for "Margaret".

Tony Blair rushed to say Britain will do all that it can to secure her release. "There is really a limit at this stage what I can say to you, but obviously we will do whatever we can," he said, while standing beside the UN secretary general, Kofi Annan, in London.

"It shows the kind of people we are up against that they are prepared to kidnap somebody like this. We do not know which group it is."

But Mr Blair, remember, fully supported the sanctions which Margaret loathed. And, of course, he supported George Bush's invasion that led to the chaos that has engulfed Iraq.

Kidnappers have killed at least 35 foreign nationals in Iraq since the invasion. Iraqis seen as co-operating with the occupation forces or the US-backed Iraqi interim government have also been targeted for kidnapping. This week two Macedonian contractors who had been abducted were beheaded. And two weeks ago the same fate befell the British contractor Ken Bigley. And now Margaret has been taken. Margaret, who above all is a humanitarian.

I first met her when The Independent exposed the use by the Americans and British of depleted uranium munitions in the 1991 Gulf War, and the explosion of cancers and leukaemia that afflicted Iraqi children in the years that followed. Readers of The Independent donated 250,000 for medicines and Care - for which Margaret worked - undertook to distribute the vaccines around the hospitals of Iraq. Margaret and her Dublin colleague Judy Morgan found the trucks to take these vital medicines across Iraq to try to save the small creatures in the children's "wards of death".

I watched Margaret cajole the truck drivers, plead with the hospitals, bargain with the air-conditioning moguls to deliver vincristine and other fluids to the children's hospitals in the October heat.

For 30 years Margaret has devoted herself to Iraq. She started working for Care International soon after it began operations there in 1991 at the end of the Gulf War. She has a staff of 60 Iraqis who run nutrition, health and water programmes the length and breadth of the country. She is married to an Iraqi and, though Irish-born, she carries British and Iraqi nationality.

She "considers herself an Iraqi national", Amber Meikle, Care International's spokeswoman, said yesterday. "We want to stress that she sees herself as an Iraqi. Iraq is her home. She has been living there for many years and would never consider coming back to Britain."

Margaret is a driven woman, as I recall so well. Every week, every day, every hour, the evidence of human tragedy on a massive scale - a UN sanctions disaster which they could do little or nothing to alleviate - mounted on their desks in the Care office in a fly-blown estate of Baghdad.

Yesterday, I went back to an old blue-covered notebook and an interview with Margaret. It is dated 5 October 1998. In the margin, I have written of her: "She doesn't shout when she speaks, but her indignation - uttered above her office's hissing air-conditioner - comes across as a cry, angry and frustrated, from someone who is tired of listening to platitudes."

These were black days, but the tragedy continues to unfold for her adopted nation. "This is a man-made disaster," she told me, banging her right hand into the palm of her left. "Yes, some people have benefited from what we have done. But we can't solve the problem of Iraq. It's got no economy. We can't replace this with aid."

Margaret pulled a thick file across her desk back in 1998. "What use can we be here?" she asked. "Now if this was a Third World country, we could bring in some water pumps at a cost of a few hundred pounds and they could save thousands of lives. But Iraq was not a Third World country before the [1991] war, and you can't run a developed society on aid. The doctors here are excellent - many were trained in Europe as well as Iraq - but because of sanctions, they haven't had access to a medical journal for eight years."

Margaret suspected that westerners had somehow divorced themselves from ordinary Iraqis during the 13 years of UN sanctions.

"I don't think we see them as people," she told me. "If you see someone suffering, if you have a grain of humanity in you, you have to respond to that. Sanctions are inhuman and what we are doing cannot redress that inhumanity.

"They are contrary to the UN charter which enshrines the rights of the individual. It's a contradiction, a hypocrisy. It's Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde."

There were times when even she was almost beaten. I remember one afternoon, after she had sent our medicines to the doomed cancer babies of Baghdad, when Margaret seemed defeated.

"The people here are really, really suffering," she said. "Do people know what it's like for a mother to wake up each morning not knowing how to feed her children? I don't think westerners see Iraqis as ordinary people."

Before the war to remove Saddam Hussein, Margaret was among the many who warned the British Government that an invasion and occupation would produce a humanitarian crisis in a country already severely weakened by the embargoes.

It is the ultimate irony that a woman who was brave and good and decent enough to oppose the shameful sanctions with which we chose to purge the Iraqi people should now be taken by kidnappers in Baghdad.

If ever there was a true friend of Iraqis, it is Margaret Hassan. Brave, outspoken, steadfast, she is a heroine. Her captors should be humbled that they can speak to so fine a lady.

I would like to quote two great men:
"What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty or democracy?"
--Mahatma Gandhi
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children....under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron." Dwight D. Eisenhower, U.S. President and 5 star General during WW II.

I am aware of that Rinie; but thank you.....I am and was speaking from this soil, now called the usa. It is the people of this land that have brought the DU to the Country of Afghanistan. The Heart has been ripped out of this land, this soil, by a people who brought as you say, ways that were introduced way in the past.

It is from this land today that much grief is being projected all over the world, that was first inflicted upon the First Nations people of whom the Dominent Culture took all it wanted from it, except the Heart part. It took the Eagle as it's symbol but not the Insight that Eagle offered, it took the fire for the torch in the Statue of Liberty but it forgets the Life of the Flame and only uses the destructive part of the Fire. As I said, it took from the Six Nations what they wanted but without the women's part it was imbalance and out of harmony.

Good quotes Patrick. I have the bottom one on my profile page.

This is terrible, and all done for the power and greed of a few. You can see what happens as large corporations and military take over our governments. President Eisenhower warned everyone about this a long time ago, and believe it or not, he was a republican (not like they are today of course).

We all need to be reiminded what is truly going on around us, as we are the only ones who can stop it. The more light shown on these dark things and people, the more we can get upset enough to do something.

But, that is part of the repulbican take over. Get the people worried about food and health care, keep their minds off of what is really happening (think Fox and gang), and then they can get away with murder.....actually.

Thanks dearest Barbara for not allowing for this to be forgotten. The images of what these horrible chemicals do to children are so horrible. I can't imagine how much suffering this causes to these families, and how much physical pain these children must suffer for the short time they have on this earth after strikken with these deformations and internal poisonings.

How can humans be so blinded by greed and lusts of this world to the point where the same causes them to become the most destructive and murderous monsters imaginable. They lack compassion and are devoid of anything that makes them human, or such crimes on others would never be possible.

Again, thank you Barbara, I share your pain about this and also thanks so much dear Carole for forwarding this to me. God bless you all my friends. :)

Thank you very much Barbara for showing this issue to us, thanks to Carole for forwarding.

Actually this is a very dangerous issue, Using DU in wars have continuous consequences on people. Kill in the future.

As said by AbdEssalam, This DU used in Iraq, and Gaza too, in Afghanistan people die and no one knows about them.

"Depleted Uranium (DU) weaponry has been used against Iraq for the first time in the history of recent wars. The magnitude of the complications and damage related to the use of such radioactive and toxic weapons on the environment and the human population mostly results from the intended concealment, denial and misleading information released by the Pentagon about the quantities, characteristics and the area’s in Iraq, in which these weapons have been used.

Revelation of information regarding what is called the Gulf War Syndrome among exposed American veterans helped Iraqi researchers and Medical Doctors to understand the nature of the effect of these weapons, and the means required to investigate further into this issue.

The synergetic impact on health due to the post Gulf War I economical sanctions and DU related radioactive contamination raised the number of casualties in contaminated areas as in southern Iraq.

Continual usage of DU after Gulf War I on other Iraqi territories through the illegal No-Fly Zones and the major DU loaded Cruise Missiles attack of year 1998, all contributed in making the problem increasingly complex.

During 2003, military operations conducted in Iraq by the invading forces used additional rounds of DU in heavily populated areas such as Baghdad, Samawa and other provinces. It is only fair to conclude that the environment in Iraq and its population have been exposed continuously to DU weaponry or its contaminating remains, since 1991.

Accordingly millions of Iraqi’s have received higher doses of radioactivity than ordinary background levels. As a result a multi-fold increase of low level radiation exposure related diseases have been registered since 1995. An increase of children’s leukemia, congenital malformations, breast cancer etc…

The shift of leukemia incidence rates towards younger children during the recent years, and its association with geographically distributed contaminated areas, offers strong evidence of the correlation between LLR exposure and resulted health damages."

Depleted uranium found in Gaza victims

"Medics tell Press TV they have found traces of depleted uranium in some Gaza residents wounded in Israel's ground offensive on the strip.

Norwegian medics told Press TV correspondent Akram al-Sattari that some of the victims who have been wounded since Israel began its attacks on the Gaza Strip on December 27 have traces of depleted uranium in their bodies."

"Verifiable statistics for Iraq will remain elusive for some time, but widespread field studies in Afghanistan point to the existence of a large scale public health disaster. In May of 2002, the UMRC (Uranium Medical Research Center) sent a field team to interview and examine residents and internally displaced people in Afghanistan. The UMRC field team began by first identifying several hundred people suffering from illnesses and medical conditions displaying clinical symptoms which are considered to be characteristic of radiation exposure. To investigate the possibility that the symptoms were due to radiation sickness, the UMRC team collected urine specimens and soil samples, transporting them to an independent research lab in England.

UMRC's Field Team found Afghan civilians with acute symptoms of radiation poisoning, along with chronic symptoms of internal uranium contamination, including congenital problems in newborns. Local civilians reported large, dense dust clouds and smoke plumes rising from the point of impact, an acrid smell, followed by burning of the nasal passages, throat and upper respiratory tract. Subjects in all locations presented identical symptom profiles and chronologies. The victims reported symptoms including pain in the cervical column, upper shoulders and basal area of the skull, lower back/kidney pain, joint and muscle weakness, sleeping difficulties, headaches, memory problems and disorientation."

I literally couldn't believe my eyes -- these photos look just the ones taken after the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atom bomb drops in Japan in 1945 -- horrific. Why hasn't the national news covered this horror?

My God, I'm going directly to the petition to ban this evil.

Be sure to note the dates in this article, 2005, and guess who was President, and Vice President yet we can't or won't try them for war crimes That makes the whole Congress complacent with the problem. Rumsfield can't go overseas because of warrents out for his arrest for war crimes. As tragic as these photos are, it is happening here with the return of soldiers from the first Gulf War. This gentleman talks about Afganstan but there was even more DU used in Iraq. As long as there is a big profit to be made people will hid their heads and maintain they didn't know. Greed...greed, greed.

Thanks Barbara; these pictures are heartwrenching. How can they make and use such dangerous weapons on Human Beings; knowing full well the results of their evil. I just cannot fathom out if these are human beings or devils that walk this exquisite planet of ours. Having sleepless nights; cannot begin to imagine how their parents and families must feel. If the taliban members increase after this; can anyone blame them?

And to add insult to the injury the brutality and evil of the US Troops, evident in these article on the afghani innocents. I had to copy and paste below to make sure, that no one Misses reading these 'sic' acts of the american troops; who are hailed as 'Hero' when they come back home to the families.

In the Bagrami area of Kabul, the US forces assaulted a small enclave of nomads. The US forces flew over this enclave and saw nomad women near their tents. They landed their helicopter and kidnapped these women by gunpoint. Subsequently, the US soldiers flew away with these women to some location, where these women are gang-raped. After these women were raped and died in the process, the soldiers flew them back to the community from where they were kidnapped. However, this time the helicopter did not land, instead, the women were thrown down from the helicopter. This is not unique for the US forces since they committed similar crimes in Vietnam. American forces are too much of cowards to have landed because they knew they would be shot in revenge.

Another incident occurred when a US helicopter spotted an old shepherd grazing his animals. The shepherd was 70 years old but this did not appear to matter to the US forces. The helicopter landed and raped the old man. His relatives told me that on the one hand we are furious about the crime committed by these beasts, but on the other hand we are curious "what kind of rotten people Americans are."

In another incident, a truck driver was driving his truck north from the Kabul, passing the US base in Bagram when the US patrol stopped him. In the passenger seat of the truck a young boy was sitting. This young man wanted to learn driving a truck, but tragically for him, the Americans noticed him and asked him to step out. The young man stepped out and the soldiers took him away from the truck and gang raped him. When the boy returned to the truck, he was crying and furious. Later that day, he committed suicide. This is another gift of the US's democracy.
In the American military base Bagram, north of Kabul, 15 translators while working for the US forces were gang raped by the very forces for which they worked. Although I have no sympathy for those that work for the US forces, however, no one should be subjected to such extreme cruelty. One of the translators said,

"Around 25 to 30 American soldiers enter the area where we were sleeping and started raping us. I was conscious until to the third soldier started raping me and then lost consciousness." (Hamid-translator for the US forces, June 2005)

In Badakhshan province, the US soldiers had taken forty (40) women and extracted their teeth for oral sex. One member of the parliament, who is a close supporter of Karzai, said:

"The issue of these women treated in such a miserable way was about to get some publicity, however, the US officials made sure that this does not happen." (Parliament member--I can not reveal his name)

In another incident, the US forces were searching local houses between JalaAbad and Kabul, when they entered and tried to search the house, they came across the woman of the house, since she was very beautiful, the soldiers decided to take her to the US base. The husband was not at home. When he returned from Peshawar, he went to get his wife. He told his wife,

"To me you are now my mother and sister, I can not touch you any more, but tell me if they have violated your dignity? 'They raped me by force, I was conscious for the first three men, then lost consciousness'." (The husband whose name I can not reveal his name. He joined Taliban afterward and I do not blame him.)

A young man committed suicide in the Laic-e-Mariam in KairKhana area after the Americans in an NGO raped his sister.

These are some of the very few examples of the many crimes committed by the US forces in Afghanistan, but unfortunately, the coward officials of the puppet regime call it reconstruction. To add insult to injury, the two American soldiers, who murdered two detainees at Bagram airbase, received only 2 and 3 months in jail for crime ruled homicide by the US medical examiners. The two detainees were beaten at their legs while hanging from the ceiling until their legs "pulverized". The term "pulverized" was used by the medical examiner to articulate the magnitude of the fatal injury and the inhumane way of murdering. When one of the victims asked for water, the soldier poured water over his face; subsequently, the poor man died. This is American reconstruction of Afghanistan."

Is this what families of these US Troops imagined their 'hero' did, while participating in 'Wars'. Can families of these rotten soldiers, stand up proud, that their soldiers are fighting a war.

Say NO to WARS; If you do NOT allow your men and women to join the army; there will be NO Soldiers to fight these deceiptful and false Wars. There is nothing patriotic about todays' wars; these murderous invasions should be called 'Crimes against Humanity' instead of wars.

I have already signed the petition time ago but am thoroughly disappointed at the result to date:

Signatures since 17 September 2006: 7681 persons , 65 organisations- ?? How POOR IS THIS !! Every animal petition gets more sigs in a short period of time! So please circulate this again!

After about 16 months here in C2 and learning about the true magnitude of all the evil of mankind and destruction of our Earth I must conclude that the human race should stop evolving and best become extinct.
This is not what we were created for, so if we are unable to conduct ourselves in a humane way we lose the right to be.

Maybe it's because the mainstream is owned by folks who profit from wars, war machines, stealing the resources of others, and other cruel and unusual businesses ventures like stocks in legal "Killer" drugs, oil polluting companies like BP, Chevron, Exxon, Monsanto, etc., Conflicts of interests abound in America today! That's way the Supreme Court "Five" decided to make it easier for those who cheat to stay out of jail so they can finish their dastardly deeds..

If ever the people of the world, with Americans of good faith taking the lead, needed to "RUMBLE", "IT'S NOW! It's NOW! Certain hypocrites within the government, and many of you know who they are, like to evoke the future generations issue much as they evoke the name of God. Jesus must be beside himself when it comes to what all nations, in one way or another, are doing to the least of these. More especially the children! THE CHILDREN! What monster would harm a child?

I cannot dig deep enough into my soul to find any justification for what our leaders and those who serve their dastardly deeds do in the name of democracy! In our name! In America's name! These cowards who serve gr$$d and lust for empire have no idea what democracy is anymore then they understand the teachings of the gentle Jesus. The thoughts that roam around in my thought process about this cruelty imposed on the unsuspecting makes my head spin.

There were many times I was not here at Care2 because of other pressing activism issues. Rally's, assisting families, Looking after a person I love dearly who has been in pain since his 1989 injury. The pain and suffering one goes through after an injury, especially an injury caused by working for the pernicious private sector in and of itself becomes the challenge of a lifetime. Then to be ostracized by the system, private sector they are to obliged to regulate but protect, is a pain that never ceases till you quit, walk away, and or die. "We" chose to stand firm and fight and fight we did for the better part of 8 years. My heart aches for those who have been through this or, going through it at this very moment.

In some of my shares I have expressed that all these issues, in one way or another, are connected. And so they are.

What you do to the least of these Jesus has said you do to me. How many times must he and innocence be punished for the evils of men? When will enough, be enough?

Note: President Obama have you not had enough? Have you forgot the promises made to a people who believed in you? Do you ever think about your mom and what she went through because of her cancer & the system? Do you think about what your family, grandmother, granddad, those who have since passed, would expect from you as the President of these United States? Many Americans pinned their hopes on you sir! They did this because you made them feel that someone cared about truth and justice. Dig deep President Obama! Who are you really? People of sound thinking could not want to see another Republican in the Presidency but so far there's no difference between Democrats and Republicans less a very few "Brave Hearts"

I have searched my mind to understand why you did not bring these brave hearts, Kucinich, Sanders, Grayson, and the few others that exist, into your network of folks seeking change. Instead you stacked the deck with the same self-serving garbage that brought this down on US & The world.. Your Justice dept.needs to understand what it means to be the Attorney General of these United States. Stop picking on the "LITTLE GUY"

"Depleted Uranium (The use of depleted uranium by the Department of Defense has created a slow Chernobyl in the Middle East.)

Depleted uranium (DU) (and sometimes plutonium) is used in armour-piercing shells by the US and UK armed forces. These munitions were extensively used in the Gulf War and in Kosovo.

The uranium in these weapons can vaporize on impact / catching fire and the vapour and dust is dangerous if inhaled or ingested.

All uranium and plutonium is toxic as well as radio-active, so even when radiation isn't high enough to be harmful, the material is still poisonous.

The APC has asked the Australian government if Australian forces have DU weapons or have used them, and if health effects have been investigated and monitored.

The government replied that DU munitions have been used, when arms bought from the US came supplied with DU ammunition. This has now been used up.

The government has done no tests on the health effects on personnel, or on environmental effects.

There are alternatives to using DU in armor-piercing munitions. Germany, for example, uses tungsten which is more expensive but as effective."

RE: Declassified 1943 memo to General L.R. Groves - a blueprint for depleted

Dear Congressman McDermott,

Mr. Joe Pemberton, a lawyer in Bellingham, Washington, has asked me to provide you with scientific information on the critical and overlooked issues of particle size, penetration of gas masks, and mobility of depleted uranium formed under battleground conditions. It is also powerful scientific information to counter false statements recently made by the White House1 and the DOD2.

I am writing this letter out of concern for the military personnel who may now be serving on or near the Gulf War battlefields in Iraq and may be quartered in areas already contaminated by depleted uranium munitions. But they are not my only concern. The Gulf War Veterans who are now suffering severe health consequences have also been exposed to depleted uranium, chemicals and biological materials including vaccines while serving in Iraq and Kuwait.

The children and people of Iraq have been the greatest victims from exposure to depleted uranium15 used in the Gulf War and will continue to be. Over time, they cannot escape the chronic, low level exposure to internal radiation from depleted uranium and its decay products (see Attach. 7) as it cycles and recycles through their environment3 in water, air and food products.

Depleted uranium dust will continue to be an extreme hazard to soldiers, civilians, populations in countries downwind6,8, and the environment as a radiological contaminant to all living systems for ten half-lives or 45 BILLION years.

I am a former Lawrence Berkeley Lab and Lawrence Livermore Lab scientist, and now work with a group of independent scientists called the Radiation and Public Health Project4. Together this group has written ten books on the health effects of low level radiation. Presently I am writing a science report on depleted uranium for the United Nations Human Rights Subcommission, now investigating the illegality and use of depleted uranium munitions. I have written the Foreword (Attach.1) to Discounted Casualties: The Human Cost of Depleted Uranium by Akira Tashiro5.

Attached (Attach. 2) is a declassified memo to General L. R. Groves, director of the Manhattan Project, dated October 30, 1943. Major Doug Rokke provided me with this memo. It summarizes a report written by Manhattan Project physicists Drs. James B. Conant, A. H. Compton and H.C. Urey on the dissemination of very fine radioactive material as a method of warfare. It is a "blueprint" for depleted uranium as it has been used in Iraq, Kuwait, Kosovo, Bosnia and Afghanistan during the past decade. The memo details the use of very fine and superfine particles of radioactive materials as a military weapon. Depleted uranium, produces very fine and superfine particles in large amounts as it burns. The 1943 memo outlines what was known in 1943 and below are my comments:

- A gas warfare instrument: the memo indirectly referred to fission products from Fermi's nuclear pile or radioactive waste like depleted uranium. The pyrophoric effect of depleted uranium, which spontaneously burns when heated to 170 C (once it is fired) and on impact, effectively forms very large numbers of extremely fine (0.1 micron) and submicroscopic particles as small as 0.001 micron or 10 Ångstroms (see Attach. 3 - Chart "Characteristics of Particles and Particle Dispersoids") as described in the memo. Particles in this size range behave like a gas when inhaled, disperse in the lungs to the blood lung barrier where the white blood cells (greater than 7microns in diameter) engulf the tiny particles of depleted uranium and carry them throughout the body. Once these particles have been engulfed by blood cells or lodged in tissues, they may not be detectable in the urine. Contaminated personnel will take the depleted uranium home, deposited in tissues throughout their bodies.

There is no known treatment for exposure.

- It will permeate a gas mask filter: particles in the 0.1 micron range will penetrate even a HEPA filter (High Efficiency Particulate Airfilter - see Attach. 4 - HEPA chart) in large numbers. The filters in gas masks issued to military personnel are much less efficient than HEPA filters. There are 1 billion particles of 0.1 micron diameter in a cubic meter of normal air. It is clear that a man (without a gas mask) breathing at a normal rate (about 28 cubic meters per day6) and retaining 75% of the very fine particulate matter in the respiratory system6 will inhale very large numbers of very fine particles in a short time period.

In a day an average man would normally inhale 28 million particles in the 0.1 micron range through a gas mask with HEPA filters. It would take one billion fine particles to fill the period at the end of this sentence. On the battlefield during live fire, the high concentrations of fine and very fine depleted uranium particles could increase the numbers inhaled in the small particle range by magnitudes.

The gas masks issued to military personnel now deployed to the Gulf Region are defective and do not provide even a minimum of protection to personnel. Recently I went on a speaking tour in 3 northeastern states with Major Doug Rokke, January 25-February 1, 2003. In nearly every talk we gave, a National Guardsman or other military person would tell us that their masks fell off when they tilted their heads.

Air filters in gas masks also fail as they are wetted by moisture from breathing or are used in the rain.

There is no possible protection from exposure to very fine particles of depleted uranium through filtering of air.

- As a terrain contaminant: the dispersal of very fine particles of depleted uranium will contaminate the terrain and deny access to either side except at the risk of exposure. That includes civilians and animals who may live there after the battle. The half-life of depleted uranium - 4.5 billion years - leaves the contaminated terrain radioactive forever.

Small particles less than 1 micron in diameter do not settle from the air (see Attach. 3 - Chart "Characteristics of Particles and Particle Dispersoids") but become incorporated into atmospheric dust (see Attach. 5 - Chart "Natural Aerosols") and are transported around the earth until they are removed ("rainout") by rain, pollution or snow3. Seasonal climate change, agricultural activities, fires and other natural and man-made disturbances will continue to remobilize particles in the upper dust level contaminating terrains off the battlefield.

Weathering of larger particles of depleted uranium deposited on the battlefield7 will contribute to concentrations of depleted uranium fine and superfine particles in the air and upper dust level.

Air monitors in Hungary8 and Greece during bombing in Kosovo and Bosnia measured Uranium 238 carried by the wind from the battlefields. Seasonal fluctuations of depleted uranium particles in the air have been reported in Kuwait6.

- Water and food contamination: the depleted uranium dust will cycle through the environment both on and off the battlefield contaminating water supplies and food. Food grown in contaminated areas will be transported to markets and contaminate populations and areas far from the battlefields. Wind, water, birds9 and animals who transport the depleted uranium in their droppings, slowly contaminate wider and wider areas.

- Internal contamination: inhalation of very fine depleted uranium dust particles is extremely damaging to the respiratory tract and will get into the blood stream where it is carried by blood cells and contaminates tissues throughout the body. These "hot particles"10 will continue to emit alpha and gamma radiation (see Attach. 6 - photo "Hot particle in lung tissue") as they travel throughout the body or where they rest in tissue. After the Uranium 238 nucleus decays, the radioactive daughter product which forms (see Attach. 7) will continue to decay to other isotopes as many as four times. This will increase the level of radioactive exposure by magnitudes. Depleted uranium particles lodged in tissue will decay and continue emitting higher levels of radioactivity from daughter isotopes into the surrounding tissues.

SYNERGISTIC EFFECTS: The health effects from exposure to a combination of radiation, chemicals, and biological agents was not addressed in this WW II memo. This is a critical issue on the battlefield and should be considered in studies of Gulf War Illness. The combination of radiation with heavy metals, chemicals and biological toxins accelerate and increase the adverse health effects of exposure. The effects are unknown since very little research exists in this field11.

Dr. Hari Sharma, a radiochemist living in Canada and member of the Radiation and Public Health Project, has measured depleted uranium levels in the tissues of 71 residents of Basra who died after the Gulf War from cancers12. They were in the age range of 35-50 years. He found high concentrations of depleted uranium in tissue samples from these individuals. The levels were about the same throughout the tissues, suggesting that very fine particles were transported in the blood and deposited or lodged throughout the body.

Dr. Thomas Cahill, Emeritus Professor of Physics and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of California at Davis, conducted an independent study of the air around Ground Zero at the World Trade Center after the 9/11 disaster13. Using very sophisticated monitoring instruments14 which detect very fine and ultra fine particles, Cahill and his group monitored the smoldering pile at the WTC for 5 months following the disaster from one mile north of the center. They measured concentrations of particles in six size ranges from 2.5 microns to 0.09 microns13. They reported the highest concentrations of very fine particles of metals ever reported in the US13, and unprecedented numbers of very fine and super fine particles13. This air monitoring study of the WTC provided new information about very fine and superfine particles which have rarely been studied. Burning metals and other materials at high temperatures generate very large amounts of very small particles. For this reason depleted uranium which has burned is particularly hazardous.

The EPA has verified that depleted uranium was in the plane that crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11 18,19 and that the crash site was contaminated. Residents of New York City detected radiation on hand held geiger counters at the WTC site. The EPA not only failed to protect emergency response personnel at both sites, but did not report or measure13 concentrations of very fine particles at any of the 9/11 plane crash locations. These are the most hazardous to health, and many personnel who worked at the crash sites are now very ill.

Dr. Cahill also studied the Kuwaiti oil field fires following the Gulf War.

A new report from the European Parliament has been released "2003 Recommendations of the European Committee on Radiation Risk: Health Effects of Ionising Radiation Exposure at Low Doses for Radiation Protection Purposes" Regulators' Edition: Brussels, 2003 10. The report was written by 46 international scientists and has over 550 references to epidemiological studies which include nuclear site leukemias, Chernobyl infants, minisatellite mutations, weapons fallout cancers, DU Gulf Veterans, and Iraqi children.

The report concludes that the International Committee on Radiation Protection (ICRP) determined international standards for risk and dose effects from studies on A-bomb survivors which were based on high dose, external, acute exposures. The ICRP model only considered cancer as a health risk associated with radiation exposure. The ICRP model, using "bathtub" chemistry, "steam engine" physics, and deceptive reporting, produced faulty and fraudulent estimates of risk and dose effects. Additionally, because the ICRP model is based on acute, high dose, external exposure it cannot accurately determine risks or dose response for internal, chronic, isotopic exposures. For this reason, the ICRP and ECRR models are mutually exclusive.

This new ECRR report based on epidemiological studies, concludes that the health effects of low level radiation exposure have been underestimated by the ICRP model by 100-1000 times. It also includes other health effects due to radiation exposure from global weapons fallout. In addition to cancer it estimates the number of foetal deaths, infant mortality, and predicts "a 10% loss of life quality integrated over all diseases and conditions in those who were exposed over the period of global weapons fallout".

The committee concluded that underestimates of risk and dose effects for depleted uranium exposure could be very great since the effect at the cell level may be very different than other types of radiation exposures. For this reason the health effects of depleted uranium exposure in Gulf Veterans will be investigated in depth by this committee and will be presented in a new report.

Internal exposure to depleted uranium is a "novel" exposure to an altered form of natural isotopes. The size, shape, surface texture, density, chemical composition and other physical and chemical factors of the particles greatly affect the health impact and damage to the cells of any biological system from depleted uranium exposure. Particle size may be the most overlooked and one of the most important characteristics of depleted uranium dust formed on the battlefield. After burning, depleted uranium is altered both physically and chemically and estimates of risk to health and dose effects cannot be based on previous studies of naturally occurring uranium. In the Research Report Summaries7 of depleted uranium studies done for the military between 1974 and 1999, they clearly provide information and concerns in these studies about the hazards of depleted uranium both to health, exposure on the battlefield and damage to the environment. This summary is well worth reading as it provides a timeline of the military politicizing decisions on the use of depleted uranium over 25 years. For example, in a 1980 Army report17:

This report provides an excellent history of the logic behind the Army's decision to use DU as a kinetic energy, armored-piercing munition. DU's final selection over tungsten was based on several reasons, including the lower initial cost of the penetrator itself and its better overall performance. DU and tungsten were rated even for "producibility". Tungsten had the advantage for safety, environmental concerns, and deployment.

Depleted uranium is being used as an effective munition on the battlefield and as a radiological weapon to destroy the genetic future of the Iraqi people15. Before the Gulf War, Iraq was the most developed and advanced country in the Middle East16. Writing, religion, poetry, music and science began in the region which includes Iraq, the Cradle of Civilization. The ability of the Iraqi people has been recognized for millenia. The Iraqi people are more feared than Saddam Hussein by the US. Their talent for creativity, ability to be self-determined, and their natural resources have made them the target of the US Government, US oil companies and the Department of Defense.

In November of 1991, Richard Berta, the Western Regional Inspector for the Department of Energy who was based at the Lawrence Livermore Lab where I worked, told me: "The Pentagon exists for the oil companies."

The use of depleted uranium by the Department of Defense has created a slow Chernobyl in the Middle East.

With my best wishes and hopes that this radiation nightmare will finally come to an end, and with thanks for your efforts to move the issue into the light, "

Good God,.. so what we have here is "pushing the red button in slow motion over a number of years",- agreed?
And those who feel that depopulation still isn't proceeding fast enough, wellWhy the heck they have Monsanto to speed it up..
Why the heck isn't the UN / commission in charge doing a darn thing about this??
And was there any response from that Congressman or Congress or Govmt ???

Update on DU "Six years on since the US bombardment of the Iraqi city of Fallujah, local residents are still bearing the brunt of the brutal attack on the city.

With cancer, birth defects and infant mortality on the rise many experts believe the diseases being the outcome of the US-led attacks and the use of depleted uranium in the war.

In this episode of News Analysis, the issue is discussed with experts around the world."

Cheers Barbara... Dandelion, Carole, Jim etc for the links and comments...

This is genocide! Using DU is Genocide!!

I signed the ICBUW petition a while back. Why hasn't it been banned, yet??? Why on Earth is this still allowed to continue????

Ban it NOW!!!

This song was written during a time similar to the times we are experiencing.
If we do nothing but moan and groan the enemy will win. They are betting that we will pick on each other,
after all it's who's closest to you that shares pain and sorrow?

So instead of taking your frustrations out on a loved one or friend it's time to Rumble!
words and music by Woody Guthrie

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

As I was walking a ribbon of highway
I saw above me an endless skyway
I saw below me a golden valley
This land was made for you and me

I've roamed and rambled and I've followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me a voice was sounding
This land was made for you and me

The sun comes shining as I was strolling
The wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
The fog was lifting a voice come chanting
This land was made for you and me

As I was walkin' - I saw a sign there
And that sign said - no tress passin'
But on the other side .... it didn't say nothin!
Now that side was made for you and me!

In the squares of the city - In the shadow of the steeple
Near the relief office - I see my people
And some are grumblin' and some are wonderin'
If this land's still made for you and me.

Chorus (2x)
Gr$$d will not reap what "We" have sown
Unless "We" surrender to fools WE OWN!

This land is your land, this land is my land
This land is not for Kochs and Murdochs,
BP, Massey, Dow or Monsanto
They're no longer welcomed
in the land they plundered
This land was made
for you and me!

I remember watching as people across America were shown cheering as Baghdad was incineratred. American knew the true reason for this illegal war but revenge was on their mind for 9/11. it called for blood and as long as it was Muslims was all that mattered. There is a lot of innocent blood on a lot of hands and their aren't just the military. the same for the bombing of Kuwait which was a lie but like Henry Kissenger, said, Americans buy war like children gobble candy.

There was never any mention of Israel using depleated in Gaza or Lebanon in which 1100 civilians were killed.
