I personally never understood why it is that people who aren't home the majority of time only have one dog or one cat.....bird etc...in my opinion they should always be 'in 2's'...2 dogs 2cars..one dog one cat etc or so I think...especially if their owners are away from home often or for long periods of time. Pet ople get lonely and that's why many have pets but to have their pet be lonely much of their day ...well, that's not something pills should be used for when it comes to our pets. Just as with human meds, the side effects can also be very unhealthy for them if given such. Give your pets companions and you will find they will be happier companions for yourselves...i.m.o.

‘Instead of attempting to calm or even sedate our stressed pets with pharmaceuticals, it’s about time we started giving our pets the care and attention they really deserve. Only then might we truly be eligible to call ourselves a nation of animal lovers.’
This is just unbelievable - thanks for sharing this post Scooby

Horrible. Wish people would get a friend 4 their pet or adopt 2 together outright.

Truly sad. One of the reasons, after having a single dog tear up my entire back yard in frustration because he hated being alone, that I now make it a rule to have at least two or three dogs, so they have someone to play with of their own kind. And when I see people who plan on working a lot, partying and being out, I politely discourage them from adopting at the shelter where I sometimes volunteer, just because it will turn into their being sent back again due to damage.
