The Coming Attempt to Impeach Obama

The idea of impeaching Obama is industrial-strength insane. Republicans will probably try anyway, predicts Michael Tomasky. Never put the most extreme behavior past them. It is who they are, and it is what they do.

When the histories of this administration are written, I hope fervently that last Friday, May 10, does not figure prominently in them. But I fear that it might: the double-barrel revelations that the White House hasn’t quite been telling the whole story on Benghazi and that some mid-level IRS people targeted some Tea Party groups for scrutiny are guaranteed to ramp up the crazy. But to what extent? I fear it could be considerable, and the people in the White House damn well better fear the same, or we’re going to be contemplating an extremely ugly situation come 2015, especially if the Republicans have held the House and captured the Senate in the by-elections.

Let me clarify a point that’s been going around. On MSNBC Friday, I broached the I-word. You know the one. Three syllables. Links Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton. I said something like: I have little doubt the Republicans would try to pursue it—something I’ve written dozens of times without readers really batting an eye. But I guess saying it on TV, and on a fateful day, is different. I was on the business end of a small number of angry tweets from liberal readers, and I see that the UK Daily Mail trotted out my statement in a way that made it sound as if I thought it was legitimate.

I didn’t get to finish my thought on television for one reason or another, but here on my home field, as it were, permit me to finish it: I think the notion of impeachment is industrial-strength insane. There is utterly no proof that the President Obama even knew anything directly about the shifting Benghazi responses, let alone did something about them (yes, folks; under the Constitution, the President must do something). And as for the Internal Revenue Service story, from what we now know, those transgressions were committed by IRS staffers in Cincinnati who have never been closer to Obama than their television sets. I always held a squishy spot in my breast for the Daily Mail because of the “Paperback Writer” mention, but as of this weekend they can go stick it up their punter, or whatever it is they say. Impeachment is crazy, the Daily Mail is crazy, and the idea that Obama has any direct culpability in either of these matters is, given what we know today, utter madness. Okay?

But this is my point: utter madness is what today’s Republicans do. You can present to me every logical argument you desire. Benghazi at the end of the day was a terrible tragedy in which mistakes, bad mistakes, were certainly made, and in which confusion and the CYA reflex led to some bad information going out to the public initially, but none of this remotely rises to the level of high crime. The IRS cock-up was just that, a mistake by a regional office. I get all this, and I agree with you.

But what we think doesn’t matter. I can assure you that already in the Pavlovian swamps of the nutso right, the glands are swelling. Theirs is a different planet from the one you and I inhabit. Most Republican members of the House live in districts where it is a given (among the white constituents, anyway) that Obama is a socialist; that’s he bent on bringing the United States of America down, or at least that he definitely doesn’t love the country and the Constitution (nudge nudge) the way they do; that he’s not a legitimate occupant of the Oval Office to start with. At the time he was sworn in to his second term, 64 percent of Republicans agreed that Obama was “hiding important information” about his background. Half thought in December 2012 that he stole the election.

At this point some of you may be protesting: but at least Clinton did commit a crime, however lame a crime it was. Obama has done no such thing. Again, in reality-land, no, he hasn’t. In their land, however, he has committed a string of them; he just hasn’t been caught yet. And that’s what Darrell Issa and his committee are there to unearth. Besides, he need commit no conventional crime. A high crime or misdemeanor is whatever the House majority decides it is. Remember, in January 1998, impeachment talk started before Clinton had perjured himself.

There is no end to it. And there is no end to Republican figures—and to a distressing extent, the mainstream media—feeding the crazy. When Lindsey Graham calls Benghazi “Obama’s Watergate,” he knows exactly what he’s saying, and so do Republicans in South Carolina, and across the country. And observe over the next few days—it’s already happening—how quickly journalistic shorthand, certainly in the right-wing media, converts the Cincinnati IRS office into “Obama’s IRS,” as if he were sitting around like Nixon personally targeting these groups. You and I know that’s absurd. But on the right, it’s a given that he was doing exactly that.

Okay, but surely, you say, if facts don’t matter, then public opinion does? Think again, my friend. In 1998, support for impeachment of Bill Clinton was rarely above 30 percent. Here’s a little sampling of surveys from August and September of that year, during the heat of battle—the release of Clinton’s grand-jury testimony and of the Starr Report. Levels of support for impeachment were 26 percent, 25, 18, 27, 17, and so on. There was one poll where it hit 40 percent, but most were far lower. And remember, in political terms, 40 is the butt end of a massive landslide. The public hated the idea.

Did that stop anyone? No. And it won’t stop them now. They do their base’s bidding, not America’s. How many times do you need to see them do this before you accept that it is the reality? And now there’s an added element. They want to gin up turnout among their base for next year’s elections. And if they gin it up enough, and the Democratic base stays home, they could end up holding the House and taking the Senate. And if they have both houses, meaning that the vote in the House would not be certain to hit a Senate dead-end, well, look out.

I hope the White House knows this. I hope they understand, I hope the President himself understands, that the fever has not broken and will not break. It might crescendo right up to his very last day in office. And yes, a lot of this Benghazi stuff is about Hillary Clinton. But not all of it. And the IRS thing, which Drudge led with for two days in a row and may yet be bigger than Benghazi, isn’t about her at all. If my worst fears are never realized—well, good, obviously. But it will only be because they couldn’t identify even a flimsy pretext on which to proceed. Never put the most extreme behavior past them. It is who they are, and it is what they do.

It's unfortunate that the GOP witch hunters are wiling to waste taxpayer dollars on this, as opposed to getting Americans back to work, and building infrastructure. Never let the GOP tell ya, they aren't about wasting US taxpayers $$$. All political theater for political gain. I think most Americans see through this crap, especially while they're suffering unnecessarily by te GOP's extreme lack of concern over their constituents well-being and making America a better place in bipartisan fashion.

This childish political ploy reaffirms that the GOP is unworthy to serve and have completely lost their way as well as being completely out of touch with reality.

They were trying that his first term- with the "fake birth certificate thing". If there isn't a real reason, they make one up! Even if he is impeached- we get Joe Biden, and they wont be happy with that either.

The GOP needs to face facts- the American people no longer want Republicans after George W. Bush and his Muslim Genocide. And no one will, as long as they keep calling it "Patriotism". No one, except maybe Sarah Palin and her cult.

Half the people that voted for Obama aren't even Democrats- they just have had ENOUGH of Republicans. Obama gone- or not- I would vote for Mickey Mouse before I would ever vote for another Republican.

> The idea of impeaching Obama is industrial-strength insane
the idea of letting him (just as the preceding ones) holding his position-of-power and continue with their crimes seems a lot more insane to me

And if Benghazi is sooooo very important- then WHY is not this???????????? Do they think if they say Benghazi long enough, and enough times, this is going to disappear?

Unfortunately- I don't think a 3rd party is going to happen for at least 10 years (if we survive WW3)

As it is- there are 2 choices- Peanut Butter... or Jelly.

People must show up at the polls, of course, voting is not only a right but a duty. But I've often wondered how many might just mark "none of the above",- that IS a choice as well. Problem with this is that "the wrong" will get these votes as a bonus. Third party will happen as soon as the American people, and that's a majority!-want it.

I'm fine with Biden being President :-)...anyone...anyTHING other than a Repbulicanis fine with me. As Nyack said, after George Bush and Dick Cheney the people..on all sides can't conceive the thought of another anytime soon if ever. Especially if they keep pandering to the extremist nutcases and running the same types against the Dems. that they have in the last two Fed. elections. Those people [candidates] scared even moderate Republicans,

Anyway, the Repubs are doing what they do best...waste tax payers money and then blame others while still doing nothing positive for the nation.....

"They do their base’s bidding, not America’s."
And the main reason for this strategy may be as the excuse for not doing their job (creating jobs, protecting public health, passing a viable budget, etc.) and where their time goes instead of what their oaths of office require.

Jae A. (321)
Monday May 13, 2013, 2:32 pm
Yes J.L.A.. It is a serioius kind of shame that the insanitea rightwing prefers spending both the time and the money on trying to oust Obama instead of trying to help the nation recover from the Dubya / Cheney years isn't it. It's all they've done since day one of Obama's presidency so I guess we can't expect anything different from the obstructionist ..........

Angelika R. (144)
Monday May 13, 2013, 3:24 pm
Jae-as said in the article, you can expect it to continue-perhaps get even worse-until Obama's last day in office.

As for Nyack's sad prognosis there - our Green party started out as a peace, environmental & women movement, founded the Green party in 1980, at first attempt failed to get into government at federal elections the same year, but were successful in 1983 when they passed the 5% threshold (5,6%) to get into parliament (Bundestag). Next election in 1987 they already got 8,3% and from the 90s on they wrote history.
But unlike you guys, we of course have party pluralism. Your charade 2-party system is your neck breaker.

Angelika- please don't talk to us like we are complete morons. We have better "taste". I watched the Occupy Wall Street movement start, only to have the NYC police attempt to dismantle and the media discredit it as a bunch of hippies. As far as "trying to start it"- we did that- 2 years ago. The Green Party? Got Jill Stein arrested.

So, for heaven's sake- please dont talk to us like we are stupid and without proper taste.

Nyack Clancy (453)

The very simple REALITY is, is you don't support Democrats- it is a victory for Republicans.

There is no 3 option.

Angelika R. (144)
Tuesday May 14, 2013, 3:56 am
Nyack- if you felt addressed as "a moron" I am sorry and certainly not aware it sounded anything like that.
Jill Stein was jailed for not quite a day-she's been out and there is no reason not to vote for her. Once started, a goal should not be given up and voting doesn't get you arrested, but strenghtens the 3rd parties. If Americans are not united in standing up against all the wrong the alternative candidates will never make it into the debates.
I'm not going to argue with you about taste, but do wonder why the House is owned the way it is...

Janet R. (34)
Tuesday May 14, 2013, 4:10 am
I wanted so much to vote for Jill Stein and the Green Party in 2012 but does anyone really think if she was elected, she would have had an easier time with Congress? No way, the Repugs only want a Repugs President and will work with no other. That's reality. A vote for the Green Party is a vote for the Repugs so that is why I couldn't do it. II think the behavior of Congress is pathetic and they should all be fired. They are taking a paycheck and not doing their jobs. If we do that, we get fired. How can you fire all of them? American politics is like being on a merry-go-round that never stops. Most Americans know that and I think that is why voter turnout is low.

Angelika R. (144)
Tuesday May 14, 2013, 4:54 am
Janet-only you, the American people can change that... but I won't comment anymore on this here, I'll leave that up to my friend Dandelion. You cannot fire the repugs from Congress but you can vote them out. As I said above, the voter determines who has the House.

The MSNBC shows Monday evening began pointing out what you will never hear on Fox News. Tax exempt status was meant to be only for public service organizations solely doing good works, and specifically NOT for partisan political activity. Later that was changed to PRIMARILY doing good works, but after the Republicans on the Supreme Court came up with the terrible Citizens United decision, Karl Rove was able to start a dirty money attack ad fund using anonymous donations and applied for tax exempt status. Other right wing tea party groups followed suit, and eventually some Dem groups felt they had to do it, too. It is the responsibility of the IRS to look into any political organization that is applying for tax exempt status, and that includes all tea party groups. They should all be looked at, right and left, as that is the IRS's job. But with Citizens United, even though they are looked at, they all get the tax exempt status anyway. They shouldn't, but they do because the Supreme Court allowed this. None of these scrutinized Tea Party groups was denied tax exempt status. But under GW Bush, a left wing church was specifically audited for criticizing the Iraq War from the pulpit. Like Benghazi, there is less to this than it looks like. The big things about Benghazi are that there were no US soldiers close enough to get there in time to save the diplomats, and Republicans voted to cut funding for security of US embassies around the world. But they are very good at casting blame.

I'm not so sure this is an attempt to impeach President Obama as it is a means to discredit Hillary. I think she's becoming all too popular of a candidate for 2016 and they don't have anyone they think can beat her.

The problem is, they're starting this way to early in the campaign - they've forgotten how selective the voting public's memory is.

Robert K. (31)
Tuesday May 14, 2013, 8:19 am
Absolutely right Joan, the IRS did what they were supposed to. Don't forget that under Bush the same thing was done to liberal organizations. The difference was that the liberals weren't breaking the law. Also under Bush they tried to get a Pasadena church to lose their tax exemption because the minister allowed a deate about war to happen in church.

So, we had Ronald Reagan who committed treason by making promises to Iran of arms if they would hold the captives until after he was sworn in. Remember that he was trailing Carter by a ton at the time.

Also, under Reagan there were over 100 indictments of his staff, the most in history. So far, none under Obama. The Bush administration committed treason by outing a deep undercover CIA NOC agent and the ignorant, stupid and downright moronic twits who always throw around spurious charges against Democrats have no problems with conservative assholes committing treason. Wonder why? Is it possible they consider ideology preferable to the good of the country and of moraality? I think the answer to that is obvious.

The longer the GOP keep it up, the crazier and dumber they seem. Guess what, GOP? Obama won the election. Obama was the choice of most of the people. He is black. He is not the average fat cat politician. He does not toot his own horn and declare "Mission Accomplished" when it's not. He'd rather make peace than war. If you don't like him, too bad - I HATED the Bush/Cheney regime, but I did not act like some spoiled brat who wants to take all her toys and go home. Like him or not, Obama is our president and as such, he deserves some respect.

I do not get it! Why OH why are Americans not steaming mad.? Day and weeks of investigations.(mostly phony into trying to discredit both the President and Mrs. Clinton ,. NO WORK trying to get the USA back on track. NO attempt to get the debate,FIXING THE ECONOMY and NO discussion re. JOB CREATION.
Just grandstanding and Witch Hunting from those ( several of whom are culpable of much greater "crimes" than those for which they can blame the president). and the arrogant Issa stating that a terrorist attack is not the same as an act of terror.,HUH!!.Mr Issa who headed the committee that recentlycut funding for security abroad by many millions.. Nuf said!.
Lets get back to the nitty gritty, start a debate on the American jobs act, fix the crumbling infrastructure, rotten roads etc. creatiing more than one mill. jobs.Mr Boehner has been sitting on this bill for two years,(perhaps trying to hatch it. ! All this time wasted whilst mid America is suffering.and our children are denied the chance to go to school.!
GET MAD AMERICAN people. Stop the APATHY, demand action from YOUR elected officials.after All they were elected to take care of their constituents. THAT MEANS YOU.TELL them to cut the distractions and grandstandiing and GET TO WORK.

Think about it, none of us even heard of Obama. We know nothing about him. All his personal records were sealed right up to his schooling. His extended family (father, mother, grandparents) ect.

How did he get into the Presidency so unknown? Or what he stood for? By his color? How sad if that is the reason. This is the largest job in the United States and an unknown is in that position. Especially when his Politics & Stand are so questionable along w/ his birth certificate. We put a no-body in the seat of President. Shame on us. What was everyone thinking? Now he has ALL our Countries secrets. Now we are in a deep well and it is overflowing w/defeat. He is a Muslim that can only mean trouble. And more trouble in our future. I believe he is trying to get all our secrets, bankrupt, weaken and attack us when we are down. The End

Now we have a situation that our President has allowed our Citizens to be tortured/abused and killed. Yet let the Brotherhood carry out the mission w/ success. What is wrong w/ this picture? There is know way the President did not know what was exactly what was going on, no one would neglect not having him involved, they would have their head handed to them, I do believe Hillary relayed the situation, she would not take the responsibility of people getting killed w/o having him there. I guess she will take the fall for Bangazi, as he is taking NO blame.

Now he is trying to make the IRS situation to over shadow the Bangazi situation. To try to drop the subject for 6 more months. Stalling the situation makes more unanswered questions.

Time to start voting out our Congressmen/women & Senate & Pelosi we need a change in the ranks. These guys have gotten to comfortable and are not doing their jobs, they are not working for us anymore. Not sure who they are benefiting, but their own pockets.

All these distractions, we cannot forget: Where are the jobs? Fixing Obamacare its a mess and unaffortable as Obama swore it would be affortable. Or Economy. Fixing Social Security & Medicare and help our Seniors.
THESE ARE PRESSURE ISSUES RIGHT NOW ! !

STOP ! ! STOP ! ! Financial-Aid we have our own CRISIS, use this money for us, its our tax money, we have a say on our expenses. We need FREE HEALTHCARE FOR ALL AMERICAN CITIZENS and take this burden off of us. I just don't understand us borrowing money to give away to people who hate us.

All the screaming over Benghazi is only a distraction. Avril has it right: the State Dept. has been underfunded, (but able to dole out $3 Billion over 5 years in private security contracts to protect its gargantuan new embassy in Baghdad). What gripes me the most is that on Dumbya's watch, 9/11 had nearly 3000 lives lost. Where were all the members of Congress asking questions then? Bush should've been impeached over that. Then, over and over again as he pushed his wars, torture, rendition, "no-bid-cost-plus" contracts, outing of a CIA agent.....

For the GOP to push impeaching Obama is to neglect the rest of the work they're supposed to be doing on behalf of their taxpaying constituents. And, why is it that Dem. presidents are always threatened with impeachment (after Nixon)? The GOP presidents always do things that are even worse, and ....nothing! Now, if I WERE for impeaching Obama, I'd rather do it over drones and his "kill list."

BTW, the League of Women Voters sponsored the presidential debates for a number of years and included 3rd parties when they met the criteria. But, they had that taken from them, and since then, those in charge will only allow 2 parties to debate. This is what needs to be fixed. Then, we must build the 3rd parties at the grassroots level and get them elected to Congress to provide momentum for a presidential run. Although I could never see myself ever voting for a member of the GOP, I have been greatly disillusioned with the Dem. party since during the Bush Admin. when they caved all the time on everything. They never recovered from this in my opinion, and are just getting more Corporate for the most part. I'd vote for Elizabeth Warren for Pres. in a heartbeat!

If the right wing loonies impeach Obama, they'll get Biden - not the happy, smiling, charming "Handsome Joe." They'll get a really ticked off, infuriated Biden and if that happens, they better be afraid, very afraid. It would almost be worth it just to see what he'll do to them. Obama has been way too soft on them. Somebody needs to "smack them around" a little bit and Biden is the man for the job.

Comment From A Recent Comment Thread FOR A BENGHAZI ARTICLE: SINCE I AM ON A TANGENT RIGHT NOW, I want to mention something absolutely unspeakable and degrading.

During one of the syndicated news radio programs, it came out that the ambassador was beaten, tortured and sodomized before being murdered. I do not know if this is true or if the other men suffered the same treatment or not; however, I kept thinking of the two angels who visited Lot before the burning of Sodom and Gomorra.

Genesis 19:1-11
King James Version (KJV)
19 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.
4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.
10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.
11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

It bothered me to know at what extreme those men had degraded the ambassador. The men of Sodom desired to do the same to the two holy angels. Lot was willing to sacrifice his two married, virgin daughters in order to prevent the debasing of the angels, because Lot, despite not knowing the 613 laws and statutes, understood and revered Holiness.
The people of Sodom were so determined in defiling and violating the two angels that, even after being blinded, they still pursued after them.
The people of Sodom were unnatural and went against the Grain of Life. The terrorists of Libya are just as deranged and unnatural.

It really bothered me to learn that information from the radio program, and my mind kept going back to pondering on that piece of information.

ANOTHER COMMENT FROM YET ANOTHER COMMENT THREAD:

I support what the Israelis have done and are still doing, because one, they are truly outnumbered by their enemies, and two, their enemies desire—actually hunger—to slaughter them off the Face of the Earth!

Israel must strengthen their forces around their embassies throughout the world, because Islam has a deranged, delusional memory!

Ambassador Chris Stevens—and possibly the three men who fought with him—died a brutal, heinous death. Ambassador Stevens represented the extremely hated United States. The Benghazi terrorists waited for the right moment to attack and the terrorists knew exactly what they intended to do!!! Ambassador Stevens sensed and knew the danger he was in and he asked several times for reinforcements; however, our Muslim traitor, poor example of a president, left Ambassador Stevens and his loyal fighters for dead!!!

I know Obama sold out the United States. I suspect that he has already made arrangements with one or more of the Arab Nations for sanctuary or has invested in property with or for a home when the United States economically and financially collapses!

Obama is like a boy blowing a balloon and trying to see how much air he can get into the balloon before it burst!!!

He is intentionally destroying the United States! And, the ignorance of the U.S. citizens is terrifying!!! The main agenda of the Arab Nations is in play and that is to annihilate all the Jews and to force submission or kill all non-Muslims!

This has been a witch hunt from the beginning. Most of right wing couldn't tell you where Benghazi was located if you handed them a globe.

Portland- let me say that I am sad and shocked that you come to present some right-wing propaganda from someone and somewhere else here, full of lies and delusions. I truly hope you believe non of this nonsense.

What's really sad about the passage about Lot is that everyone was so willing to sacrifice two innocent girls to those animals. It's about time we who believe in God and Angels recognized that the Bible was written by men (and one woman). I do believe it is a holy book, but it was written thousands of years ago and the behavior towards women then was abominable.

Whatever the Republicans' opinion of Mr. Obama, he is still our President! Until he actually commits a crime--are they just going to keep digging until they find something they can twist into the shape of one? Disgusting!

They really do know how to waste the taxpayers time and money, don't they? It's part of the great indifference toward the middle class they all share on the right.

Thanks. It is both insane and quite necessary for the Repug/Tea Bagged. It is pandering to an ever shrinking base and when the number of people who support you shrinks you have to keep all you can and keep them ginned up or you disappear and that is the Repug/Tea Bagged party of today. It has gotten to the point that in order to remain a viable Political Party, the Repug/Tea Bagged require massive gerrymandering of districts and massive voter suppression and disenfranchisement.
And let's get one thing clear ODS(Obama Derangement Syndrome) has become a religion. Even the appearance of working with Obama or admitting that what he proposes is/was a Repug idea is a sin and heresy that requires a public pillory and excommunication. The Repug/Tea Bagged politics turned religion is now based on belief and faith not facts and reality, the Obama at the heart of Repug/Tea Bagged politics has not and does not exist in the real world it has essentially become a religious vision, they have lied and concocted conspiracies for so long that they now believe the lies they created. The hold of the Repug/Tea Bagged Party on existence has reached the point where actual governing for the common good has been relegated to a distant second place behind survival.
They can not admit that their Budget numbers do not work in the real world.
They can not admit that their War on Women is real and being put into practice Red State by Red State.
They can not admit that the only use they they have for racial and ethnic minorities is an indentured labor force for the profit of their Corporate Overlords.
They can not admit that they are no longer actually conservative and have not been since Reagan.
They can not admit that they are not now and have not been Eisenhower fiscally responsible.
They can not admit that every time they are given power they grow the size and cost of government, grow the deficit and debt.
They can not admit that Benghazi is a fart in the bathtub compared to the 11 attacks and 60 deaths at US Embassies and Consulates under Bushconcerningoncering which they never even clenched an anus let alone opened a mouth about security.
They can not and dare not admit that under Bush/Cheney they repeatedly, 2000, 20002,2004, had the IRS check and recheck the non-profit status of the NAACP.
They can not and dare not admit to the 'Nixon's Enemies list', or Agnu's illegal attacks on the press, all of the illegal wire taps and phone record gathering under Bush/Cheney.
They dare not look open eyed in to a mirror lest they impeach themselves.

I have to add this as it just hit my inbox an is worth a read. From Alternet, 5-14-2013, by David Sirota, "Bush Used the IRS, FBI, CIA and the Secret Service to Go AfterOpponents -- Where Was the FOX and GOP Outrage?"

I have been following the various scandals closely.Obama needs to be completely honest with congress and the American people about his involvement in these affairs or he could very well be facing legal action.

GOP Guano guarantee, if it doesn't make sense,
nor helps the President, we will darn sure do it,
or try to - like voting 37 times to repeal the ACA,
instead of actually doing something legitimate on
the taxpayers' dime.

Even if President Obama is impeached by the GOP majority of the House of Representative, it's the Senate that can remove or acquit the president. Guess which way Harry Reid, and the rest of the Dems majority held Senate are going to vote? That's the reason Clinton was able to stay as president; found guilty by the House, but acquitted by the Senate. Now, lets say the same holds true for president Obama, he is impeached by the House and acquitted by the Senate, does any one think President Obama will still want to seek any bipartisanship agreements on the countless issues plaguing our country? I'd ventured to say it will be a resounding NO! Maybe what we need is a pissed off Obama! Maybe, just maybe, all these made up "Scandals" will be blessings in disguise, and they will serve as catalysts in making President Obama play hardball with the obstructionist GOP!

Why don't we just have a gov't website called Open-Secrets so our enemies can have full knowledge of every move, every thought we have instead of concealing information from any of the public at all.

On Huffington Post Bob Cesca reports: 13 Benghazis That Occurred on Bush's Watch

I didn't hear of any hearings or any blame put upon Rice.....Actually 57 people died but they were of lower rank than the 13.

This shows the worst side of the GOP who are the most hateful people that I have known in my lifetime

Once we can't have any secrets at all and the public has to have FULL disclosure of every move then what's the point of having the CIA/FBI or the State Dept. Just POST everything in the NEWS and let our enemies have a BALL with the info. Why have Americans STOPPED THINKING ?????

I just want change, for the better. And right now it is not better. I am in the streets, revolting, yelling, talking to Senators, we all are writing and signing and doing what we can to make changes. Let's try to save something for the future dammit. I think this is what most people with money and power seem to have overlooked. Look into the kids, animals, helpless, grab some empathy (which I had to learn also).. Listen with things other then your fat ears.. Listen with your soul.. and get a damn grip on reality.. do what is right for THEM! not yourself... (speaking to the 1%) and look at Mother Earth and let her Breath for once

I hate that the right wing can run their 24/7 "witch hunt", for the next 3 years, on our people, without resistance. Our future gets dimmer with every abuse a corrupt congRess uses. All 3 attacks last week are 100% bogus. The 4th reich (rove) Fascist are starting to show their true power. Desperate times ahead. We all know what that means.
