The two male African penguins formed a close bond since coming to the Toronto Zoo about a year ago, sharing a nest and even displaying signs of mating rituals. Their relationship made headlines and fueled jokes about "Brokeback Iceberg."

Noted. Lol...Got to laugh at some of the comments here. Yes, Virginia, homosexuality does exist in the animal kingdom, and If the boys did eventually find female mates, well then, that makes them bisexual!

This is good news because they're part of a species conservation program.

People want to 'see' gay animals where they are just animals who are not in natural settings where they display unnatural behavior. That doesn't mean being gay is 'bad' or 'immoral' or whatever it just means (Like many things) that behavior only truly happens in Humans. Why Gay people want to claim homosexuality happens in animals is beyond me....cannibalism happens in animals...infanticide happens in animals. Many animals eat their own poop or throw it at others. Just because an animal does something does not make it 'good' or 'ok' Sure it makes it 'natural' FOR ANIMALS..that doesn't mean it is natural for humans. Similarly 'odd' behavior in humans is not natural for animals.

I like this the best: "Glad they are propagating their species! But still sad that they were forced apart by the circumstances..." ESPECIALLY since the pair showed definite signs of affection. It's not like the guys would have sex.... if you all are that dumb, well no wonder you don't understand homosexuality! The little guys need to get back to each other when they are done being FORCED to reproduce... which is GOOD. But leave then be after to their affections. THEY MATE FOR LIFE.

Anyone here even know or RECOGNIZE that the TWO MALE PENGUINS sat and raised an EGG together? This is TRUE companionship. IN THE BEAST WORLD IT DOES EXIST OF HOMOSEXUALITY... just like it does with human beings... same type of structure in our brains... same emotions- love, lust, like, sad, solemn, angry, happy, frustrated.... etc.

GET WITH THE 21st century and year 2012!

Brilliant as far as I can tell, test the waters before jumping in, and, test again if you change your mind~at least animals are accepting of one another, no matter whom falls in love whom! Humans can take a long, hard look and learn a thing or two...our brains are bigger however our minds have shrunk!

Dear Ginger Strivelli,

Here are the facts, perhaps you wish to ignore science...why is beyond me but for the record;

20% of ALL animals and bird sexual relations are homosexual

1,500 Animal species display homosexual behavior

If you wish to join reality, I welcome you, if not, keep your ignorant beliefs to yourself least you contribute to a rather unsavory habits known as "stereotyping" and "make believe"...and, by the way, how can you possibly have the guts to speak about that which you know nothing boggles the mind.

maybe they were never gay but bisexual, regardless it doesnt matter, it just cute

no way are 20% of all animals and birds homosexual, more false propoganda to promote gayness.

It is not the predominant force in NATURE, the species would cease to exist with high number of homosexuals. Get real ... I am tired of all the hyped up malarkey.

To those who believe this, join reality .... pls. do your research, I have.

Nature would not sustain a high percentage of species that did not reproduce. Survival of the species and adaptability are the forces of nature.
