Backed by the US and the EU, Kosovo has declared 'independence' from Serbia, although its claim to 'sovereignty' is extremely dubious. But the independence of another nation, Tibet, continues to be denied by China. The US and EU are least interested. ..

Hi Ben!
Tibet will never be a free country! i hope that they will be able to live like the people in South Tyrol as part of Italy still as a part of China but with own culture....China is the new world leader together with INDIA! Be prepared for CHINDIA as new world leaders!

Easy question to answer - Serbia is a small country, which can be bombed into submission without much risk and of such economic insignificance that it can be boycotted at negligible cost - China is major power with nuclear weapons, so they could fight back harming any attacker very badly and of such economic importance that a boycott would be prohibitively expensive.

In international politics might is right (not my wish, but an observation)

Very good point! Those who have lived in former Yugoslavia are still scratching their heads about why exactly Kosovo had been given independence.
Meanwhile Tibetan struggle just keeps being swept aside. Now that people have finally started shouting about it, I struggle to understand those who still reject the need to press on with this issue...
