We have found in doing so that we are just providing the local deer heard with an expensive gourmet meal.

back in 2002 I took my front yard and took all the grass out and put in a small pond and dry riverbed. I then used native perennials in the front. They need very little watering. Last year I purchased the now empty lot from landbank and have another 100 X 80 foot lot. now I have to thin out the front yard as some of the plants have really spread and can now start planting up the larger lot to encourage more native animals to my yard.

We have slowly been adding California native plants to our yard. They are better for the bees and birds. Deter pests, use way less water and some, no water at all. Every new plant is now a native plant.

The more native the better. If anyone else notices the ads being posted on these sites please flag them as inappropriate. Disgusting how these people take advantage of a wonderful site like Care3.
