National Defense Authorization Act, Patriot Act and Homeland Security on the march. Freedom of speech has been undermined by laws passed which would "Dare" take truth & freedom of expression and turn them upside down. It's later then we think.. The criminal element that has ripped this nation off and crashed our economy are on the march to quell all "First Amendment" protected dissent.

From what I've heard on this matter this veteran did not post anything like a terrorist act but was expressing his displeasure with his government. He did a tour in Iraq and Afghanistan and has several military medals.

I haven't been to his site/page but it is a 'rule' that military personal are not to present anything politically oriented for anyside...nor to speak out against any military branch/activites and certainly not things of conspiracy theories nature etc....They are suppose to be representing the nation as a whole via nothing but positives about the nation/miliatary/gov. etc. This leaves a lot of grey area probably when it comes to 'social site' lke facebook. I am also unable to view the video at this time.. Not knowing what he had/has on his site/page .so a little blank I guess ya could say on the story details but thought I'd throw in what I know about military and those in it who express political/military views on open/public forums..public events etc. As 'positive' reps of military only,, is their rule. Break that rule and it's not good for whoever from that moment on.

Frankly, I find it hard to believe that anyone was arrested for "Patriotic Facebook Posts". And it turns out that he was NOT arrested. There is obviously more to the story than what this post tells us.

I have been through his Facebook page and there is nothing there to warrant putting this marine in a hospital for observation. Nothing! I have seen far worse off hand comments from many others and nothing was done. This reeks of politics since many enlisted folks, Marines, have, like it or not, turned their vote over to Ron Paul.

Another point to make, far too many soldiers, veterans who come home with a far different opinion of why they were sent to kill innocence become easy targets of the government. The real loose cannon is always ignored. The loose cannon can be useful tool to a rogue government.. The freedom fighter? Now that's a different story.

And while he was not charged with anything he is still being held, against his will, till he sees a judge on Monday. Why? So they can railroad him into a Psych Ward. Not all folks in Psych Wards belong there... POLITICS!

The oligarchy are trying to scare us into keeping silent because they are losing the information war. Too many people are waking up and turning off their mass media conditioning (hypnosis).

Do not fear them; they cannot silence us all. 'We the people' have the power and our government must serve us or we must create a government that does. This is not difficult; it has been achieved in several countries in our recent history.

Clearly action is best and speaking out is a minimum requirement if we are to save our countries from falling into the hands of ultra rich psychopaths and tyrants.

We must discuss freedom and justice for ALL - it is the only way we can all be safe. We must discuss the reasons for the wars and the 40,000 children who perish each and every day because of usury and fractional Reserve banking. We can create our own cooperatives and separate methods of trade; there is nothing illegal in using forms of currency that are real (as opposed to fiat promissory notes).

Start by throwing away your TV's and research from independent sources of news. There is a lot of misinformation on the internet but at least there is truth amongst it. The corporate mass media is now owned by the same few plutocrats and is completely controlled through the CFR. I can give you endless proof that they are liars; they have even had to admit they lied at least half a dozen times - why would you trust a proven liar?

Talk to each other; gather together with people who have similar goals; look at your similarities and not at the differences. Discuss ways of making life healthier, safer, fairer and less reliant on the fraudulent banksters. Politics is rotten to the core but it is not dead yet; put pressure on the politicians to slow their march to an Orwellian nightmare.

How many times have I posted that the USA became a Fascist State during the puppet regime of G.W Bush. Freedom of speech left when Bush became President who was elected by electoral rigging in Florida on order of the Elite.
I am not just talking about The American Elite but the Real Elite which also operate the Federal Reserve Bank. You know who they are!! The Patriot act is a snow job to arrest people who, as their right under the 1st Amendment, to voice their opinion on anything they right to say except for a few things that may cause harm to people, like shouting Fire in a crowded theater. The DMV5 has been amended to have people evaluated in a psychiatric hospital for mental aberrations when protesting government actions. This was also done during the Bush administration. Update: Rutherford Institute’s official statement:

“CHESTERFIELD, VA - The Rutherford Institute has come to the defense of a former Marine, 26-year-old Brandon Raub, who was arrested, detained indefinitely in a psych ward and forced to undergo psychological evaluations based solely on the controversial nature of lines from song lyrics, political messages and virtual card games which he posted to his private Facebook page. Although the FBI and Chesterfield County police have not charged Brandon Raub, a resident of Chesterfield County, Va., with committing any crime, they arrested Raub on Thursday, August 16, 2012, and transported him to John Randolph Medical Center, where he was held against his will due to alleged concerns that his Facebook (FB) posts were controversial and terrorist in nature. In a hearing held at the hospital, government officials disregarded Raubs explanation that the Facebook posts were being interpreted out of context, sentencing him up to 30 days further confinement in a VA psych ward. In coming to Raubs defense, Rutherford Institute attorneys are challenging Raubs arrest and forcible detention, as well as the governments overt Facebook surveillance and violation of Raubs First Amendment rights.

For government officials to not only arrest Brandon Raub for doing nothing more than exercising his First Amendment rights but to actually force him to undergo psychological evaluations and detain him against his will goes against every constitutional principle this country was founded upon. This should be a wake-up call to Americans that the police state is here, said John W. Whitehead, president of The Rutherford Institute. Brandon Raub is no different from the majority of Americans who use their private Facebook pages to post a variety of content, ranging from song lyrics and political hyperbole to trash talking their neighbors, friends and government leaders.

Brandon Raub, a former Marine who has served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, was detained by FBI agents and police officers at his home in Chesterfield County based upon the nature of content posted to his Facebook page in recent months. Like many Facebook users, Raub uses his FB page to post songs lyrics and air his political opinions, as well as engage in virtual online games with other users. On Thursday, August 16, police and FBI agents arrived at Raubs home, asking to speak with him about his Facebook posts. They did not provide Raub with a search warrant. Raub was cooperative and agreed to speak with them. Without providing any explanation, levying any charges against Raub or reading him his rights, law enforcement officials then handcuffed Raub and transported him first to the police headquarters, then to John Randolph Medical Center, where he was held against his will.

Outraged onlookers filmed the arrest and posted the footage to YouTube. Law enforcement officials have stated in press reports that Raub was not arrested. However, as attorney John Whitehead points out, if the police have put handcuffs on you and youre being held against your will, that qualifies as an arrest. In a hearing before a judge on August 20, government officials again pointed to Raubs Facebook posts as the sole reason for their concern and for his continued incarceration. Ignoring Raubs explanations about the fact that the FB posts were being read out of context and his attorneys First Amendment defense, the judge agreed that Raub should be incarcerated at a VA hospital for up to 30 more days. Rutherford Institute attorneys are working to challenge Raubs detention and the highly unconstitutional nature of the governments actions.

Isn't this what Homeland Security had stated one time, that our returning Veterans were a risk to this Country. Is how they look at the soldiers they send to do the Elites dirty work, then when they return and wake up, they don't want them to speak out on what they know and how they were used and abused.

The fear factor was used to bring in the Patriot Act which should of been dissolved but then Obama didn't let it do that, in fact he signed in the NDAA. I don't care what kind of spin they want to put on it, your rights were signed off. Few spoke up when the Patriots Act was signed and few spoke up to the NDAA, hate to say it people but the overall citizens apathy has sealed your fate. Martin Koolstra is right on with his comment, is what they've done in Russia when citizen dissent, put them in hospital for psychiatric observation. If that doesn't quiet you, then the next step is taken, prison, dead, disappear, and so this is coming to a neighborhood near you....and it could be you next.

"The lawyer who helped secure the release of Brendon Raub, a former Marine forcibly incarcerated in a psychiatric ward by authorities in Virginia for political posts on Facebook, told the Alex Jones Show today that there are currently a further 20 cases in his county alone that are similar in nature to Raub's detention.

John Whitehead of the Rutherford Institute also said that he had been contacted by numerous veterans in the aftermath of Raub's release who had encountered similar problems with authorities attempting to have them declared mentally ill.

Whitehead attributed the high number of cases involving veterans as a consequence of the Department of Homeland Security's aggressive campaign to demonize former servicemembers as domestic extremists.

Despite controversy at the time, DHS chief Janet Napolitano said she stood by an April 2009 DHS intelligence assessment that listed returning vets as likely domestic terrorists.

Just a month later, the New York Times reported on how Boy Scout Explorers were being trained by the DHS to kill "disgruntled Iraq war veterans" in terrorist drills.

The FBI has also gone out of its way to characterize returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan as a major domestic terrorist threat.

Whitehead pointed to efforts on behalf of health authorities in the United States to characterize distrust of authority as a mental illness under the label "oppositional defiant disorder" or ODD.

As we highlighted earlier today, veterans in particular are being targeted in police raids to confiscate their firearms based on the manufactured pretext that they are "mentally defective."

Earlier this year, we also reported on a similar case involving David Sarti, one of the participants in the National Geographic Channel's Doomsday Prepper show. Sarti visited his doctor complaining of chest pains, only to have the doctor later commit him to a psychiatric ward and alert authorities, before Sarti was declared "mentally defective" and put on an FBI list that stripped him of his second amendment rights.

During an interview with Alex Jones last night, Whitehead also revealed that shortly before his release, psychiatrists had threatened to forcibly medicate Raub in order to "brainwash" him.

Critics have made comparisons to the infamous psikhushka psychiatric prisons in the former Soviet Union where dissidents were sent to be isolated, brainwashed, and have their political ideas discredited amongst the general public.

Whitehead added that Brandon Raub is currently at home recovering from his ordeal and that he plans to file a civil lawsuit against the government for damages. Whitehead hopes that the shocking nature of the case will force Congress to begin investigations that could strip the state's power to carry out civil commitments, under which victims are declared mentally ill with little due process and detained in psychiatric wards."
