Confirmed as true at this sight, Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning public not to eat, distribute or sell Sherwood Pirate's Gold chocolate coins from China,tainted with melamine killing babies in Chinna and sickening thousands of others.

Good question.

Melamine is a cheap toxic chemical that mimicks protien when added to products like petfood (that had the glutien, brown rice) added on purpose and imported unknown length of time.

Cannot imagine a scientific principal behind adding it to candy unless it has glutien.
