That's right, Pat, I just hope others will follow your lead! I decided to put it here on the news instead of circulating a message, hm, hardly anyone noting it though. Thx for passing it on!

Its time they all CAME HOME...I just read the book "365" which depicts real short stories from those who served in NAM and I am outraged that ANY politician dare send any one into war if they havent served themselves. BRING THEM HOME NOW, ALL OF THEM.

Noted and signed. It should be mandatory for anyone on any level be it local, town, county, state, or nationsl to have served in the military to run for office. If you didn't serve in the Military you do not deserve to serve the people. We don't want you. BLESS OUR MILITARY!!!

Seems rather pointless to me. The Pope doesn't have the pull he once did. Not to mention that a "Christmas Ceasefire" would be more likely to infuriate the enemy in Afghanistan since they are all Muslims.

Dandelion G. (384)
Saturday December 15, 2012, 10:39 am
Hey people are people Roger, maybe they'd like a day without violence too and maybe they could issue a day by their beliefs to stop fighting on. As I've said before, I'd rather have the troops home, but any day someone might not have to die is a good day, I'll take peace however it could be achieved.

Lloyd H. (46)
Saturday December 15, 2012, 12:52 pm
Pardon the intentional rudeness, but are any of you other than Roger able to walk and breath at the same time. The only people in Afghanistan that believe in Christmas are the FOREIGN TROOPS, the Afghans are Muslim, the Taliban are Muslim extremists. And pardon me but HELL WILL FREEZE OVER BEFORE I WILL ASK THAT PEDOPHILE PROTECTING FESTERING BOIL IN THE VATICAN WHO JUST PUBLICLY BLESSED THE HOMICIDAL BITCH REBECCA KADAGA. KADAGA IS THE SPEAKER OF THE UGANDA PARLIAMENT WHO HAS PROMISED TO PASS THE "KILL THE GAYS BILL", AND IT IS STILL THE "KILL THE GAYS BILL" AS A CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR THE F'ASS CHRISTIANS IN UGANDA.
Youimbeciless expect me to ask His MostUn Holinesss for a cease fire while he is blessing thelegalizeddmurderr of Gays for being Gay. I have one answer GO TO HELL!!!!

I can only speak for myself, I'm not protecting any religion by signing this petition, I'm beseeching anyone of any faith or non faith, if they can get a day without fighting and shooting each other, that is one more day someone, in my way of loooking at it, may live.

You go talk to any Mother, brother, or wife who has a soldier in Afghanistan I bet they would like a day of peace while their loved one is over there no matter who was able to broker it.

we need to do it during Muslim holy days too, so it shows we are willing to cross the lines and shake hands. If all SPIRITUAL people came together, maybe the ones with rigid dogma may also join. Heck, they breathe the same air as we do reguardless of whatever their concept of "hereafter" is.

Kind of meaningless since these barbarians /terrorists in Afghanistan do not acknowledge Christmas let alone care what any Pope has to say.

Saturday December 15, 2012, 5:54 pm
That's KIND of my point, Michael M., although not nearly as narrow minded, bigoted and racist as you. You Christians have never had a problem killing in the name of YPUR God.
Going to religious leaders of non-Christians and saying "hey, stop shooting us on OUR holy day" sounds like a new definition of hubris.

I pray that this happens and thank you for posting this for me to sign....THIS IS SO IMPORTANT with what is going on in our WORLD TODAY...I have only wet eyes. Angelika...You know me and I rarely Get involved with" your" news/Politics unless it is with animals, but during The Lord's Birth I do believe that PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD need some compassion and be aware of all of our differences....be kind, cease FIRE PERIOD ALL OVER!

Ya Think our President of the USA CARES AND WILL PLEA WITH PEOPLE???? UMMM THAT IS MY ????

Isn't it rather racist to call Afghanis barbarians/terrorists, when we (USA + NATO) aggressed against them, invaded their land, are killing their people, are killing young shepherd boys and claiming they're terrorists defies logic.
You say they don't care about Christmas? Don't punish them for adhering to a different religion. Have a happy holiday, and may peace reign on earth.

I have signed this petition
It would take a miracle this time to put a halt to this war.
This is not 1914, where men thought with their hearts
and became human beings instead of soldiers.
They came together in unity to celebrate Christmas and
rejoiced in the knowledge that no one was going to die that day.

Well, by signing this you demonstrated that you, too believe that miracles can happen.
I prefer to think that in 2012 men can still "think with their hearts" and be human beings and I see not a thing wrong with the world calling for this. It should not be on Chrismas only but throughout the year.

Count me among those who have no "special regard" for the pope. I don't care if the reason is Xmas, Valentine's Day, Halloween, Winter Solstice, Ramadan, Chanukkah, Kwanza....If it helps end the war, I'd sign it. A ceasefire is a start.

On Christmas Day, the American patriots attacked and killed the Hessians who were observing Christmas and theoretically we won the war.
Now, years later we are asking the same of others. Did we learn anything? If we want peace then we must also observe a truce on Muslim holy days...by example that we are willing to treat them as we would want to be treated...hmmm I think I have read that somewhere........some guy said it 2,000 years ago.

Lets see now....wasn't it O'bama that said last year that our troops would be home by the end of Christmas 2011 and Jan. 2012????? I'd say, screw Afganistan , let them work their own problems out and bring our troops home NOW. We ain't got no business going into other people's Countries trying to fight their battles for them. Let them fight their own damn battles and get their own Government in check so we can focus on our Government and what OUR Country needs. You think any of these Countries that we have helped would come and help Our Country if we asked for help???? I'm tired of these Countries asking US for Our help and then killing us when we get their. We are the only Country in the world that blows them up just so we can build them up all over again and then continue to send Billions to their Country. I am just sick of it.

I agree with you Darlene but then again if that was the case Obama wouldn't be Our President. I particularly think that a President should have first hand Military experience.

@Kate B. = Your comment, "Isn't it rather racist to call Afghanis barbarians/terrorists, when we (USA + NATO) aggressed against them, invaded their land, are killing their people, are killing young shepherd boys and claiming they're terrorists defies logic. "

It is true that the USA has not been blameless by any means and perhaps the shepherd boys are not terrorists but I guatentee you those shepherd boys carry explosives that kill you just as easily and what is sad is that their parents call it a "HONOR" to send there children out into the field or to the streets carrying explosives because they know that the vast majority of the USA Military Soldiers are not going to purposely try to harm a child but rather to get it out of the way of harm so in the process of trying to PROTECT the shepherd boy.....they both end up dead. Call it what you want to call it - dead is dead!

Personally, I'd like to see everyday without violence but as long as there is hate, as long as there is greed, as long as there is indifference, intolerance and ignorance, as long as there is lack of empathy, compassion, acceptance and love.......there will always be war. WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG? Don't we all, no matter what Country you live in just want peace?
