A very interesting poster has been created on the basis of this measurement. In addition, the design is really nice and has been rewarded on multiple occasions. Visit the site!

Glad I checked this out . . . I hadn't really considered a "water footprint" before.

Thanks, Julie for posting this -- and Thomas for letting me know.

There are corporations out there that are trying to control water rights. We must not allow that to happen, otherwise, water may become the next "oil" commodity and very expensive. Water is needed for all forms of life on this planet.

TY, Julie.

Wow! 4500 liters of water per one steak!

Pamela, that is the same reaction I had! That much water FOR ONE steak! I had heard that the animals that we eat use HUGE amounts of energy (to raise them in an un-humane way, at that), but that they also add HUGE amounts of greenhouse gases into our environment. More good reasons to not eat things with faces...
Thanks for sharing this Julie!

When I lived in the hi-desert of California with my 3 children, and husband, I became ultra-sensitive about water. We had to have our water hauled in and make our 500 gal. tank last about three months. We shared our bath water, used grey water to flush the toilet with and water our trees.

While I live in Canada now, I am still shocked about the amount of water people waste.
