If this were a football game, the referee should call unnecessary roughness for piling on Germany. The American Left led by Paul Krugman (The Harm Germany Does and Those Depressing Germans) excoriates Germany for forcing austerity on the rest of Europe.

Please read at visit site.

It is very rare or in fact never, that I would submit any article or OP-ED from a conservative business- oriented rather right wing view but, this I found true in so many ways that I decided to post it, also to give some insight and background regarding the current event in Athens, Greece, -and perhaps more of this to come shortly..

I've never heard Krugman be as simplistic as this article makes him out to be on this issue; it leads me to want to see his whole statement/analysis in context.

the writer seemed a little to left for me. i guess i lean a little towards socialism. but i don't like when one entity tries to force another entity where to put their money. heck sometimes i don''t like it when our government gives our $ away especially in our economic straits

Thanks Angelika.I couldn't disagree with Krugman more on this than I already do. Germany is on the right path. It's the rest of these nations that got sucked into the EU dream that was never going to work for the long haul; unless other nations were willing to cede their national identities and rights. The best thing for Germany to do is to remove itself from the EU and trade with Russia. I know there is history there; lots of it but it makes economic sense. Let the other nations determine their own path and find their own solutions. If they still want to trade fine but Germany shouldn't be subsidizing them.
Krugman's irresponsible Obama type spending plan and tax cuts is an infantile and myopic disaster he wants to impose on a successful nation. Tax cuts benefit the wealthy and not the poorer tax brackets.

LOL Selma-you'd better LEARN to tell left from right! Naturally, any economic magasin like FORBES will be rather right leaning than leaning left^^

Theodore-a quite awkward suggestion you make there- Merkel, who followed in Kohl's footsteps whose major achievement was building "the European house" would hardly ever consider such a move :-) -and yes, we, particularly her, do have good relations with Russia, she saw to that. But God forgive to ever again getting any closer to Russia, she's the one who knows that best of all.
