Three years is too long -- tell the NRC to fix reactor safety standards now

> everything is under control
- hur hur hur
so SFP#4 is emptied, and all the corium from #1+2+3 is secured all all the sh*t is tucked aways "safely" at some waste disposal site ?

I think it is, frankly, completely irresponsible to even think of constructing new reactors, like the US is doing, no matter how advanced the technology, as long as there isn't a single place on earth to safely deposit of the waste

Nothing is under control. The Japanese government is just lying to their own people and to us too. Petition signed.

Noted. Thanks, Angelika. I read an article a couple days ago by a scientist stating that Fukushima was worse than Chernobyl, and gave a detailed explanation. And, I've been getting e.mailings from Harvey Wasserman....Fukushima updates that explain how truly bad it is. I signed the petition, of course.

If we do not learn to manage our technical powers, we will destroy our Planet. Sincerely, I don't think the human race will survive next 100 years because we don't want to work together as a species.
Petition signed, thank you Angelika .

If the human race doesn't use every possible technology to get us off of fossil fuels and into a zero carbon economy, then we will certainly be doomed in one hundred years or less. Climate change is coming fast; we do not have the luxury of sticking our heads in the sand and wishing, as the luddites, that we lived in a pre-industrial era.

Brian, unless you'd consider the "shale revolution" the US is now so hellbent to further, a zero carbon economy, you and we ARE doomed!

I don't even begin to know why anyone would think that shale gas, which, of course, is also a fossil fuel, is either a revolution or a step towards zero carbon. We must get off all fossil fuels now! There is a high probability that we won't survive this century, but if we are to try and survive, then we must stop using fossil fuels and instead transition to using alternative energy production.

With the DOE busy approving one application after another for exporting LNG, and construction of liquifaction plants, there seems to be less of a green energy future, so proclaimed. Only the people could change that wrong path!

Brian, I assume you HAD noticed the biting sarcasm in my previous comment. "Shale revolution" is a quote e.g. from Madeleine Albright. The ziocons are planning to export LNG to the Ukraine and Europe in general, once they got the TPP under way.

Rather than INVEST in alternative energy, incl. what you mentioned earlier( new nuke reactor technologies), they are focused on revenues from exports. Watch the ban getting lifted REAL SOON. I believe that's what Obama and Moniz have had in mind all the time, pushed by BigOil and gas and their neocon helpers in govt.

Nuclear energy is a demon which could poison this entire planet
