Excellent Ancil! The fact that he is a black reporter is even better because if any of us had tried to say this - well the response would have been all kind of names lobbed at us eh? Excellent article!

Yeah, this should go viral . . . about as much as the bubonic plague.

I guess, if you can find enough people to support it, you can relish the fact that you have ignorance in numbers.

Just more hateful commentary prompted by selfish petty people who wouldn't know the truth if they tripped over it.

Jae, Nyack, JC, & Carrie: well said, I've nothing to add.

Ancil S (175)

No Jae,it's me,and I've changed my outlook on politics.I did some research and some soul searching, and my old believes were wrong. The "occupy" movement is no more than a bunch of bums who want to leech of us honest, hard working taxpayers.Obama wants to end capitalism for socialism, and he is weakening our defense, which is why the Embassy in Libya was attacked. And,I'm still not racist. It's not Obama's color that bothers me,it's his policies, and his hate of this country that bothers me.I have just as many black friend as well as white friends, and while they don't always agree with my views,we all still friends. No Jae,my identity has not been stolen, but rather my worldview and my opinions have changed somewhat. No one has brainwashed me,I decided this all on my own. I'm sorry your disappointed in me,it's not my intention to do so.but I've had some second thoughts of Obama, and suffering though this wretched economy,(I was forced into an early retirement at age 50 (I'm 51 now,no job, living with my cousin) with 31 years of service, but still too young to retire, and I'm just receiving $259.00 a month, for the rest of my might be short life(men in my family don't live very long).

I blame Obama for this, looking back,I was better off under Bush than Obama.and Obama can't keeping blaming Bush for this, because he is no longer president. He has had almost 4 years to clean up whatever mess Bush left, and get us on the right track, and yet he has not. So,I have changed parties, perhaps it's a mistake, but I have to go with my gut,and it's telling me to go the other way. Now,if Obama wins, and makes things better, which I very much doubt, than I will go back to being a Democrat.Until then,I'm teetering between being a blue dog Democrat, and a Republican.Like I said,I'm sorry if your upset with me,I still like you as a friend, but I have changed.I hope this does not end our friendship,I value your opinion, even though we might disagree,I still very much like you,and I respect you.Take care, and I hope there are no hard feeling.

What a shame and sin to hate so much.

I really thought that choosing a candidate -- or even a party -- was about deciding which person (or party) best represented your interests.

I am not a big one for tabloids and drama, so I choose -- instead -- to privately peruse voting records, public testimonials, and (with many grains of salt) campaign promises.

I'm not naive. I know that political promises do not often result in elected candidates' actions.

BUT, I DO know that -- when a candidate, even in an arena where he/she is attempting to win favor, and riding the line -- but STILL comes across as offensive . . .

He were not hateful towards the Obama's. This was simply an attack of disagreement on the Obama's political views and how they hurt America. Their views create dependence instead of independence.

I found this to be an excellent story Ancil and congratulate you on having the courage to post it. If WE had said any of this we would have been labelled racist. But wait - we are anyway even though we know we are not.

Well said Carole. We must vote for who we think will best represent us. Even if it goes against people we really like.

You cannot currently send a star to Jae because you have done so within the last week.
You cannot currently send a star to Carol because you have done so within the last week.

Sometimes changes of views occur because it is less work going along with strong-willed others than gathering the facts to disagree respectfully and note that their views will harm oneself.

Funny how many people who noted this 'article' (hate garbage-NO facts-ALL red meat) joined Care2 in September...and they note every article submitted by the teabaggers.

I read some of the comments after this 'article'; sad how these people buy into the propaganda...they spew the same dog whistle lines (lies) over and over...
and they are filled with pure hate.

obama has divided this country more than any other president in our history. he wants class warfare. he keeps pushing for it. after we all go down then he can bring in his storm troopers and make us over into kenya and the middle east. obama wants the end of america.

Ancil, this is just an opinion piece, from Mychal Massie, a "respected writer and talk show host in L.A" -- well-written and reasoned, but still only one person's opinion. No references are cited or linked to.

Why should his opinion go viral?

Thanks for giving us more insight into the mentality of the Tea Bagers - just shows their hatefull approach to the issues. If you can stomach it, go to this sites home page and watch some of the other videos - and learn why these people have no place in a civil scociety much less having any political power. Truely disgusting!

Obama hasn't divided the country - the GOP did when they said they would stop at nothing to make Obama a one-term president. Just imagine what might have been accomplished if they'd been adults and tried to work WITH instead of against this man. And now, ALL the GOP have lost any credibility with me - like this article, it's all just blather, blather, blather....

I am surprised that you believe it so odd for people to be joining the Care 2 community Laura. Apparently even odder that they are conservative supporters. There are only two parties in America right now and in spite of what your party promotes Conservatives DO CARE about this planet as much as you do.

With a last name like "VEGAN" are you trying to say that we should beleive who you really are? I mean REALLY? Could question that I suppose but I won't. You are attacking people simply because they do not have the same political views that you do and THAT is what I find desperate and sad.

Care 2 is the most popular site for issues on the web right now. The fact that conservative stories are finally being promoted to the front page should be celebrated. Not condemned if America is truly about free speech and Care 2 supports that. There is a mixture of left and right articles making it to the Front page and that gives people food for thought from both ends of the spectrum.

I would hate for Care 2 to give the impression that it is another propaganda arm of the Obama media even though I do know most of your media in America is 'rooting' for the man. This is about choice and the way people make an informed and reasonable choice is to be allowed to be informed.

Don't make Ancil an enemy folks. He is a good man who has changed his mind about Obama. He is still the same person you all came to know and respected before this happened. He was my friend when he supported Obama and he is my friend now.

I feel really sorry for you tea baggers. How sad it is to be a racist which is what you are. Be an adult and admit that you just can't stand the fact that an intelligent black man is the President. You will feel better admitting the truth. Obama is not the divider of this country. No, it is the racists like you and Cantor and Ryan and Bonehead and list goes on and on. Pretty much every Repug in Congress has been dividing America by not doing what is best for ALL Americans, just those that give them extra money like the Kochs and Rowe and other special interests. I am tired of you tea baggers who want to take America back to the 15th century. How you women can accept the Repug platform is beyond me, obviously, you have no self-esteem to allow yourself to be treated like that by these rich, white males and their anti- everyone ideas. I don't know why you are on care2 because you don't care about America.

Diane O (194)

I don't for a nano second believe that the Tea Party Nation is a racist group of concerned Americans. They, from the beginning, gathered and formed due to the direction their country was headed....socialist, bigger government, and no semblance of fiscal responsibility. Republicans aren't racists. In fact, the race card is an old worn out piece of paper that holds no value in today's times. Everyone in our country is born a free person, free to make their own personal choices. We are all judged individually by the choices we make for ourselves. If one opts to drop out of high school and become a minimum wage earner, well, that has its consequences as it relates to being able to support a family. Where I live, there are the most affluent African Americans in our country. Why is that? As yourselves that question. We, as a country, have made it possible for all people to be able to make the important life changing choices in their lives....get a college degree? Minimum wage with no high school diploma? At the beginning of every day and at the end of every day we are judged by the choices we make for ourselves. We can't blame the Tea Party Nation for what others have decided for themselves. The Tea Party Nation formed as a group of very concerned Americans who say their country going down, what they considered to be, the wrong path for fiscal responsibility and fiscal longevity as the richest country in the world.

Don't blame The Tea Party. The Tea Party wants a strong America. It has nothing to do with racism.

Diane O (194)

Lots of typos in my post....accept my apologies. I hope my message was clear. The Tea Party Nation is uncomplicated IMO. They are concerned, very concerned, Americans, who want a strong and prosperious America. In every gathering group of concerned Americans, there are the extremists. We should've learned long ago to filter the extremists out of the equastion.. They just muddy the waters of the actual goal.

Unbelievably OUT OF TOUCH!

"We, as a country, have made it possible for all people to be able to make the important life changing choices in their lives....get a college degree? Minimum wage with no high school diploma? At the beginning of every day and at the end of every day we are judged by the choices we make for ourselves. We can't blame the Tea Party Nation for what others have decided for themselves."

Not ALL people have the choice of college; or have the family and friends to influence colleagues of position to mentor them and place them on the high track.

THAT is the "down your nose" flippant attitude that is all too prevalent from even those oppressed and controlled by right-wing conservatives . . . including brain-washed women, who blindly support that behavior.

Not hateful? In his own words from his "daily rant" he hates Obama and Michelle for what THEY are doing to MY country. First, this man needs a education, one could be enhanced by actually reading Karl Marx. Next, well frankly my dear, "I don't give a damn."
This man is nothing but another attention seeker. He is not a reporter, this is his personal opinion and holds no more weight than any other personal opinion.

As Maureen said, this piece is nothing more than an opinion piece, and in my opinion, not particularly well written. I would ask is what is this commentor's 'axe to grind'?

Another thing, I really wish people would stop using the terms 'socialist' and 'communist' until they know what the terms mean. Mr Obama is a 'middle of the road kinda guy' --- not a socialist, not a Marxist, not a communist. It's just that the Teapartiers are so far to the right that they are in danger of falling off the edge of the world (I say that as they would take everyone back so far as to be part of a 'flat earth society' in the 14th and 15th century. The fact that too many don't support science is yet another reason.

Great comments Jae, Carole, Janet R, Arielle, Chris O, Gysele, Maureen, Shelly, Laura V, Carrie, Nyack.

Get out the vote!!!!! Four more years!!!!!

Vote Democratic 2012!!!!! Vote Obama/Biden 2012!!!!!

I understand your dismay Ancil about the last 4 years, my daughter can't find employment as hard as she tries and I'm trying to support her and my granddaughter on my meager income. But I know many of the jobs bills that are in Congress the Republicans have stone walled. That isn't Obama's fault, but please don't throw your hat to the ring that will chop what meager income you have off. The Republican is not going to help you, it will help those who already are doing fine.

I'm not happy either with Obama but it is for his reasons of extending the Bush Tax Cuts, his military actions in too many places, he still hasn't really gone after Wall St., and I am really not happy that he continued the Patriot Act and in fact signed in the NDAA. I don't think either Party is the best Party this election, but I certainly know that the Republican Party will be the WORSE.

And both Parties are weak on environmental issues, we don't have time to waste with them, our lives depend upon having a planet and home to live on, and Rocky Anderson is a strong advocate on environmental policy, he has won awards both National and International.

So might I suggest you check into The Justice Party Ancil, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I will leave the hotlink below and take your time checking over the website, there is a lot of information on there and you still have time before the Nov. election. I have been working hard to get Rocky Anderson on the ballot here in Florida and he is, but guess what, many of you in Mississippi worked hard to get him on in your State too!

Check it out.....

On the ballot:
Colorado (Justice Party), Connecticut (Independent Party of Connecticut), Florida (Justice Party), Idaho (IND Independent Candidacy), Louisiana (Justice Party), Michigan (Natural Law Party), Minnesota (Justice Party), Mississippi (Justice Party), New Jersey (Justice Party), New Mexico (Independent Party), Oregon (Oregon Progressive Party), Rhode Island (Justice Party), Tennessee (Independent), Utah (Justice Party), Vermont (Justice Party), Washington (Justice Party).

Other States one can write in the Justice Party.....

To me, when one is so displeased with their own Party, you do not necessarily need to go to the opposite side. We do have more choices than that......but if people don't exercise that other choice we get stuck with the back and forth back and forth of the two Parties that many of us who have joined the Justice Party are tired of. We are not happy with the lessor of two evils, we'd like to perhaps have the better of two goods.

At least consider....I know it's been hard on you, it's hard on many of us still, we all had such great hopes. Maybe too high working with a Two Party system that both have been bought out by the Corporations, but going to the Republicans is not the answer in my opinion.

By the way, I think Mississippi was either the 2nd or the 3rd State to support Rocky, so I thank those in that State for rolling up your sleeves and working so hard.

Don't worry Ancil, I'm sure I'll get lambasted by both groups up here, gee everyone hates the 3rd Party supporter. But I'm tired of going with the Parties that BOTH led us up to this point, so I blaze a new path.

Ancil..I wish I could give you a thousand stars for this piece and for your honest opinions and sharing part of your life with us! This article is right on and it expresses many of the sentiments that a lot of Americans feel today with Obama and his policies!! it's really unfortunate that so many will bad mouth those with different views and even calling a black man racist!? WOW!! Just goes to show it's pretty much the same BS over and over again! Ah well...some people will never change even with a ton of information right in front of them!
