Human Rights Day - A day well worth to celebrate for some of us!
My thoughts goes to people living in North Korea, China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Syria, and quite a few other countries...
Countries where Human Rights violations take place every day. Countries where there are political prisoners (yesterday I heard that there are 150,000 - 200,000 poltical prisoners in North Korea)
Let us work for Human Rights For ALL - NO exceptions!

Thanks Ben, this is so important. I have already signed numerous petitions and signed up for 2 different "gatherings" in DFW area to stand up for HUMAN RIGHTS, an issue which has no borders, no limits and must be held as a right of birth by all humans. This world has lived through enough dictators, enough war, enough discrimination, let us all show that we believe first and foremost in the absolute right of a human beings to be free of the propaganda and rhetoric that keeps us in the chains of hatred.

Thank you Ben for posting. Every day I do what I can for human rights. Many times we need to remember that by looking around in our own backyards we can stand up for that. Respect and dignity can be afforded to those in our lives no matter where we may live. Remember to take human rights into account when voting, it isn't just about the rights of yourself, when you deny others medical care, food, affordable housing with your vote you are affecting the human rights of another.

Thank you Ben, I frequent the Amnesty site at least once a week to sign petitions. Human rights are so important and too many are being with held or denied....all over the world. Here is a link to an interesting video about human rights that i wish everyone would watch... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oh3BbLk5UIQ and thanks for all the other very important links as well.

Thank you, Ben for letting me know about this day. Compassion, kindness, integrity go a long way in helping others, and also, in remembering our less fortunate that don't have rights like I do.

Many, many thanks Ben for reminding us all that every human being deserves these rights no matter color, race, political positions, class, sexual preference, abilities, level of intelligence, man, woman or child. It does not matter who you are or how you live your life, we must all agree that it is our birthright to have fundamental human rights and we often get so caught up in the myriad issues of living that we forget these basic rights. And as Pat said, remembering others less fortunate who live in countries that do not recognize this fact, we must strive ever harder to fight for those who's voices are forcibly silenced. Thank you Sheryl and Kit as well for forwarding.

We had many people show for a "gathering" to support International Human Rights. I would guess at least 1,000 and maybe more. We also "gathered" in front of our Congressman's office, not he would care about any rights that can not be purchased.

As a proud AI member, along w/other like organizations, I thank you for posting this news Ben..and you're right that it's a fight that must be fought daily..

And if I may I would like to remind people that avaaz, while putting out top notch petitions, also needs your support in $$$ as they do an admirable job in getting computers, cameras and other tools into the hands of those that bring us many stories we might never hear where it not for them and their courageous contributers...many of who have given their lives in the pursuit of the truth... 1love

We should not forget tribes and indigenous peoples. The UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples was ddopted by General Assembly Resolution 61/295 on 13 September 2007. There are some less known organizations which work mostly with indigenous peoples. Some of them have environment term in the name, and they generally protect tribes and indigenous peoples from development (a.k.a. exploitation of their natural resources) imposed on their commons by some of the most brutal corporations and governments. Those peoples need our support, too.

Wow... Lots of lists and organizations to look and read.

Signed many petitions. Will continue with more later.

So many people are without basic human rights...

I saw a list of "rulers", despots, dictators and so on. The one which surprised me was in Italy run by the Mafia.

Ty, Ben.
