Defund the F-35 Now - ACTION

US Politics & Gov't  (tags: Pentagon, Congress, Fiasco 35, F-35 fighter jet, disaster, weapon system, sequester, spending cuts, defunding )

- 1905 days ago -
The F-35 program has been plagued by cost overruns and delays, has been grounded twice, does little to address 21st century threats and is still nowhere near completion. Tell Congress: stop funding the F-35 fighter jet program, the "Fiasco 35" now.

This is definitely one of the biggest financial mistakes the Pentagon has made. It is an obsolete money pit and it should by all rights be shut down.

Angie, my darlin' friend, YOU are more aware of the problems plaguing the US than, sadly, are many Americans!

(Let me know if you need a sponsor when you apply for citizenship.)

Luv you so.

But honestly, you are correct there, Carole hon, ..I am often stunned, shocked at the immense indifference of too many, even here on care2 ! Let's face it-there are hardly more than about a dozen or so who are politically interested and informed- and you wonder WHY the country is in the condition it is in ..?!

Even the Pentagon does not want this hunk of junk. This is an example of "ear marks" a pork barrel project that is used by members of the House to say, "See what I did for you!" Yes, each of these projects do supply some jobs. Could we not also supply jobs by rebuilding our infrastructure, our grid system, conversion to GREEN renewable resources for energy? We could learn to think beyond the new design for weapons. We need jobs, we have a severe need to put people to work right here in America, doing exactly what the JOBS program proposes. We need mass transit, not just in our cities, but we need to update our trains to faster, cleaner and more modern modes of transport.

Exactly, Kit! when your TRAINS ARE AS FAST AS YOUR JETS you can call it progress!
Why don't they endorse conversion within the framework of disarmorment! ?

Our dearly beloved Congress doesn't think the people of the United States of Idioacracy would use trains. If we had them and they covered long distances faster, cleaner and cheaper, people would use them. I love riding the train, and do so often even with the old clunkers we have.

This is what happens when there is virtually no competition. Gates killed the F22 which is superior. and now we have this aircraft which is not ready and won't be for years. Meanwhile the old airframes are wearing out.
The US military wanted to jump a generation and got this monstrosity. Yes, by 2020 this plane maybe combat worthy. Stealth is far overrated.

But actually the chance of cutting this program is null. The odds are it will continue. There is just too much money and the fact there was no other choice to follow on. Too many of our allies have bid for this plane for their own air forces.

thanks....I'm for defunding the offensive military and using the money to create positive changes and benefits for the future.......

Wouldn't it be great some day to have a US President who would celebrate an Easter or Christmas holiday by announcing how we will actually follow the words of Jesus, learn to turn the other cheek, live in hope and not fear, feed the hungry, house the homeless, heal the sick, and LOVE not just each other, but all others including our enemies as he did.....................since the pols always like to "out christian" each other this is their chance.

So well said Dave. Although there should and must be a clear separation of church and state (and a prez needs not be of Christian faith I think) ,if he would walk his talk it would indeed be awesome and bring healing to this sick world.

The US has its F-35 fiasco, and so does Canada. Canada has apparently signed up to purchase some F-35s which are over priced and useless. I think of the amount of people that could be fed and housed with all the money spent on instruments of destruction. What is the Hebrew Scripture verse . . . beating swords into ploughshares? Much more practical!

Makes you wonder if the Chinese are just stealing secreats but rather sabotaging the program, inserting engineering flaws into the plane in the same way we inserted flaws in Irans centrifuge development via StuxNet?

The American people are looking for a health plan, jobs and to pay less taxes ( which you were promised )
They are only pipe dreams, in fact more taxes to pay for a fighter - jet which you don't need, but in time when
it is finised, way over budjet ,now,, What Country will we pick on to try the F-35 s out .

Pilots are totally against the F-35, and even the Pentagon didn't want to go to bat for it....esp. after that 60 Minutes piece several months ago. Follow the money.
