While attempting to pitch immigration reform to conservative constituents in his home state of Wisconsin, Republican Rep. Paul Ryan astonishingly referred to the US-born children of undocumented immigrants using an ugly slur -- "anchor babies."

Rep. Ryan offered no apology, and even suggested amending the Constitution so that these children are denied naturalization at birth.
As a former vice-presidential nominee and key player in the GOP's future, Rep. Ryan knows better than to resort to language that only serves to rile up the fringe, anti-immigrant segment of his party.

If he wants to attract Republican voters to truly bipartisan reform efforts, this isn't the way to do it. Demand Rep. Ryan apologize for his offensive words today.

Thanks for signing! Nothing this insensitive fool says surprises me anymore. That these jerks keep getting re-elected has me more concerned. There are always going to be insensitive fools, but do the American people need to support them and encourage them?

Isn't there a petition that ask Ryan to apologize for being offensive - period? He should resign and get a part in some vampire movie - preferably one where he gets a stake thru the heart. Signed.

@ Arielle --- That presumes he has a heart!

Personally, I think he lacks all heart, compassion and integrity. He is soulless! He is not capable of representing his constituents, let along being POTUS or Vice POTUS.

Paul Ryan IS an offensive slur. He'd need an extension ladder to reach the level of pond scum. Why does anyone take this twit seriously? If he ever had a worthwhile idea his brain would break.

The more he talks the more people vote Democratic.

On a related topic, here are some Amendments attached to the immigration bill by Republicans:

Require individuals applying for provisional legal status to regular income or resources” above 400 percent of the poverty line (more than $92,000for a family of four). Jeff Sessions (R,AL)

Allow undocumented immigrants to be hired, but only as domestic workers, specifically including cooks, waiters, butlers, governessess, maids, valets, gardeners, footmen, grooms, and chauffeurs. (They're going to have to work a lot of hours to make $92,000). Mike Lee (R,UT).

Undocumented immigrants can never become citizens. Ted Cruz (R,TX).

Mandatory DNA testing. Orrin Hatch (R,UT)

In-person interviews for 11 million immigrants. Jeff Sessions (R,AL)

Enforces head-of-household deportation and causes family separations. Chuck Grassley (R,IA)

@ Wayne W --- I wonder what would have happened had the First Nations imposed those rules when Europeans first started showing up on American shores?

An interesting thought!

This is all a clever appeal to Rep. Ryan's own (shrinking) fan base, to portray him as a lone voice against the evil masses, the 99.999 percent of the population that will never vote for him again. This will ensure he gains at least a few "sympathy" votes.

Sarcasm intended, but there's truth in there as well.

Thank you Angelika......and Thank you Wayne W.....for putting the cherry on the top. A sad commentary on the lawmakers of our country......Paul Ryan has never added a good idea. He is getting worse.....rude and totally callus. It appears that his disdain for "man" encompasses practically everyone.....but his party co-horts...and we all know what they stand for !!!!!!!

they are anchor babies, they sneak across the boarder to have them just so they can get a foot in the door.
once they have that kid they get all kinds of benefits. they are lined up at the local social security offices so they can get that card to move on to the other departments like welfare and food stamps. then they use that card to buy cars so they can drive with no license and no insurance. every baby they can pop out gets them more benefits.

NO. DO NOT APOLOGIZE! This whole PC BS is getting on my nerves. Call them what they are. They 'anchor' their illegal family members here. It is not a derogatory term it is the truth. If the media needs to find something to rally over they should find the term 'fetus' and 'blob of cells' offensive. Unborn babies are neither!
Need something else to be offended about? I am an immigrant who learned English. So I am bilingual. But I have to learn Spanish to get a job in this darn town. I find that offensive. I learned English and now I'm supposed to learn Spanish because they can't assimilate into this society they choose to live in? THAT'S OFFENSIVE!
