You don't have to leave your desk to watch the whales and dolphins play in the Pacific Ocean off Southern California.

David Anderson has mounted seven cameras and built an underwater viewing pod on his 50-foot, high-tech, high-speed Catamaran and will take anyone along for a virtual ride at www.whalewatchingtv.com.

Anderson, a documentary filmmaker whose Wild Dolphins and Whales of Southern California was a winner at the Wildscreen Film Festival, wanted his latest venture to be more than a Web cam.

``It's like a reality show. We have mikes on the captain and crew. You will hear things even the passengers don't hear. My crew was not real keen on this, and there is a little friction, but they understand why we are doing it,'' he said.

When the boat is out, the cameras are on, the mikes are connected and the action is live.

OH my gosh...this would be my total desire, that people do watch these special creatures on T.V. rather than having all of the people putting their boats out there, interferring with them...

This should be ON THE TELEVISION --- ONE LIKE CBS - NBC, CNN, ETC...would make a TON of sense to me to get it out there, lots of people do not have the Animal Planet, but this would be so terrific to do a show about this instead of the stupid shows they have on now...that do nothing to help the earth, help a persons mind etc.

Would love to get this one out....Any suggestions????

Captain Dave deserves praise and plenty of it for what he is doing.I only wish there was more people like him.It makes a great change to hear of people who care enough about animals and mammals to take this kind of action.Good on you Dave.

Absolutely awesome in so many ways educating and exciting !
This demonstrates that dolphins and whales no longer need to be exploited for enjoyment in places like Marineland enclosures.
The future for dolphins, blue and gray whales and all marine life is brighter because of David Anderson's creative visions.
My only concern is if they get too close as expressed by some in their comments following their safari experience; secondly, that the hi speed catamaran can possibly leave it's own trail of oil and gas pollutants which will be toxic to all marine mammals, fish species and marine ecosystems.
