According to the story, she was trying to help the dog, but the dog was being very aggressive. So what? So she got upset with the dog? That doesn't excuse what happened here. That is NO way to handle an issue.

Unbelievable...this thing should be fired. ASAP. It's appalling that the managing body at this hospital stands by her despite these atrocious actions. I wonder how often this sort of things and worse goes on...petition S+S-thx Carlene

"If you see the whole video, you're going to realize what happened there happens everywhere all the time."

Ummm, in denial much?

I've never seen a responsible person do this to a dog. If I thought this was common I'd beat the asses of every person I knew who did this. I'd be exhausted from going from vet's office to vet's office putting people in the hospital.

Signed. The video clearly shows her not doing right by the dog and yelling at it. If she can't come up with a better solution than that she shouldn't be working there. That this Vet is still defending her is beyond me as she should be fired. Don't bring your animals to that place to be so called cared for.

I wonder if the owner knew that this happened to their dog. I believe that the girl should be dismissed. There is no escuse for treating this dog this way. I do not however believe that the animal hospital should be shut down. The owner was not there at this time, but his support of the tech is very disturbing. This blackens the perception of other vet techs and the attitude that this is the only way to handle a frightened and agressive dog shows the ignorance of the owner as well as the workers there.

REALLY? This is how a Vet Tech treats an aggressive small dog with legs the size of a baby banana? The Vet stands by her? REALLY?? I am an outraged college degreed Vet Assistant who works exclusively in rescue. What would this Vet Tech do in the event a Rottie, Amstaff or Shepard became aggressive? Shoot it? She needs to be FIRED yesterday! Who is overseeing this "hospital"....they need 24/7 surveillance cameras until this is the RARE EXCEPTION not the norm....heinous and morally corrupt behavior unbecoming a "professional"!....the Vet should be ashamed of himself.

Not really what you expect, when you take your dog to the vet. Are there no muzzles in Orlando? She clearly is completly overextended. But it might be difficult to fire her, if she really is the manager. Bad reputation for the hospital. If it was my dog, I would sue her for damages. She will never do it again!

The cop in me wants the full story. If it was edited at all to make it appear worse, as stated, I would want to see the original. If it has been edited to impugn the reputations of the employee or the clinic, then there may be a criminal action here to add to the theft charge. Defamation of character is a crime in one of the jurisdictions I live in, while it is grounds for a tort claim in the state I live in. Defamation is the effect of this video,

On duty one day I had a stray pit bull that I had just gotten a leash on suddenly attack and had to use the lease to end the attack and prevent injury to myself. To do this, I lifted it up and away from me. This caused it to swing away from me. If there had been a wall there, it would have hit the wall as it swung away from me. Keeping it from reaching the ground was all that kept me from getting bitten. So, I will not judge the assistant or clinic based on the little information we have here.

Irene Leggett (0)
Friday June 28, 2013, 3:14 pm
This was NO accidental swinging of the dog, this was several deliberate slams against the wall. There is no way this so-called manager should be allowed to ever work with animals again. She obviously has anger management problems and definitely should find another job that doesn't involve working with animals. I wonder if the dog's owner would agree with the way their dog was being handled??

WOW !!!
Not quite what one would expect from a Vet Tech...
No excuse would be acceptable in trying to explain this action.
I'm quite sure there are more humane & acceptable methods in dealing with an aggressive dog.
This is clearly not one of them.. :-( Grrrrr !!!
Makes me wonder what the 2 staff before, were doing to the dog...
Were they responsible for the dog becoming aggressive in the first place.. ???

It's just Not Acceptable Behaviour from a Vet's Practice... Grrrrr !!!

damn right I signed..someone even thought of doing that to my dog, theyd be picking up pieces of their ass.
I saw this on the news last night and couldnt believe this idiot owner was sticking up for her, ..he wasnt even there when it happened so what does he know..I know there are always 3 sides to a story but this was obvious abuse..i guess someone supposedly cut out pieces and was using it as revenge..ok, but she was swinging it by the leash and slamming it against the wall.. that cannot be disputed as we SEE IT
IF the dog was aggressive, you can sedate it, muzzle it or have two people handeling it. this dog was not acting aggressive he was scared..the sob holding the camera needs to be charged for neglect watching an animal being slammed against the wall.. appalling. I cant even imagine what she do with a dog the size of mine..beat it with a bat when he tries to lick her???

signed. It took 3 plus sized women(like the video assistant) to hold down my skipperkee (medium sized dog) to get her toe nails clipped.
It took the vet, and assistant with a net to hold down my cat to get a shot through the net ( exam was called off because cat was too afraid and totally ballistic). Wise vet.
There are ways to handle a freaked out animal, and this video no way shows it. Even with "edited" film, a dog dangling from a leash, whacked against the wall is WRONG! You put down the damned camera, get more assistance or leather mitts or whatever, have the owner stay WITH the dog to calm it.
"Revenge" film? I call it justified whistle blowing!

I say put a collar on her and a leash and get a bulldozer to swing her fat but into a brick wall. And this jackass who owns the place needs to go to another country to practice we do not condone animal abuse here> If anyone in that area ever takes their dog to this guy they are crazy. I say close him down and put her in jail.

Animal Hospital Staff must be equipped to handle their patients with empathy and compassion. By the very nature of their work they will get animals in a variety of situations, in pain or suffering or scared and must know how to handle them safely so no one is hurt, animal or human. In those scenarios, no, they won't be at their best behavior just as sick people are not at their best in hospitals. Swinging a dog by the leash and then slamming it into a wall is abuse and animal cruelty! She thought this was going to calm an aggressive dog? Really? If you cannot handle an animal properly yourself, get some help. Check with the owner , see if they can hold or calm their animal. Clearly Vet tech Stefanie Stasse has no business being around animals. She should not be allowed around any animal and stripped of her vet tech status. She is a bully. And if Dr. Mohammad Hassan defends this sort of behavior in his Animal Hospital and thinks it is acceptable, clearly he needs to have his veterinary license revoked. This was caught on video this time. I cringe to think what else has gone on there that we do not know and our defenseless, vulnerable, sentient, animals cannot tell us. People with no compassion and empathy cannot be allowed to be in charge of the welfare of vulnerable, dependent, defenseless beings.
After seeing this, I'm understanding why this little dog might have felt aggressive --perhaps he was handled this way by Stasse before. Personally, I'd like to see both these horrible people have their heads knocked together and see them thrown into a wall, see how it feels. If it were my dog, you bet we'd have a reckoning-- I'd have the police there and the news media there in a heartbeat!

As disgusting as this technician's behavior was, we should be grateful that she doesn't work in a day care center or hospital nursery. If you don't have the patience to deal with a living being that is frightened or in pain, find another way to make a living. "Dominatrix" comes to mind...

This disgusting excuse for a woman should not be allowed anywhere near an animal. I cannot believe she is being vindicated for her appalling abusive behaviour by her employer. S he needs to be sacked, never allowed to work with, or own animals ever again. Prosecute this woman. She is there to care for animals, how does slamming the poor little dog against a wall, do any good for the dog - it would only worsen matters. look at the size of the poor thing, she looks strong enough to protect herself against a tiny dog on a leash.

Signed & Shared your petition with this comment: I urge you to bring severe abuse and cruelty charges against Stefanie Stasse as there are ways of restraining dogs without slamming them against the wall and endangering this dog. Because what she was caught doing is so abusive and could have caused that dog such extreme injury, she should have her vet tech license suspended permanently and never allowed to work with animals again and prohibited from owning animals again as she inflicted serious cruelty on this dog. Owner/vet Dr. Hassan who stands by such egregious methods at his clinic should have his pet hospital clinic not only closed down but should have a formal complaint brought against him by the American Veterinary Assoc. and possibly be put on probation and have his license revoked! What happened here is nothing but terrible abuse which doesn’t belong in any animal clinic or hospital and cannot be justified in any way!

"Dr. Mohammad Hassan" stands by his employee, huh? Well they should swing together. Isn't this name associated with a religion that says dogs are unclean? So this is how a veterinarian treats dogs? I don't care what their excuse was, I don't care if the dog did get aggressive, what could it weigh? 7 - 10 libs? And you can't figure a way to handle a tiny little creature like that without resorting to violence? Ever hear of a tranquilizer dart? On a stick perhaps? Dozens of ways to handle this, none of which include torturing the poor frightened little thing. No excuse for this and that clinic should lose its license and that "vet" be required to take a few additional classes on how to treat animals. Are their no professional licensing standards in Florida? There are here in MN, where complaints can be filed, and the punishments are published in the paper weekly. The only viciousness I see there is humans.

Yes, little dogs can be snappy, but if you can't handle that you shouldn't be vet tech. And the vet should now better than to defend this behaviour and instead her instead.

But her size has nothing to do with it, it would've been just as nasty if she she was a skinny model, so I'm saddened by some of the irrelevant abusive remarks above.

P A (117)
Saturday June 29, 2013, 7:22 am
Stars all over the place! Whilst Kevin A is correct that we should see the whole situation - there are people who have commented with steam still coming out of their ears who say they have seen the whole thing on video - and it is awful.

There are ways of dealing with animals that are afraid and aggressive, as others have commented - and one is to be calm and to take time to reassure a frightened or aggressive animal by not doing anything, and letting them calm down, THEN proceeding to get to know them a bit better and carry on with the procedure. Also there is using tranquilisers and more calm staff....

Just a thought - perhaps the people who work with this woman are afraid of her.....? Just a thought.

Please keep us informed what happen with this case.
I like to see Dr. Mohammad Hassan prosecuted too, and see how much longer he will stands by his tech side.
If he thinks this is OK. It's hard to imagine what they do to all their animal patients when nobody is watching. Never trust your vet at least you know for a fact he is worth your trust, and even then have some reservations, remember animals don't have a voice.

She will probably quit because she can make more money at a nursing home.

I don't believe you handle aggressive dogs by swinging them against the wall even if people were injured handling the dog before the video was taken. What kind of crap is that? Vet techs are trained to handle dogs properly especially when they are aggressive. Personally, I would have fired her a long time ago for doing that. Obviously, she is not qualified as a vet tech at all. It's like saying that in a nursing home, an aide should have the right to slap an elderly person for being difficult to deal with.

We entrust our beloved fur and people animals to those we are encouraged to heal and save lives, but they only betray us deliberately.

I hope NOBODY takes their pet there ever again. I am disgusted by the Veterinarian who said he "stands by the vet tech" ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? If there is any justice that place will not have any business at all. If that is the attitude they have, then they have no business being entrusted with animals. If the best idea a vet tech (a supposed professional) could come up with is abuse then she sucks at her job.

Did it not occur to her to leave the dog be and let it calm down? Did it occur to anyone there that maybe if all else failed to cover the VERY LITTLE dog with a blanket for safety and then tranquilize it?? They can tranq a dog cant they??? Veterinarians have tranqs I am sure. I just can't even believe this is okay. I may deal with human patients instead of animals but the rules of compassion are the same. Many patients can become combative when frightened. Stress and the fight or flight response takes over and look out. But professionals are trained to deal with it. There is no excuse for this. I am beyond appalled.

This is horrible! I don't care what the "whole story of what happened" is, there is no excuse for animal abuse! This so called clinic needs to be shut down and the people responsible for this cruelty to be prosecuted accordingly.

According to rip off report this Veterinarian owns several clinics , most likely she is working for him at one of those
Also I am still wondering why no owner or rescue has come forwarding demanding justice for this dog .

Noted and take your animals to the vet because you think that it's a save place, how anyone could work at a vets and do that to any animal makes me sick!
There should be background checks forced on anyone who works with animals! Hell I wanted to volunteer at my local vets which also runs at lowered cost for pensioners, concession card holders and people on government payments (not to mention you can pay off your bill with no interest and with no extra fee!) and part of the application was a police background check no older then three months.

No matter how aggressive an animal becomes, that is not the way to try and control it. Vet staff should know how to handle animal aggressiveness properly and humanely. What the employee did is not acceptable!
