The reason I shared this because this is inexcusable. Spielburg make the film "War Horse" with about 8 different horses. Not one of them die or get injured. He said, his main priority was the horses needs. If a horse did not feel like cooperating one day, he was say stop and continue with a non-horse scene. He would never force the animals to work, only on the days they were up for it. To make them look dirty, they gave the horses mud massages, which they loved. So tell me....how in the world to 3 horses die in the making of this show? Was there no person there watching out for the horses? There should always be someone there specifically to see if they are mistreating animals on set.... I think it is inexcusable and someone has some major explaining to do.

HBO's 'Luck' No Moment of Silence For Dead Horse

The cast and crew of HBO's "Luck" didn't miss a beat after a horse died on location today -- they just kept on shooting.

Eyewitnesses tell us ... the horse suffered a fatal injury after rearing up, falling backwards and hitting its head on the ground, breaking its neck. It was then euthanized.

We're told the crew was told to drive themselves from Santa Anita -- where the accident occurred -- to Marina del Rey to continue shooting the show.

As we reported, this is the third horse death on the series. After one of the other horse deaths, HBO stopped production, but apparently horse death has become somewhat routine on "Luck."

HBO was scrambling today after we called with information about the death, trying to delay publication of the story.

They do not mistreat stars, but what is the difference with animals? We are all the same and we should look after each other. People think that we are higher above animals, here is the truth we are all the same.

i THOUGHT THIS WAS OFFICIAL, HEARD THE NEWS THAT HBO CANCELLED THIS SERIES!...Shame on Michael Mann and Dustin Hoffman for being in this anyway. What a disgrace that a Pay per Station promoted this! They are sooooo far off my RADAR!

I heard about this on the Today show this morn., they have since shut down production & PETA had also got involved, but so far no charges have been filed. It is bad enough that one horse would have died, but three??? C'mon!!!

Horses die for this and all kinds of reasons, including TV shows. Awful. Are the animals expendable?
Collateral damage? Raise public awareness! Legislate the rules for animals used by the
entertainment industry.

I never watched that show because I knew it wouldn't show horse racing for what it really is...animal abuse. But, this is worse than even I thought. Everyone working on this show, including the big name actors, is responsible for those animals deaths. Someone should be prosecuted. There are laws in this country protecting animals. HBO needs to find out what happened to those horses and get the information to the proper authorities.

this is so shameful and heart-breaking. the show MUST NOT go on. they must cancel this series for the sake of the animals. i know they don't care about the horses, but there will be an abundance of protesting which will force them to cancel.

There was almost nothing said about that stupid cruel show and almost no action available against it on this website and yet a lot of fuss was made about a commercial and a movie in which no animals were killed and tortured! As for that show I of course never watched it, I sometimes would see a commercial of it before The Real Time would start and that alone would piss me off!

The should not just suspend it AFTER investigation - they should have never allowed it in the first place. And if they were moral enough they would have stopped themselves, not stopping after someone investigated that...
