Thank you for signing! This is such a shameful mark on our Country, so barbaric and too many innocents are taken away in a faulty justice system. Once the life is gone, they can never be brought back when things are later found out that innocense was indeed truth.

Thank you for signing! - and tweeted

There's a touch of irony in a Texan signing a petition against the death penalty.

I can think of plenty of creeps who thoroughly deserve the death penalty. I only wish it would happen faster and be cheaper.

NOBODY deserves the death penalty.

Unfortunately out of stars for kunsioux and Kit :-(
Kit- I would prefer calling it good sense, despite the slight touch of irony-you evidently and FORTUNATELY do not represent the right wing majority of TX !

Baffles us as a supposedly civilised country has this barbaric practice. Vengeance is mine says the Lord, no? Whatever the crime state murder reduces people to the level of the horrendous character who originally committed the crime.

Even in movies, 'The Green Mile', for example, executions are horrific to watch.

We do not have it in UK but even with technology being as incredible as it is mistakes can still be made and I guess we can not take that chance. Crimes are getting much worse in UK
I could not sleep after watching The Green Mile was quite upset when I heard recently that he had died also Dead Man Walking (Sean Penn)

And if the man who shot up Sandy Hook was still alive would you say "no hes a precious human who needs help and deserves life". Some people are too evil to be saved and they deserve nothing more then a bullet in the back of the head. Sadly because of human rights the legal system is dragged out for years and they need to be given a humane death. So instead of clearing space for the criminals who can be saved the ones who are locked up for life after doing unspeakable things just stack up costing billions to keep them in better conditions then most of the taxpayers.

Kara -feel free to choose not to sign. This is more about those who are INNOCENT and should not be killed in error but sadly that happens all too often! (Apart from it being wrong to kill period, by the govt. or anyone else)

I am concerned because our justice system is rife with corruption and too many innocent are wrongly accused and convicted. But if I were to catch a pedophile in the act...I would take him out myself.

I understand where you are coming from Lydia its a dilemma
Do we risk even one innocent person so that we can legally humanely kill perhaps hundreds of pedophiles
We recently had one of our National Treasures Jimney Saville who recently died in his 80s big funeral the nation crying WHOOPS we now find out he sexually assaulted 400 teenagers in care homes and hospitals ruined some of their lives no one spoke out because they felt no one would believe them some had mental health problems Thank God hes dead but I have to hesitate over an evil person like that as much as it is against my beliefs so I do understand your comment Some of the disgusting acts on animals also bring out a lot of anger for me green star on the way to you Lydia

You cannot currently send a star to marie because you have done so within the last week.
Yes, Marie, the Saville case went around the world. I wasn't sure just how to respond to Lydia, now you did it in a great way, thank you!

:-) thanks so much Cheriann-but you did not have to choose any state at all, just a zipcode with 5 digits ;)
For the future: select "none" (at bottom) for state and give your own zip, if it fails, try another number. Many NON US citizens here at Care2 do this.
