More information :
These people in Egypt are using our endangered birds to sell them as delicacies in Cairo's restaurants. They don't kill them when they are caught, but they break their wings so they can't fly anymore. They send them to Cairo where they are sold in large numbers, and then killed to be eaten in restauarants.
They make a business out of small and helpless birds. The ministery of environmental affairs lets this happen.

Please sign the petition! Thanks a million (for the birds :-))

Why doesn't the European and North African countries as well as the middle eat conform with accepted international bird protection????? We should withhold all foreign aid to such countries -tell Obama.

Hi John,

They do it in Malta too, but not in the same way. They shoot the birds (any, also birds of prey) as a sport, but not for eating, I believe.

France and Spain, I haven't heard of, and I don't think it would be acceptable considering they are part of the European Union. Malta is too btw, and they receive a lot of pressure, but apparently not nearly enough.

Update: you can find an English version of the petition on the website of NABU now.

If you didn't sign because you didn't understand the text before, now you can find the English version as a pdf right above the part where you add your name and address to sign the petition. The captions for the signature are translated in English as well. Thanks!
