Everywhere we find great poverty, a dense population, narrow lanes, a maze of electric wires all connected to each other, workshops for small manual jobs... but everywhere also the same steadfast will to return to their country, Palestine.

I don't know. I admire these people who hold out to return to their homes, but like what happened to the American Indian, sometimes one never gets to go back. Some of those Nations did but many were never able to. When the Ones that control the Power want something, they will take it no matter the cost. It is either move or be killed and it's something that happens or has happened too many times. Something in the human condition that doesn't allow us to live with each other and in peace. Very sad.

Thanks for sharing Dandelion. What you say is true.
People will fight for their freedoms and lands and continue to do so, come what may; even if they are dispossessed and weaker in strength, they will continue to seek to overcome tyranny and oppression in any way possible, and resist as long as they can to uphold their dignity, keep their way of life, preserve and defend their traditions and communities.
"War is costly. Peace is priceless."

I think it was Geronimo, who on his deathbed said, "I should never have surrendered. I should have fought until I was the last man."
General George Crooke was ruthless in his pursuit of Apaches, and played Apaches against each other. Instead of treating Indians as Sovereign tribes, as America had for more than a century, under President Grant, they instituted a new policy and they became "wards of the state" and were forced onto reservations.
I think I know a lot less about this than many. I do know they suffered in battles, were constantly on the move to evade being hunted down, starving, weak, and dying. Many wanted to stop running, just wanted peace. But they were tricked and betrayed.
This happened over and over. They did not have the weaponry. Europeans brought infectious diseases that spread quickly.
In South Africa, and other places, there is similar history.
In South Africa, despite the large population, military might, also prevailed. Native Africans were subjugated, enslaved, treated as second class citizens, as well as in the Americas, and elsewhere for centuries.
South African Apartheid took decades to end, the struggle was long, painful and dangerous.
The civil rights movement in the U.S. was as challenging and perilous. The struggle for human rights and freedom continues around the world.

"Let freedom ring." Martin Luther King.

End U.S. aid to Israel.
Enough is enough. End U.S. funding and subsidizing Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine, Israel's military, nuclear and military facilities and 67 years of illegal settlement building, demolitions and dispossession in East Jerusalem, the West Bank, Gaza and occupied Palestine.
