Petitioning Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation and its chair:
We request you to ensure that women’s helpline numbers are clearly displayed on all the buses and take other steps to improve the safety of women.
Displaying the numbers will be the first step in making buses safer for women. A simple step like this will build confidence in women and let them know that they have help at hand in case of trouble.
We request you to take the safety of Bangalore's women seriously and implement the suggestions in this petition immediately.

i couldn't believe how prevalent this is in asia. i can only china, hong kong, japan and india. but if what i've seen on a daily basis is projected nationwide in just these countries, then we have 100's of millions of assaults happening to 100's of millions of woman and girls. i've seen gangs of kids as young as 9 or 10 positioning themselves to commit assaults as the ladies were entering the bus. already learning at that young age not to respect women.
it's an amazing thing. anyone who travels to asia should take public transportation and watch this happen.

This is hardly aiming for the stars! Protecting women ONLY while on the bus will do very little to change how sexual assaults are prosecuted in this country. Stronger laws and stronger enforcement may, however, cause society to stop looking the other way when these crimes occur.

Very true Sam and there have already been petitions for tht s well. Hoever, this particular lady from Bangalore chose to petition the corporation, probably ADDITIONALLY, so there'll be watchdogs.

Noted and Signed. I think we should boycott buying anything, hiring any company or using any product from this area until they take the needed steps to protect women. Yelling at arrogant and paternalistic men usually has little effect. Hitting them in their wallets and affecting government taxation often does.
