We're spending $10 million per hour on an operation that many top officials and experts have said generates hostility toward our country. The chief cause of death for U.S. troops in this operation is suicide.

At long last, we have an important (and usually quite corrupt) politician on our side, responding to public pressure and ready -- after 12 years -- to shut down Operation Enduring ... and Enduring and Enduring.

Now the White House is trying to keep troops in Afghanistan until "2024 and beyond."

Email Afghan President Hamid Karzai to ask him to keep saying no to a longer occupation.!

You do realize that Karzi is not really saying no. He stands to gain more years in power and much more money, by keeping the US in Afghanistan. The man is not stupid. The agreement was made almost 2 years ago, why are people suddenly surprised?

Thank you for asking President Karzai to keep saying no to another decade of foreign occupation of his country. -- Thanks Angelika

What I think is Karzai is just holding out for some add'l US incentives to finalize the agreement, i.e. bribe.

However, I've been posting the following sentiment wherever the opportunity arises:

Is anyone else upset that our National Policy is to keep thousands, instead of only hundreds, of out young men and women in the Afgahn meat grinder for 10 more years, and beyond, instead of 2 or 3 years max and to continue the blank check gravy train to Swiss and Cayman Is. numbered accounts instead of shutting down the obvious graft by both Afghan and US contractors? Anyone, anyone at all? Mr. Senator? Mr. Congressman?

Phil -rest assured that MILLIONS areu pset about this but i won't hold my breath that many Congressmen and/or Senators are among those.

IF and that is if-Karzai does sign agreement Germany will leave 800 troops for NATO's planned mission "Resolute support".

Signed with hope. Spammers flagged.

When we have Veterans that are homeless, when we have Veterans that are having their Food Stamps cut back, when we have injured Veterans still waiting due to a backlog that is still not addressed. While our Elders have their Meals on Wheels taken away, and our children can't get books in the school they attend, we can't afford 10 more years in Afghanistan for any reason.

In 2014, it will cost an average of an eye-popping $2.1 million for every U.S. troop serving in Afghanistan, according to a report from the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments (CSBA).
