FAW is working hard to ensure the US Government lists African lions on the Endangered Species Act (ESA). We need the help of every American animal lover to protect African lions from American hunters.

Just a note, it's IIFAW. International Fund for Animal Welfare. This effort is not being made to Keep lions on the Endangered Species List, it's to get them on it. This list is part of the ESA, Endangered Species Act, and will list them as endangered as considered by the USA. This is an important step in getting the rest of the world to take action to have listed worldwide (IUCN and CITES). This is an issue that NWHS feels very strongly about.

There is simply no reason to wait until their numbers fall down to the level of wild tigers, when actions then become a "last ditch effort". It will curtail big game hunting (by Americans) of lions in Africa, because they won't be allowed to bring trophy parts back home to the USA. It will also halt serving lion meat in game food restaurants and meat markets. Being endangered in the USA also closes the loophole where illegally poached lions use the legal conduit to import parts into the USA (with altered or forged paperwork).

Because lions have not been considered endangered, there have been cases where endangered tigers and leopards have been slaughtered in the USA, and paperwork altered to make them lions, so their meat can be "made legal". If lions are endangered, this loophole will be closed as well.

Please just don't "Note", sign this important petition, because it will indeed get into the proper hands, via IFAW.

i love my big cats and every animal in the world... I hope we can bring all big cats back from extinction, its ridiculous how cruel humans are... we are taking tehri land, they have no territory or food or water.. it not fair... I really hope they go on t the endanegerd list and make a great comeback., Lion is the king of the jungle... Let them be... I love all cats, hopefully we can help save all of them xxx signed..

there are some who want Panthra Leo to be wild in the American wild. Panthera leo atrox went extinct 11,000 years ago (stooooopid hyumoons)
thus it is only correct to bring them back. so they can eat the wild horses, like their ancestors did

good thing Equus lambei and Equus occidentalis is being replaced with Equus ferus caballus and such
