CANCER = a gold mine for the big well-oranized criminal org's, like Bayer

CANCER-EPIDEMIC: " We are now [that was 2003; it's certainly no better, near-certainly worse now] in the midst of a major cancer epidemic and I have no doubt and I have documented the basis for this, that industry is largely responsible for this overwhelming epidemic of cancer, in which one in every two men get cancer in their lifetimes, and 1 in every 3 women get cancer in their lifetimes. " -- Samuel Epstein M.D. in "The Corporation" (2003)

" Cancer treatments by now devour a quarter of the budget for medication although they account for only 2% of prescriptions. " -- Stickwort BAYER 4/2010 (=data for Germoney; probably no better, maybe worse for U$A; my transl., Orig.: " Die Krebsmittel fressen mittlerweile ein Viertel des Arzneimitel-Budgets der Krankenkassen, obwohl sie nur 2 % der Verordnungen ausmachen. ")

and to do more (in the battle against BAYER &Co) than merely sign a petition, i'd suggest you might consider supporting CBG, the Coalition against Bayer-dangers ~~ Coalition gegen Bayer-Gefahren -- a relatively small but highly active German-based but internationally connected environmental NGO, known to me for years, and on the very top of my list of groups worth support (i.e. $$$ + time)

PS: if any of you in USA wants to chip in for CBG, i know a trick to do it tax-deductibly (PM me)

I know the development of a new drug is very expensive, & costs have to be recovered if continued research into treatments is to be possible, but the insensitivity of this statement is outrageous .. health care only for the wealthy?
And one should bear in mind that often it is all the tax-payers (social security contributors) who are involved in paying, not just wealthy individuals, so the "they can afford it" (so we can push the price up) just doesn't wash.

Done. They'd rather develop it for an overpriced Western market than actually do some good in the world correcting the causes that their other good buddies at these mega corps have created.

And why does he think we in the western society can afford $69,000 a year. I can't.

(Snark warning) Even clowns need employment, but they should be labeled as such. A clown suit, whiteface, a rubber nose, a wig, huge shoes, and of course a demotion to minimum wage, whatever that is there - that might work.

Actually Angelica, I surprised you didn't do more research. The Indians found that it was actually a vlid patent (which they normally don't) and yet still allow and Indian company to copy the formula and market it. The comment was made when question if it would hurt the business, and he was simply telling investors they hadn't expected to sell in India. But free to collect for all these that signed to help the Indian pay to cover those that cannot afford even the cheap version.

John, I am surprised even more that YOU DID ! I had no reason at all to do any further research on the matter, trusting that TheOther98% would have all info necessary before putting out any petition!
In the background it does NOT say it was a valid patent, only that India patent court has taken legal action for the very reason this petition is trying to express- Bayer should make cancer-fighting medication affordable to those who need it.
